  1. I think the Fuego was early 80's wasnt it ? Not much to look at thats for sure. It seems to me they were making quite a fuss about it at the time, I really dont remember much.that was 20+ years ago. My friend still has his R 17 Gordini, that too had a problematic engine and is the reason the car is still around because it never ran for long. He had a head or head gasket problem but back then we didnt know much and he knew less and had even less ambition so didnt bother trying to figure out the problem and cure it. It simply pumped the coolant out the overflow, now I know that was headgasket, back then we thought it was overheating and boiling it out, even though the gauge read normal, we didnt know The car got passed around to a few friends and never made to run, then it came back and has since sat and most likely the undercarraige is shot. We liked it at the time, it was pretty quick for the times and was in near perfect condition but that darn engine just wouldnt keep coolant. Seems funny that by early 80's turbo Renault V6's were blowin the doors off most other engines in open wheel formulas. I think this R17 Gordini was the car that preceded the Fuego. It too is not much to look at, it was kinda interesting at the time from certain angles but.....

    IS350 Review

I just saw the commercial for this car today and I was thinkin it looked an awful lot like a toned down GP......am I crazy ? Something abut its styling looked fimilar. I wish GM would do decent commercials.
  3. Good points by all, Monoque does contribute to rigidity but not unibody in itself. We cant go back to such huge cars. They would weigh 6000 lb with all todays "must have" gimmickry. On the other hand the width of the older cars can not be matched unless we go that wide again, back seat leg room can not be matched either. Trunks are better but thats with the FWD platform, same as some aspects of rear seat room. Not sure how the rear drivers are doing, that big ol spare tire in the middle of the trunk was never very handy. That Ford is a big car, I looked at them, they are large, I parked the LSS beside one, they are large, Ford may have done good with this car Im not sure time will tell. Once again....lots of room in the old H body BOP cars ;-)
  4. :AH-HA_wink: across the board
  5. Sorry, Im not sure what was idiotic ? I thought I was tactful......something you have shown me rarely......perhaps you get what you give ? OK Ill leave you alone, I see you can dish but not eat. If Id seen more input, less personal attacks we would have never gone down this path.......sorry. I realize somehow I started this  We'll move on now OK ? Serious Your first two paragraphs were very good and a far more appropriate way of looking at the problem than the page of GM sucks that was writtin by our recent troller. However we all know GM nor any company can have 40% "market share" we have discussed this enough and its really something that need not be pointed out. The market is saturated with choices and desires. Also once again how many cars does GMNA sell ? Have we discussed GMs problems with car priceing and incentives ????? The GM buying public is trained to wait...just wait they will get cheaper. Maybe this pricing problem and some of the quality and perception problems will now begin to fade, this site is a good place to start...or we could continue to fill everyones brains with the GM sucks mentality......either way......carry on
  6. I cant believe the moderaters allowed this post 4 pages of personal bashing but ..........not really. I would have locked it on page one, its one of the most unproductive post on this site yet. So many dont agree with the guy.....BFD. Surely not worth 4 pages of personal attacks. Surely its not all Wagners fault.....BFD.....somethings been going wrong for a long time and well Wagners been there............a long time.......made alot of filthy stinkin money..........so who knows. Im not sure Ive seen anyone point to what Wagner has done for the cause either. I give him credit for the ? million stock he bought back in the spring or summer.......but then again with his income......why not ? What was it again ? 2 million in bonuses last year ? In addition to an annual salary & benefits package equaling how much ? Still none of this has been worth 4 pages of personal attacks. I also dont feel this is the place for multiple posts of bashing Wagner either saturin on the other hand........deserves more than they get ........check the math on saturin As for who is and is not welcome on this site ? I can only look at the people that made those posts and think back to their input and productivity on this site and consider the source. I will say except for the Wagner bashing Buickman if far less abrasive than some of the other posters. Some people seem to not know when they are fueling the fire.......or perhaps that is their whole purpose in the first place ?
  7. Once again this is just your personal opinion of Domestic cars........which you place on ALL Domestic cars.....well good for you, but it is just your extreme bias bullshit opinion. There are more than a few million car buyers in this country that do not agree with you so shut up. Your opinions are not FACT ! Nor are the opinions of California all fact. You smell like someone brought in by our beloved California qlique.....were you referenced here to come a do a bit of stiring, trolling ? No one here denys some of GM faults or mistakes but they were not all mistakes and all vehicals are not faulted, so anyone that posts so narrowly as yourself and a few others around here really needs to be disregarded. Which is what I have done until now that I see a little tag team starting up. Why dont the bunch of you get together and start a little we hate GM site and put your effort into that ? Just a thought, more fun to come here and do it......ey ? Once again very little input from the resident "insider".........but at least we all know now " thoughts are those expressed by the average person in the US"..........how many cars does GMNA sell again ? Just slightly off from their best record years.......no ? Well at least you are OK with someone like this comming around and making a complete anti GM hate post based on alot of BS..how open minded........to bad your openmindedness has such short legs. Excuse me while I change the channel, Im not in the mood to watch the California crowd as they go down on each other.
  8. Ya know ? I guess hes right. we all have reasons of our own that make us not so much of the GM fans that we try to be. I stay just so I can bust on saturin.........lol Well Hello anyhow Marc ;-)
  9. I just got one for an extension. However its one of the green ones......yikes. I love the sound of the bells. They are also the most comfortable to talk on for sure. We had our old black one but I think it was givin away because SOMEBODY cant find it............. I like the sound of the dial running back too but its "just like home" so thats why. Id like to come up with an old black wall phone for the shop. Cordless would be really nice. No keys just the handset. Remember the old long cords ? lol they were pretty tuff for the beating they took.
  10. aint a gonna say notin except I am so lucky, my girl does not have any of the intence issues mentioned. My daughter on the other hand.......well there is a glimmer of hope because at least she knows its not appropriate behavior. Some of its natural for any of us, some of its highly influenced by acceptance or submission in home environment. NOT IN MY HOUSE ! LOL
  11. Wow and here I thought that was unheard of today. I was 17 and that was in 75 she was my girlfriend and oh so sweet. SO I was fortunante to have had great first experiences. Which is important for many reasons. But dont you know your not supposed to F en tell ? Its not gentlemanly. LOL
  12. Im 20-30 miles outside of Albany, Schenectady in the "hill towns". Alot of that western part of the state is unexplored territory to me but I know the Adirondacs and Catskills very well. Yes indeed day and night between NYcity and NY State. The Finger Lake areas are on the map for future destinations of exploration
  13. I test drove a 00 Intrigue and 99 Eighty Eight back to back and it only took the first 1/4 mile or so to know which was the nicest car, smoothest car.................3800 powered Eighty Eight, I never look back at the Intrigue again and I was trading a 3800 powered W body Regal Limited. There was nothing that stood out about the Intrigue at all as far as power, smoothness, ride quality, comfort, quiteness..........nothing It was a nice car and I have always liked them, in fact that was what I was looking for to buy an Intrigue......the 3800 powered H body was just far superior in all areas, though Im sure the Intrigue would have been better handling on back country roads for obvious reasons. Thing that got me was I didnt find it to be as nice as my old 24+,000 mile Regal Limited. The fully loaded Eighty Eight on the other hand was like stepping into a new world. In fact the Alero 2dr I also considered was 3400 powered and as impressive over all to the Intrigue but again was not on the same level as the 3800 H body. I was really impressed with the SII 3800 NA, I already have a SC which speaks for itself but that NA motor was really nice. The gasket/manifold on the other hand is not.
  14. affordable obscure insane American
  15. Imagine the world today without the industrial might offered by the N. American automotive industry during the world wars and personal sacrifice of millions of Americans & Canadians & Brits
  16. Like they say theirs one in every crowd, unfortunantly tonight we have uncovered two on account of this car.
  17. boy thats some attitude picture boy....did I give that to you on any of your extensive posts ?..................did I ?

  21. Variance "old GM land yachts" ? Those are the "new" ones, or the "last" ones :AH-HA_wink: This is a semi "old" land yacht I believe we could get a model here and a model there if they do continue V8 improvement. The last of the H & C bodys were large just in FWD formate but really today the Suv and Crossover seem to have the room and utility everyone wants, I believe they along with ........minivans replaced the large passenger car & wagon in the market place. I have a feeling Buick may have a car of this sort in the future perhaps shared with a Caddy or large Pontiac. Corn burners sure is something Im interested in but its probably not feasible volumn wise.....how about methane they could bottle "$h!loads" of it from the local landfills
  22. Ive always like the Eclipse and its variants but they have teenager writtin all over them so I just couldnt, Id have to tint the windows wear sunglasses and a hat so no one could identify it was me.
  23. the 70's
  24. Thats it ! the Shelby, it was kinda hard to stomach growing up in the 60's but today Im glad at least they tried. I can find some merit in it. Thats a Horizon I mentioned too. Now what was Plymouths version of this car called ? Im pretty sure they both got one. Hey it was a Hemi - Turbocharged Hemi
  25. Really ! I had one of them 75 CVCC a real class leader
