I can see your point generally, I guess I just don't see those events themselves as direct causes. You are certainly right about the decades of cranio-silica insertion.

No matter what the solution may be, the job isn't getting done. And the responsibility for that lands squarely on the federal doorstep.

Can't say I agree about the "Arab Oil Embargos" ( as they were known at the time) being quite that significant. But we may be in for an industrial strength version before too long - and that might qualify.

Can't be as hard as fighting two simultaneous wars halfway around the earth.

I didn't play, because in my opinion, there have only been 4 generations of Monte Carlo. And the fourth doesn't really count.

Interesting responses. I chose mine based on the fact that we (and the entire world) have changed fundamentaly due to both 9/11 and the Berlin wall coming down. I see those two events being largely responsible for the way we live today - the ripples are still washing across the globe. I was deeply affected by both the Challenger and Columbia disasters, so much so that I wrote a tribute the day that the Columbia disintegrated. A friend placed it at the makeshift memorial at a NASA facility. As intense as those events were however, they didn't have the implications that 9/11 and the Wall did.

The straight six was a great work truck engine due to the torque. You could even buy a 292 version in the 3/4 tons. Samadei: I remember those insanely deep fan shrouds!
