  1. Yes, that was a great competition, moguls and jumps..another form of ultimate handling machines.......speaking of ultimate handling machines....those lady bump skiers are easy on the eyes....too moguls are great fun and all I ski when I go, but I look more like the competitors do when they get loose....only I go k-boom.....lol Im hopeing our boy Bode nails the mens downhill, he is the loosest skiier I have ever seen, technique? what technique? just point it and send her ! Have a hella party when it over........lol
  2. We've been through this before. All your "fleet" sales are not rental agencies. There is a vast amount of government owned Impala and who knows what else. Also anyone knows a great place to do business is our government. Its time to turn out the lights the day our governments start sending American payed employees out on the road in Toyotas and Hondas, Kias and Hyundias...though Im sure thats something someone like OC and gang would love. More ammunition to get more people to hate GM's. Then your all (you know.....the gang) clamping on the "fleet sales" like a piece of driftwood in a flood when the truth is they are no more discounted than any sale that has incentives, blowout sales, price reductions, or sells after much haggling........and after all, what were total W body sales last year ? clamping on to fleet sales would be like clamping on to cheap Korean sales when we all know there are extreme economic problems within this country today that is destroying a vast share of the American workforces way of life.........yet they arent affecting you are the OC ? Cant see it from your house can you OC ?..... So you turn a blind eye to the reality because its far to hard for you..........except....... you did have that little problem with some poor richy perhaps having to move to Tenn and loosing status amounst you OCers......but thats a whole nother picture...right ?
  3. Wonder why Cobalt SS is smokin the RWD 3 series BMW's in Grand Am ? Perhaps that cheap dash plastic is giving them a weight advantage ?
  4. I dont know how many here are into winter sports or at least watching them. I'm not much on sports but downhill ski racing has always been on my list. The legs become the ultimate shock absorbers, the fine edge of the ski carves the perfect arch, the knees and hips all but touching the surface as the body leans and fights the lateral g's to keep those edges at the perfect angle. 85+mph on your feet against a mountain and ice...... the ultimate adreneline rush. The Olympics are on !
  5. too much over hang is bad in the front, in the rear its part of the trunk. I found the trunk in the CTS interesting but I havent had to use it. your big old land yachts had very long rear overhangs, but the fronts werent.
  6. look how narrow the foot area of the Passat is ! The newer Passat interior looks to have gone back to the narrow band separating the upper and lower, similar to our LSS........however back then the LSS, Aurora and Riviera used a wrap around into the door.......a very nice touch in my opinion. Our 89 NYer even had it. There both using foolish slalom run steering wheel....but the new VW wheel is very, non sexy ! I do like the location of the controls ......however Im not crazy about any of the arm rests I have seen shifter in VW does nothing for me Hmm ? Damn that Lucerne is one nice Buick !
  7. Whats with the "moved on", what was "moved on" to ? GM "moved on" from the interior in my 97 but guess what ? I like the 97 better overall. So much for "moving on" I also believe the Lucerne very much stands out in the crowd There is a few stand out cars out there now and the Lucerne is one of them, in fact GM has quite a few......but then they always have !
  8. Thanks guys I needed that ! Id say theres a bunch currently getting ready to measure "overhangs". That will be the one right there....Honda has 2" less rear over hang.... apparently there is currently some exacting "proportions" that all cars must become standardize too...... all while showing new creativity and not being "boring or bland".............. did I just rule out every car currently in production ?
  9. everyone need some claim to fame, history has proven "critics" are legends..........in their own minds.......yet the things they went out of their way to try to destroy........live on must be hard to juggle high school and windshield time in the showroom...or is that windshield time from the arm chair ? Lets go dig up some magazine qoutes so it sounds like we're smert
  10. I got a good laugh out of that one...thanks ! This new Camaro is such a good job. Its nothing like the origional Camaros when viewed side by side, yet it brings out all that aggresion and edgyness that has been mostly gone from us for 30 years. Styling is now back on track and can finally advance in a good direction. We have traveled down that dead end street and came to the end, now we have turned around and gone back to the main drag, before the bad turn, and a new search will begin.
  11. Ok were talking a language here I understand. Dog........large.......furry.......wet noses........wagons?..........NOT ! We've had ours in the Ciera Cruiser but its NOT clean anymore when they get out Ill tell ya right now, if I could, I would seriously pursue a good condition VW Rabbit Pickup again, that truck was perfect for me. Great for dogs and enough room for the tools and supplies I need while getting 27+ mpg. The gas engine had plenty of power, even loaded. BUT......I know thats not for you, so this is what you need to do That old Vega wagon welder, plazma cutter reinforced frame, remove roof from front doors back, fabricate cab back and bed floor. Put Buick GN running gear call it Vagino
  12. To say the car sells under 30,000 and two seconds later flash a "base price, 29,999" ? Who is running the show over there at GM publicity, promotion and advertising, they are morons, sent in undercover to undermine General Motors by the Asians and auto journalists ! Really ! Check out a Hyundia commercial or Toyota or Mazda or Nissan or even Ford and it doesnt look like a bunch of morons trying to sell you laundry soap because "look, see it comes out brighter and is on sale" THERES SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH GM'S MARKETING DEPARTMENT FIRE THEM ALL !
  13. I wonder why they went to these single material moldings ? A dash pad used to have at least three materials. 4 spoke wheels suck Im surprised no one has ever said anything about Buicks steering wheel controls? Big knobs suck, I like them small and pert But DAMN that car is one sexy bitch of sheet metal
  14. Of course..theres nothing else on the road in American like it.
  15. styling is up against a wall and has been for over a decade. Retro-derieved-weird-strange-bazaar-weak-bland-lame-dull-boring-ugly all words recently used to describe current styling trends...........so Id say givin my choise.........I'd take some great retro derieved variants..........like the Camaro
  16. What did I say ? .......... ?
  17. So long as its a usefull platform they can build Buick a flagship from as well as something for Pontiac, then it does not matter how many Camaros sell, it matters how many total sales of that platform are made. UNLIKE KAPPA UNLIKE CADILLAC I believe the concern is legitimate, we can only look back and remember how sales of 2dr cars fell and how sales of American "sports" cars fell. People are more into utility today than sports cars, unlike the glory days of the Camaro and Mustang. Thats why this platform must be versatile. Then let the divisions personalize and tune the cars according to the target. So nice to here them tootin the Toyo horn for 268 ponys..........did they do that for the GP when it got 260 ponys two years ago ? How about now when its up to 300 ponys ? Ah..never mind
  18. Styling is all subject to taste and its stupid to jump in on a thread about a car you dont like and state your styling views as fact. To me the Lucerne is a beautiful car I have always liked the 350 Z as well The Lacrosse looks far better than Avalon, Camry or Accord, Accord better of the three and has better details as well...still G6 is far more handsome. Mazdas got something going on but its not 100%, the cars change from cool to typical as you walk around the corners. Typical Nissans are freaky lookin things, goes to show what happens when you run out of American and European icons to imitate. I was not aware anyone knew what a "Buick looks like".......they sure as heck dont need to look like they did during the last 15 years....anymore DAMN.........I like that Lucerne !
  19. I wanna build a pullin tractor with a thats 2980 cubic inch how many turbos could we put on that ? can you imagine the ear drum poping sound ? It would probably be outlawed. ALSO : 53 series engines turned a faster RPM 2600 as opposed to 1900 - 2100 for 71 series & 92 series. 1900-2100 is typical commercial diesel rpm. The 8V92TTA was the final and most refined 2 stroke Detriot 348 hp @ 1950 and 1200 lb ft @ 1400 earlier 8V92T with 90 mm injectors were tuned up to 445 hp but still only 1250 lb ft
  20. The 353 was the log skidder engine of choise for decades, you could hear them bellerin two mountains away, still I must say, nothing quite like it. For some reason I have a fond memory of the sound of a Detriot. I believe its because before I88 went through the area I grew up there are two long hills pulls on the two state routes that bordered my home town. About 3 miles away on each side. I would fall asleep to the sounds of Detroits pulling those hills. I imagine not so pleasent for the folks living right on those routes Then the trains, in this valley the village was in, the Delaware and Hudson RR rolled through. Now on a still summers night you could hear that rumble comming for half an hour or better as the train pulled a steady grade for over 20 miles. In fact the village Delanson (Del aware and Hud son was obviously a RR town. The old turn tables were ancient ruins by the time I was running around. Coal cinders everywhere. Something about the rumble of a Diesel in the still summers eve........ah the romance.
  21. yep, you read my mind, that was why I asked and what I had suspected, I can deal with Gremlin, it would be one of my last AMC of choise but I can deal with them.......I cant deal with a AMX nose on a Gremlin and this is not really that great of a job either, not like say the camback Corvettes. The Gremlin insignia is..... awsome..........dude
  22. Thats just wrong Harley ! Mixing the beautiful AMX with a Gremlin is juust simply wrong ! What year was this ? 67 68 ?
