  1. Funny, I'm 5'5", 146 pounds, and I'd rather drive Zeta than Epsilon.
  2. Seems like a nice package, something similar to what Ford has been doing for years with their F-150, with all their trim packages (and it calls to mind GMC special editions from the 70's). I kinda like those wheels, too.
  3. Interesting. I knew the Prius had a problem with intended acceleration. Kinda cool to read it also has a problem with the unintended kind.
  4. I hope this transition is a good one, Sixty8. Yeah, you'll be ripped pretty soon.
  5. Same-sex marriage bans will fall, they have to sooner or later, if we are to continue to value the U.S. Constitution.

  7. I took a spin through the local Honda lot today at lunchtime. This car is not pretty at all. It is an unfortunate mishmash going off in too many directions. Ugly. The interior is decent, however, and looks like a natural big sister to the Civic. The '08 Civic sedan sitting next to it is a much more handsome car. The Accord looks big, but there are no really flattering angles on the thing. Also, I noticed a wide range of gaps on each of the 4 Accords in a row I looked at, where the rear bumper butts up to the quarter panel toward the rear, at the taillight on the side. Nice, consistent fit and finish there, Honda!
  8. In this picture it looks like the Nissan Altima's frumpy sister.
  9. Well I hope today ends on a better note than yesterday. Yeah, I think we've all been in that "angry leopard" place at some point, or two or three. It's good to have a place to vent.
  10. Target is cooler than Wal-Mart. Happy hunting!
  11. Yeah, the name is cheesy and incomprehensible. But it appears to be well-executed from road to roof.
  12. Intriguing, sooo futuristic and shocking, slightly off-putting it's... so new. Cool, minimalist. Quite a statement that VW is back in The People's Car game.
  13. It's real, and it's spectacular... A wingless flying machine... I love it.
  14. Yeah, I don't need something that huge. But it carries its size well, imo.
  15. I think the Enclave is a very well-executed vehicle, from road to roof.
  16. Smallchevy, didn't see any plumber's cleavage, if that's what you mean (PLENTY of boobie cleavage, though, those corsets had them pushed up to the ladies' chins). Saw quite a few handsome folks, though, including an acrobat walking around on stilts with a nice, compact, tight body and a moderately hairy chest. Made me wish I were much, much taller. As for the kilt wearers, it just wasn't breezy enough yesterday, so I'm not sure if everyone was wearing them properly. (BTW, why the asterisks? You can say "pimp" in the lounge.) :AH-HA_wink:
  17. Tape it off, sand it and get some black spray paint, but it is going to be hard to make the paint stick to the chrome when gravel hits it.

  19. You're a brave man, Camino. Haggis is a little like soupy scrapple, if you know what that is. Bleh. I was actually going to go in a kilt, but couldn't find a place to rent one. My dad's grandmother came from Scotland, I'd be interested in researching the family plaid pattern and finding an appropriate kilt to match.
  20. Oh I forgot to mention in my OP, she really likes the 3, but finds the mileage ratings too low and the MSRP too high. I am honestly not sure about the Astra. The 3 door will be too expensive for what she wants to spend, but maybe a 5 door, judiciously equipped, would work. But the preliminary mileage ratings aren't stellar either. She also mentioned the Focus, but when I mentioned they've done away with the hatches in the reskin, she kind of backed off. We saw a pea green 3 door Focus in the parking lot and she lit up, she likes unusual colors. She likes the Fit in orange, but wishes it came with any color interior except black.
  21. Wow, it seems only yesterday a cousin of mine was asking me advice on what trim level she should get in a Mazda Protege. Her 323 hatchback had racked up a lot of miles, and she was ready to get something "more mature". She was set on another Mazda (which she bought after her much-liked '82 Cavalier Type 10 hatchback got totalled in a rearend collision), so I told her she should go for the hotrod, the ES. She listened to me and got herself what has been a Great Little Car for her. We went to the Ren Faire in it today... 174k miles and still mechanically in good condition, she's never put a clutch in it, for example. It's a rattletrap, some of the interior parts show a good amount of wear, but I have to say I was impressed to read the odometer. She is interested in another compact, or subcompact car... gas mileage is very important to her. When it came right down to brass tacks, I had to recommend the Honda Fit as the best in the tiny car class. She likes the Fit, but is frustrated at a lack of color choices, especially in the interior. As we know, the Fit is black only on the Sport model, which she would want. I told her the Japanese makers are more restrictive than the domestics in their color choices, and she agreed. Other cars on her list were the Matrix (snore), the xD (ew), the Versa (nice interior but ungainly exterior, also less-than-expected mileage ratings). I mentioned the PT Cruiser (also low mileage ratings) and the Civic sedan. She hates the Yaris' central instrument cluster. Shoot, what else is there? The new Mini is cool and gets good mileage ratings, but she feels it is too expensive. The Aveo is really not as sporty and nice as the Fit. She wants a hatchback this time, so the Cobalt was out. Which left us the Honda Fit Sport. I don't feel guilty. In the tiny car class, the Fit seems the most fun, and the sportiest looking. Plus with Honda's experience with lawn mower engines, it should be a pretty good car for her. I'll see what she decides in the next several months leading up to this new-car purchase.

  24. So, I went to the Renaissance Faire today. Has anyone else been to one of these things? It was pretty fun I guess, in a cheesy kind of way. Lots of kilts to celebrate Scottish Weekend. Yeah, I was checking out some ppl in kilts, sue me, some of them were dead sexy. I tried some haggis, a traditional Scottish food... a totally disgusting mix of miscellaneous sheep parts, spices ,and what I believe to be rice or something... it turns out looking like gray dog puke *shiver*. Waaay too much food overall, lots of little shows and acts, a jousting tournament with pyrotechnics... all in all, a good day.
