  1. Oh boy :( Have you been pounding it ? Whats it doing ? What are the boys at the GP or Regal forums saying ? Where did you get your PCM ? Doesnt Thrasher recommend tranny shift kit to avoid that ssssssslow, sssslippage, into the nnnnnnnext gear. ? See your over 300lb ft now, thats alot of torque. Please, please insist you stay with your car at the tranny shop, keep the keys in your pocket and go on the test drive. If they ask for the keys, say "I'll wait and go out with your man". Shops are in the business to make money, they will gladly sell you a rebuild...that does not mean you need one. Never......never leave a car unarmed and alone with a "tec", sure there are good ones but who has the time and wallet to figure out who the honest ones are. The nim wits at Olds dealership rebuilt that tranny in the 99 "88" Anniversary I had, that was not the problem......there was some sort of irratic line pressure problem, possibly caused by PCM or some other glitch in the electrical part of the tranny system or valve bodies. Sometimes it shuttered most of the time it did not, sometimes the engine hesitated and fell on its face for 3-4 seconds....most of the time it ran perfectly.
  2. BOb - the FWD 3.0 90* Buick V6 was on market before the 3.8 believe it or not, I think it was one year, but Id have to look it up. Its in the link that 91z4me posted above. So we had the 3.0 & 3.8 until their complete retool engines the 3800 & 3300 were ready for market. Also some info that should help those not understanding why the 3.6 is not currently in every car GM has  The 2.8 & 3.1 were also used in Buicks and Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs because it was hard to meet the production needs just from the 38. The 38 was just available for the higher end BOP cars. Also the 4.1 V8 Caddy engine is not the same as the RWD 4.1 Buick V6, the Caddy was a 4.1 V8, completely different and so was its reputation, at least in the FWD cars. Another interesting note on the RWD 4.1 Buick, it was the standard engine in the FWD Riv, the big one, you know, 79-85 (confused  ). The 4.1 had more HP than the 307 Olds V8 yet Americas frame of mind was "gotta have a V8" so most all Rivieras were delivered with the 307. This once again shows why and or how GM was slow to answer the call that today they are blamed for. America didnt want the call..at that time...damned if the did and damned if they didnt. another interesting note is there was a FWD 4.1 V6 diesel...RARE ! Very rare, I also forget the details on that one. So Bob ? Your saying the 3.9 achieved decent gas milage ? Compared to your Regal ? The EPA stats show it to be a tad low compared to competition.......I still say screw these V6's and let GM have all sizes of aluminum V8's with DOD....then Ill never have to have another V6 arguement again :P Im serious. I want 3 & 4 litre V8 added to the current lineup and forget the damn v6's. Want smooth.... you got it, want sound......you got it....V8! 90*, compact, lightweight. I predict we will see GM build smaller displacement v8's.
  3. Hey, that Kramer looks alot like mine as far as the body that is. Is the body like a mildly modified Strat ? Leaned down a bit. Just a little nicer than a Strat in my opinion but not as radical as many other double cutaways. Im not sure what model mine is, the nut cover has been off for years. Its got a single coil neck pickup & double bridge : Seymore Duncans & Floyd Rose, also the machinehead is 80's metal style, down and pointed - Black and I added Red Strat knobs to it, very sinister! dont play much anymo Im sad to say. No excuses just frustration. In fact its been 10 years since Ive played enough to create anything, I was never much on playing others music.
  4. Go drive one Paulie and put her down, then come back and tell me it didnt pull hard and your fillings fell out.
  5. Fear not Oldsmobile, GM's got your back
  6. Im behind on this year, I actually missed the race, too busy. This is a 200 mile race the GS & ST classes run. Not the 24 hour endurance race the "big" cars run. Heres the top ten results for ST ST 1 Schmitt/ Roush HART / Honda Accord 56 2:08.485 45 84 Red Line Oil/ Honda ST 2 Plumb/ Plumb Bill Fenton Motorsports / Acura RSX - S 56 2:09.344 47 84 Southern Auto Auction/ Acura Certified ST 3 Turner/ Salama Turner Motorsport / BMW 330i 56 2:09.504 22 84 Turner Motorsport ST 4 Curran/ Ja Holtom Georgian Bay Motorsports / Chevrolet Cobalt 56 2:09.466 39 84 Scada Pack ST 5 Liebl/ Beede Bill Fenton Motorsports / Acura RSX - S 56 2:09.685 46 84 Acura Certified Pre-Owned/ Southern Auto Auction ST 6 Schlesinger/ Dobson SpeedSource / Mazda RX-8 56 2:09.888 36 84 Mazdaspeed Motorsports/ Mazda USA ST 7 Haskell/ Tremblay SpeedSource / Mazda RX-8 56 2:09.156 54 84 Mazdaspeed Motorsports/ Mazda USA ST 8 Ji Holtom/ Colembie Georgian Bay Motorsports / Chevrolet Cobalt 56 2:10.318 22 84 Scada Pack ST 9 Potter/ Tuaty Performance Motorsports / BMW Z4 56 2:11.507 23 84 Performance Motorsports ST 10 Himes/ Piper/ Briody Piper Motorsport / BMW 330i all ST cars ran 56 laps, they were one lap behind the GS class at 57 laps
  7. Alot of good posts there guys. Its nice to hear something positive for a change. I thought GM was going to price cars to sell now and forget the harmful incentives ? Didnt they just make that announcement ? Just put a good price on the windows and sell the damn things. Glad to hear its going good for Lucerne, as it should be.
  8. GM didnt have the money to invest actually. They bought Saab, canned Oldsmobile...which was in the middle of some kind of transformation and investment ??? Olds sold aprox 220,000, Saab was selling how many ? Now they were out of money for anything but Cadillac, Corvette, Kappa and we all know the rest - re gineered. So knowing this how can we sit and say GM should have gone full tilt with Saab ? They have developed three platforms......one is for Cadillac only and the other is two small roadsters and the G6/Malibu. They have a few new motors and some reengineered or modified projects. They adapted the V8 for a few FWD, and adapted the Northstar for RWD. Doesnt seem like much does it ? We all know how that goes, if you think about it however its is alot of tooling. Im just not to sure about the platform choices or distribution.
  9. Yes, we never thought much about Audi way back. Audi Fox, then came the quattro and they recieved some attention but still VW was the car of abundance. Now Audis are common on the highway and in racing dominates LeMans prototypes, I mean dominates, it always used to be Porsche.
  10. We dont use yonder very often, its used but not like some areas. The Hollar around here is used too much as an insult, sometimes. Interesting is the best attitude. I find all the dialects or phrasing from England real interesting too.
  11. See, we hillbillys have two languages and have no problems understanding any form of the English dialect even street rap, in fact thats easy. I use ruf and roof, sometimes but rarely my Malamutes go ruf I live on ------ Hollow, we call it Hollow because when we talk about the Holler, its one area, then we all know exactly where. I use aint all the time, I also dont button my top button. I have a crick about 30 ft from where Im sitting. Sometimes its a crick, sometimes its a creek, sometimes its a stream and sometimes its a "totally" out of control raging maniac, know what I mean ? If Im going down there to move rocks or take the dogs for a drink its "the crick" our Dutch ancestors called them "kills" and many bordering the Hudson are named as such. "Pop" is a kind of music to me but I dont care if other areas use it.until they try to tell me what soda is and what it isnt......I drink milk anyhow. If someone says "and what not" its because there are a few other items they could also mention but arent not going to or the words have excaped them. I use "its broke" all the time, I have had lots of experience with breakage and when its broke its broke and sometimes that can lead to someone becoming broke. I probably only use broken 2% of the time. We have a dog that severely broke his leg and he still limps..we call him a "broken man", then he holds his paw up to show just how broken he is. I never used that "my bad" term, something about me and bad in the same sentence just wouldnt do, my mistake or my fault works. Heres one that has always drove me crazy....schedule....I was 19 years old when I heard "shedyul" and I cant explain why I wanted to slap the person in the face and ask them to try to say it again. I must confess now looking at the word in dictionary and examining it I pronounce an extra syllable "skedual". I was self employed from the time I was 23 and in conservation with a Uncle one time he said "Oh, your an entrepreneur" and I said "I have no idea what the hell that is but I aint one of them"
  12. Id say Motorama was a really big auto ad
  13. GM has held the standards.....over the decades.....you let your young view of the world tell you that you hate Caddys & Buicks and Pontiacs and Olds built in the 90's, because they are from the decade of cars you were naturally born to hate. When you need to pull proof of validation of this hatred you dig out the old Lumina or Cavalier, or you jump on the "technology" train derailment and away you go. The last paragraph reeks of way to much self gratifacation..........look out everyone turbo's in charge of GM now....if anything changes to his acceptability he is ready and waiting to take credit........I dont know how he will get the media to accept and give credit..before they first open the artical with something like "remember the car company we all told you not to buy cars from, well this car is from them......now having said all that, its a really nice car but........look at this here hun duh
  14. Me ? Dialect issues ? yarite I have had one. My girl always used the term "I seen". Now I have told her over and over there is not a term - "I seen !". "Icene", I tell her, "is the name of a small black boy."
  15. Travelall I knew this one Gramps was a big International man I kinda always thought the Travelall might have been the first, but didnt these really evolve from the old panel trucks ?
  16. Chrysler hemi/poly (1951-1958) [Chrysler/Imperial] c.i. . . . . bore . . . . stroke . . . hp. . . . 392. . . . 4.00 . . . . 3.90625 . .340 . . . 1957-1958 works for me
  17. NEXT ! The competition has figured out how to make sloping roofs and good looking automobiles - Avalon not good looking, Camry acceptable but lacking, yet from the rear is butt ugly, Fords interesting but not for me, Dodge not for me, Accord I like the G6 far better - and still make back seats infinitely more comfortable than most of GM's offerings. -according to you - Once again, go sit in an Accord, Camry, and Altima back seat and then compare to G6, Grand Prix, Impala, Malibu, Lacrosse. As OC has documented here, GM places the seatback angle so as to artifically create more rear dimmensions, - as I recall what OC spoke about was the location of the seat bottom in the floor pan creating an awkward entry exit issue, I have owned W body, have you ? had no effect on my life whatsoever, my then 15 year old daughter said it was alrigh but nothing like the luxury roomyness of our H & C bodies, do you know about them ? didnt think so ! I really always loved to see 3 teenagers sardined into the back of an Accord or Prelude, I prayed their parents never lost them before thier time. - but not comfort. Listen to the argument, comprehend it, and then respond. - you have no arguement, nothing to comprehend, just the same old thing over and over and over, its called a fetish, maybe kinda like that guy Monk ? - [post="82355"][/post]
  18. Ya know ? I say Bologna ! to name a few: The Modena was retro of the Dino The Aston Martins are retro of the DB4, DB5 & Zagato The Scaglietti was a tribute to one of Italys great coach builders and is retro of type The XK8 was retro of the D, E and SS these cars are the European muscle car equivelent of the great 60's era. Why dont a small handfull like the new Camaro or Mustang ? Because they are scared, people love it and its so much better than anything we have seen in decades, jelous because people love it and its so much better than anything we have seen in decades, just plain mad because its reminecent of a period they were not around for and missed out on and its trumping their parade and people love it. everyone is reaching back in some form or the other. Why ? because its easy to look back and see that somewhere between 1977 & 2005 things went astray. Now its time to get back on track and put a bit of edge back into the styling and get away from all the bland look alikes. All styling is derived.....so where are you going to look ? The late 70's early 80's ? No, I dont think so. Your going to look back to the times of the greats and try to figure out what their majic was. Your going to look at Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell, Malcolm Sayer, Williams Lyons, The Farinas, Vignale, Scaglietti.........the masters Great musicians study the masters Great artists study the masters Great warriors study the masters Great auto designers will study the masters
  19. but in 2003 that company moved its U.S. operations to Mexico proud to be an American anyhow interesting story Harley, till it got toward the end, then it became just another typical story we have read over and over and over. Wonder what the insurance payout is going to be for the poor impoverished owners that shipped our futures over the borders ? behold.......the head of a traitor !
  20. I know Reg, this is going on across America. Its the era of big business and filthy wealth for those that dont even need it. Is comming out of the pockets of the poor American workers. This is why they want to push gun control, to keep these thieves safe from the laws of nature. B) 150 years ago this type would have never made it to the age of 24. Last spring something went on with one of these health care people in Vermont, I just caught it on the news while driving so the information did not stay with me. It was the same kind of story, the compensations proved to be counter productive to the job. A conflict of interests so to speak. Isnt it coercion ?, "if you want protection you will give me your money" isnt this what organized crime used to do before they found drugs and gambling more profitable.......ha ......funny......I bet this guy finds drugs quite profitable and the fact that people are not willing to gamble on their health profitable too. For those that said its not the governments job what the heck do you think the government is for...serve and protect, we need protection from these predators, they are abundant and running rampant throughout the world. They are white collar terrorists. thing is nothing is being done because our "politicians" are the same level of predator, from the same school of training, they are all members of the same UNION
  21. wow, thats deep, Im trying to think if anything similar to this has happened, myself and my nearest (location) friend were once partners so we have always split everything but this is still different. How about this view : you should keep it because soon enough you will be helping your friend bleed the brakes or change the timing chain, all while listening to him call the car a POS he wished he never laid eyes on, then that 50 will seem like not nearly enough. It a bit of a finders fee of sorts, as well as a senior family member passing down some good grace. Im about to give an aquaintence that found me my latest job a load of fuel wood as a "finders fee" or actually "kind gesture". It was just a phone call to a friend he knew whom had a wood lot he wanted worked on, so this is how I say "thanks", a months worth of free heat.
  22. I like it better, as a full phrase. Beyond precision is a "whats that", it does not exist. Now when you add, not beyond your reach its showing contrast and brings the first part of the statement into perspective.
  23. Exactly, but then you didnt mention the volumn of cars that go to the state agencys, its alot of cars, like someone said previously Impala and Taurus are our governments car of choice.......as they damn well should be. In the commercial industries, heavy truck, service truck & Vans sales are conquest sales. Either you make the deal or someone else will. This whole "fleet" sales topic has no where near the bearing some make it out to have, its just another distraction, something else to degrade GM's products about. You know the "buzz" factor
  24. Alrighty then, let me direct you to a post I made on this topic over a month ago. Alrighty then, let me direct you to the "starting point" at which point I replied Cant have people passing around misinformed information, it creates a bad "buzz" Im glad you understand the situation and the truth now.
