I have never looked at another manufacturers car and wished GM had a car "like it". Thats kinda creepy to me, like a copy cat thing or even falls back on biblical warnings about coveting thy neighbors property. Thats part of the reasoning behind my reaction to some of the interior posts. Id rather look back at GM's great styling history and say "what the heck went wrong". Still and all GM has had greatly styled and performing cars throughout all the decades. There is not a BMW, Acura, Inifinity, Lexus or hun duh toyota, I would prefer to any Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and some Cadillac and some Chevy's of any givin era. Its about everyone doing their own thing, its about personal identity, sometimes I find all this wanting of others products, which seems to be the status quo (BMW, Lexus) to be an interesting trend coming from generations that have been so focused on individual and personal identity.

Im one of the few that said anything constructive because Im one of the few here that has any mechanical ability, knowledge or experience. But as usual the little crocodile had to get his jaw on me....no dont listen to me, listen to the others. Then I must think back and wonder...what did I say that was not far more insiteful and more detailed and little different than "the others". If you father wants to keep money on hold its most likely for the best at this time..believe it or not. Sometimes some people get things too easy and it does not always have positive results.

but your post - cow manure is the reason for hydrogen sulfide would be what ? Ill be sure to tell anyone I know looking at 3 acre parcels that they need to have a "pressurized" aquafer in order to have water

Thanks for the endorcement but Im not sure about petro around these parts There is alot of sulfur water around here and no oil or coal, no natural gas, lots of limestone and shale. Limestone quarrys are abundant. There was some oil company years(decades) ago that tried one area for oil, perhaps becasue of the abundance of sulfur, notta. This area, Catskill Mountains although appearing mountainous was actually a plateau that was carved into river and stream valleys by the receding glaziers. There is gravel deposits found even high on some of the foothills 2100' though most is now down in the stream valleys. The wells people on the road I live on are deep and sulfur, its a stream valley or actually more like a gorge, soil survey lists the sample as "holly" in fact much of the area was listed that way. Sedimentary pure rock free clay is abundant, as is fossil rockin the upper gravel layer, & shale. Im not sure how deep the bedrock begins here because I have no well. Our water comes from the stream through a sand filter into well point and is pure and clear.....however we do not drink it. Im reluctant to drill a well becasue I know Im going to come up $10,000 short and have sulfur & mineral water. There has been very little farming outside of the old subsistance farming done by origional settlers in this hills, its unfarmable. Id say any sulfur comes from decaying dinosaur poop ..........shale

You really know so little about much of anything, but good "col ledge" try

The mileage on this powertrain is of little concern.....BUT......you need to know what you are looking at under the hood. Things that needs to be concerned about is SC nose bearings and whether or not the engine has had oil changed regularly. Tranny has clean and unburnt smelling fluid, tranny is of real concern , much more than engine. SC nose is about the only expensive repair on the car, unless you have a challanged tranny or poor engine maintainence. Also if it has been taken off the road and can not be test drivin walk away, if you cant feel it you have no idea what kind of condition it is in. Turn key and make sure all the warning lights are working, especially the check engine. Then start it and make sure check engine is off, if it is on you have no idea how much it will cost to get it inspected, walk away. Find out how long the people have drivin it and what they are driving now, if it looks like a down grade or they only had it for about a year Id be concerned. Lots of detective work needs to be done. If it passes this fine scrutiny then, if you can get it for 2000 it will be fine. I know alot of used cars are very expensive but if you take your time and arent overly picky you can find some decent vehicals out there owned by respectable citizens that are worth more than cars priced twice as high. Brian is right about Buicks or Oldsmobiles being owned typically by much more responsible people. I do see the attraction to a 2dr GTP, for sure..but on the other hand a Riviera could be more pampered. I know.... its not what you are looking for

I dont like high belt lines myself but this is what everyone has been rageing about, this certain modern look. Belt lines have been high enough to ruin elbow on the sill for over a decaded, its highly uncomfortable on our LSS a design that origionated in 92. I can only imagine the last Camaros were the same deal. What about the C6 isnt that a high belt line ? What about the other exotic sports convertables, arent they high belt line, seems to me about all you can see in any car today is the persons head. Im just not sure its fair to try to tarnish this car...alone.....for a high belt line. Large 21" wheel openings meeting the reality of 16's,17's & 18's is a legitimate concern, some of which is in the profile of the tire which will not affect final sheet metal...too much. Making issue about the trunk is seriously lame, though we know the "press" will. It brought to mind someone that might complain about the height of a work bench for one example...now I know that went way over the head and opens me up to the typical abuse but bare with me. It has to do with typical working and carrying positions. In other words it is still going to be below the waste so its pretty much irrelevent. The dropped trunk access while its a highly marketable propaganda, in many cases has to much control over styling possibilities. This has had alot to do with how all cars wound up with nearly the same tailights and rear panel appearence........now didnt I just hear a few nasayers talking about "genetic". Generic & sterile ? This cars styling much more borders on outlandish and potent then the other end of the spectrum. I mean this car is in your face, this car is an accident waiting to happen when met by oncomming traffic, this car will give people whiplash without an airbag going off. Ya wanna turn it into boring, sterile and generic, take all the edges off of it, flatten the header, put off the shelf, huge triangle taillamps so wimpathangs can get 15 pounds up and over the 24" bumper height and you will have generic and sterile. Then the sales will really be through the roof. I dont think this is supposed to be a 2X4 hauler flat sides ? compared to what ? retro ? while it does draw out styling ideas we find fimiliar......what doesnt ? I have seen the sigs of those that have put this side by side with 1st generation and the difference is day and night, this Camaro is modern. I would be more worried about some of the changes the few have been calling for would make it more retro. The interior is once again the same as the styling. Its completely different, refreshing in a world of nearly identical interior approach, something non generic, non "hun duh". The gauges I highly doubt would remain in an obviously poor visibility location and Im sure the shift knob would be changed. Im not looking at it now but I remember thinking it didnt have a comfortable in the hand look, but like everyone sensible has been trying to relay....this is the show concept. Steering spokes are a little phat and obviously an air bag will change the center, BFD ? As for the voting in this topic or poll, it took to long to load so I skipped it. Anyhow for the real car and Camaro enthousiasts I would pay no attention to the "anti" votes what so ever, it is a combination of a few blind agenda elements. 1."I hate retro" surely anyone that has had children has seen this face - 2. Ford, Chrysler, BMW and hun duh lovers that are totally intimidated 3. people that will shoot everything and anything down just to raise a brow biggest fear is how much sterilization GM will put on the car turning it into reality, like narrowing the rear stance and quarter swell, putting a minvan roof on it, typical black plastic gauges, that kind of thing.

Aw man ! COOL ! good choice, I rarely consider that one. I look forward to hearing about how it all goes. I have too many cars so I dont really fit the criteria for this one. I think for new, considering the abundance of family sedans I already have I would pick the Solstice. Id look into the G6 GTP, GP GXP, GTO (now that I think about it) and Solstice but I believe the Solstice would win out due to fun factor and "new" release.

that I find "puking" posts unnessary, rude and very distastefull

This one I dont get or maybe I do "E85 is used instead of straight ethanol for a couple reasons. First, the addition of gasoline to the ethanol makes it unfit for human consumption (a potential problem with pure ethanol)." What are they saying ? Alcoholics will start drinkin from the pumps ? My God ! I guess that would be "corn whiskey " ? I think I heard once that the old moonshiners had alot to do with high performance hotroding of engines ? running them on "shine" and many became some of the first stock car racers from the American sport born in the south that became NASCAR. Anyone know much about this ? Hillbilly shine runners were amounst the first "tuners" Yeehaw !

I wasnt looking to write an artical to back up the one posted. I just did a fairly long post about octane and CR....KR.......and forced induction within the last month. Now....let me ask this....what is the final density of the low compression forced fed engine ? Then let me point out that recently compression ratios of forced fed engines is remarkably on the rise - see the post about the new turbo ecotec engine, I believe its in the Pontiac section under Solstice GXP. Still I believe if the uneducated (about octane) would stop buying high octane when their engine does not require it because they percieve majic punch (premium) which is scientifically disproved maybe the price of 92/93 for those of us who need it would come down. This is incorrect - "A higher octane will run more eficiently" it is a misinterpretation. What is correct is...a high compression (or forced induction) engine runs more efficiently and will require high octane to avoid preignition. This was something I never understood during the 70's gas crunch and detuning of engines, because the high compression engines were more efficient, not that 12 mpg was efficient. The long term end results have been worth it though because power per displacement/fuel consumption is far better using lower octane gas. All the combustion/ignition/injection/AF ratio knowledge accumulated over the past 30 years has brought the internal combustion engine along ways. high octane does not burn cleaner, does not burn faster, infact slower/cooler (undetectable). I mean there is urban myth out there that would have people believe it will clean their fuel lines, fuel injectors, combustion chambers, gas mileage, extre ponys you name it. Go put a cap full of 87 on the ground and throw a match at it, then tell me whats left when your done. Diesel fuel does not even "plug" up fuel lines or injectors, its just crazy thinking. Gasoline is clean, crazy clean. Before we grew brains and became more aware of toxic issues related to fumes, we used to clean parts in raw gas, it actually gets them too clean and too "dry". Octane rateing is a rating used to identify the ability to resist preignition due to high compression or forced induction, nothing more, nothing less.

What ? Whom did what insult ? I am being educated and following ya'll's lead I thought the lad was having weak stomach problems, it really does pass usually by age 2

auto headlights & twilight is pretty cool but even clouds make them come on, thats kinda rediculous. I must confess they are not a problem on the LSS but I have no idea what I would do if they failed, I suppose then they are still manually operable. Biggest problem I had was when I went from the 99 back to the 90 I would keep forgetting to turn the lights off after driving to work initially in the dark but arriving after dawn.......then at 5:00 Id have a dead battery..only happened once. But I caught myself a few other times. It is a nice feature but I still will never support DRL. Remember Balthy - Harley had the water sensors that would put the top up on the ???? Y Job or LeSabre ? Im sure this is something modern times could give credit to Toyota for ? no wait.... Honda king of the worlds most important athletic amazements

as you grow up you will find your stomach wont give you so much problems

Did anyone even read that artical ? Octane does not equal quality. of course a turbo motor needs higher octane but not a low compression grocery getter. The "premium" "regular" were marketing ploys that date back to the times when shirts would be rubbed dirt then washed in tide and by miracle come out looking brand dandy new and ironed. Geeze !

If you could get a getrag convertable mated to a 38 I would have been all over one of them years ago. I dont want anything to do with that twin cam......just not worth it. So like all W's without the 38 I always walked away.

Wow, I dont know what to think of this one. Maybe they should not have let the word out about the car before they were sure it would be feasible. If they drop it now its bad, if they put it to market its bad. Either way their screwed. I vote forget it. It will recieve less bad press that way then if released.

I agree, way too much black plastic running around on the loose today.

They need to make it harder to get a licence today. Thats all. Every generation that teaches their children also teaches their bad habits or misinformed use of roadways, then this is compounded generation to generation as more bad habits or misunderstandings are added to the pile. Annual or biannual testing/classes for older folks would be beneficial too, sometimes its just bad habits or loosing the edge. Most of the problems are caused by not being able to turn the head and look, this creats a habit of not even trying to look. Last week I had a old guy stop in the middle of a state highway but kept creeping forward, I had no idea what he was up to, when I went by he was looking into a parking lot, either unaware or uncareing that someone was behind him and he was still in the middle of the highway who knows but they need to be reminded that this is not OK and can cause serious accidents. Little girls on the other hand need to learn that everybody isnt going to lock up their brakes and stop what they are doing so they dont have to wait at a stop sign for the road to clear. "well, maybe if I act like Im going to pull out in front of them they will stop and let me go " Eventually one day they wind up in a minivan or SUV and really do believe everyone should stop what they are doing because no one else in the world is doing anything nearly as important. Young boys need to learn that the highway is not a video game.

your kiddin me right ? This is really an enforced law ? My sister married a N Carolina guy. I know there religious but I didnt think this law was for real, they let us stay in same room, but that was in Tennesee. What I want to know is if you catch two having oral sex........can you be busted for voyourism ? I believe that used to be called "peeping tom" or do they wait till you come out of the room and smell your breath ?
