I'm paranoid over it. Too many stories from others. Mysterious noises in driveline. Clutch feels soft already... or is it only in my mind, being fed tales of exploding clutches in Darts at 20k miles... I know I drive it properly... I learned to drive in a '69 F-250 with 3 on tree and no power steering, not to mention many John Deeres... this is a commuter vehicle that does not get abused... I went four wheeling once in it, and I did not burn the clutch... I know how to keep my foot off of it. I need to settle down until something tangible happens. Maybe turn up the radio and sing.

If family habits rub off on a man, I've got a lot of conflicting influences running through my veins. Dad, his dad, and my brother from another mother are all solidly in the Chevrolet camp. No exceptions. No discussion. My mother was influenced during the short time she had with my father to like Chevy, but after that she's been "adventurous" and eclectic in her automotive tastes. Her father was a Chrysler and Pontiac man, but he loved his Ford trucks, which rubbed off on his son, my uncle/mother's brother who helped raise me. It's been Ford for him. No exceptions. No discussion. Which leads to my latest automotive realization: Despite its beercan body which makes repairing it difficult (and its gerbil engines), the Ford F150 is the best looking pickup being made right now. And it has a Sport package that can be added to the XL trim for a relatively affordable upcharge. The Dodge looks good too, but it is growing long in the tooth. The all new '19, which has been photographed in the glorious nude, looks like a stunner, but it ain't here yet. The Express trim has gotten more expensive than it used to be, too, despite it coming standard with the 3.6 and 17" alloys these days, a downgrade from earlier. The Chevy... sad to say, is the dowdy old man of the bunch. Awful, unless it is optioned up to the high $40k range. WT and LS are riding on the same steel and stainless clad wheels they've ridden on since 1957. Chevy's "Blackout" and "Custom" packages have barely made their presence known, and they are restricted, in typical GM fashion, to a few predictable color choices. WHAT TO DO???

Wow. Just confirmed. LOL it was at night... so they ALL "looked" black.

Shame. That average age was 42 before Drew bought his Encore. Now look what he's done. -

My mom's lease is up in March on her 2015 Versa Note. She's been pestering me about getting into a new car when the lease is up on this one. She loves the Note for its combination of economy, ease of ingress/egress, and cargo room for hauling her lawn clippings. She said she wants a 2018 Versa Note in Monarch Orange with tan interior. The 2018 Versa Note has fewer variations. The last Monarch Orange Note was built in June 2017. The last Note with tan interior was built in May of 2017. So Nissan will not be building her "attainable dream car". Her 2015 has a little over 9k miles on it. Best thing for us to do now is, I'm thinking, transfer the contract to a buy, with enough money added to keep her payments at the level of her lease, or a little lower. She brings up the thing about maintenance, and a lease car has free oil changes, etc... but leasing into perpetuity is a vicious cycle, imo... I am going to need to figure this out soon. I am currently leaning against another lease. She's just turned 73.

This downvote brought to you by a one-sided lack of policing the forum rule on "political talk".

The large print ad push: BUY A BOLT! GET $7500! (It even carries an MSRP directly tied to the $7500 amount, which, to me, shows the arbitrary nature of that MSRP figure, since the car is a yuge money loser for GM... GM is clearly already pricing the car lower than it should for its own fiscal health) *potential buyer goes to Chevy dealer because of hype* The small print reality: OH SORRY *potential buyer keeps driving his Jeepiat* The credit isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Maybe one of these with one of these, with a polished exhaust stack. With appropriate driveline strengthening and some wide meats on back. -

The richest satisfaction comes from seeing photos of Elon Musk as he devolves into madness. He is his own worst enemy and he is losing his grip on reality. That alone makes me grin like Cheshire Cat. olds, you are so cute when you're mad. If I could just get you to economize your writing process. Stream of consciousness is one thing, but hoowee, you can type like the wind.

This is one you and Dave cannot wiggle out of. Both of you, in your comments, treat Tesla's future as a foregone conclusion. Not even a little bit? Mostly I give a minus one to dfelt when he sticks a totally off topic EV plug into every single thread. Come on now.

Interesting that dfelt and Drew both jump to the word "death" when referring to Tesla when I didn't say a damn word about it. Why is that?
