  1. SWEET Dwight! Hyper, you mention "quality" as one of the things people in this class aspire to. M-B and BMW... and Audi, are not known for being bulletproof. They are very nice cars to look at and drive... but not to live with on a longterm basis. Dare I say that Cadillac is at the very least already more than a match for M-B and BMW quality over the typical lease term, and if the car is purchased, not leased over a short term, I'd put money on the Cadillac costing less to own in repairs and maintenance over 5-10 years of ownership. M-B and BMW customers do not care as much about quality as they do about image... lucky for M-B and BMW.
  2. Estate Wagon came before Roadmaster Estate, the previous-design B-body. When was the last A-body Century Estate wagon made?
  3. They'd better get crackin' then, eh?
  4. Spark? Ew, reminds me of another "s" word.
  5. How about a Sonic convertible like the spunky little Metro ragtop? Or a Sonic pickup? Low-roof, rakish hatchback coupe? How about a Cruze coupe? A sporty 4 seater Cruze-based 2-door CUV? Or even a Cruze 5-door hatchback? GM needs to leverage these platforms by proliferating bodystyles... it cannot be too expensive to engineer an array of different bodystyles when the platform itself costs billions to develop. After all, their resources aren't stretched to include Oldsmobile, Saturn or my beloved Pontiac brand...
  6. No, you're right, they are not "tageting" me (?) I don't smoke. Do you think the M-B or BMW buyer will think twice when all he can see are those two red blades disappearing into the night while his precious, multi-cam wonder makes noise but cannot keep up with the Cadillac with the Corvette engine?
  7. I see the new Motor Trend magazine compares GM's new assault on the compact car market to a similar effort in 1961... if only this new wave included some coupes and wagons...
  8. If a Dodge Magnum Quattro Cientos can't get you laid... NOTHING WILL, amigo! <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ezdxY-qXGd4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  9. Besides the Righteous Vitamin K-Car getting all over that Supra like white on rice, I love the little redneck giggle this guy has. USA! USA!

  11. Then I expect nothing less than 6 valves per cylinder and 4 camshafts per cylinder bank. Make it so!
  12. Hyper: what is the "collage market", 3rd grade Art teachers?
  13. Seems like the innocence we had left as a nation drained out that day. We haven't had peace or prosperity since then.
  14. Focus is selling around 20k per month, Fiesta around 5k. I think that will roughly translate over to Chevy's entries. I don't see Sonic booming, really. They've certainly aimed it at a different buyer, with the silly dashboard and the ad blitz featuring skater bois and emo chicks.
  15. 2012 Jetta GLI in gray. Lookin' good.
  16. Sons of bitches who do that to a beautiful old car need to be strung up by the balls.

  18. I don't agree. I don't think it hurts the CTS-V's image one bit.

  20. The old fart ran over you with it?
  21. Based on how cheap the Mopar/Fiat/Lancia rebadges have been so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see the trident pasted on to the center of an otherwise stock 7-slot grille.
  22. I was gonna say "beige strikes again!" with an ironic twist, but by the photos taken underwater, I really can't tell if it's beige or white... the interior appears to be that parchment color (I forget the official name, my '65 Corvair had Fawn interior, a very light tan with darker carpets). Car needs saved though, that much is a no-brainer.
  23. Nice to see these cars remembered. I wouldn't mind having a '73 Malibu SS coupe with a 350 and a four speed... as long as all the smog crap was removed and a few mods were done to help the engine breathe in and out.
  24. I was rootin' for ya to buy it. A good cleaning and then a thorough drying out would make a big difference to start with. It would have been fun to re-do the wood bed floor (simple oak boards would suffice if it were me). I wouldn't even have worried about the brown, it wears it as a badge of honor. Carefully selecting and fixing things that only affect roadworthiness would be a good strategy. Shoot, if the rust spots are that small after this many years, I wouldn't even fix them. Something like this could be a labor of love. Just tackle things as they come up, like leaky wheel cylinders, etc. The simplicity of this machine means the list won't be that long. I assume you've seen it run, does it really need internal engine work, or does it just need to have maintenance work done and a good run down the road to return to health? I know I'm too late, as you appear to have made your decision, but I think this may have been an opportunity that should have been seized. Even if the project becomes too unwieldy, heaven forbid, parting it out would have made your money back, shirley.
  25. I guess Drew has relaxed the rule against pornography. Too many sexy words in that article. Kleenex please.
