  1. That's not going to happen anytime soon. However, I've somehow managed to never own a Vette amongst all of the cars I've had. Someday that will change, and I expect the Vette I eventually own will be something special.
  2. I may be getting old, but that has nothing to do with the question. For me, a seat that isn't comfortable is worthless - no matter what it looks like. The best seats I ever had in a vehicle were the cloth buckets in my 1990 Silverado. They were the ones with the large ribs that ran top to bottom on the setback and cushion. Sitting in them after a long day of landscaping was near-orgasmic. They caught the small of my back perfectly, and instantly soothed any pain I had. No other seat has ever measured up in any of the many vehicles I've owned. Here is that interior:
  3. Of all cars you have owned (or driven regularly), which had the most comfortable seats? What type of seats were they?
  4. You miss my point, DF. People believe leather is better under any circumstance now, and expect it in everything. Sometimes it is just pure crap (the GMT400s come to mind). I don't care for it, supple or not. If you genuinely like it, more power to you. But most people think its some kind of badge of affluence because that's what they've been conditioned to believe.
  5. Harsh! But funny.
  6. Because Americans have been brainwashed to believe that leather is always "better". Freakin sheeple.
  7. They did have a huge snout.
  8. Well...
  9. I'm all for it, I hate leather.
  10. Where the hell have you been?! Glad to see you back.
  11. These have been on my "recommended buy" list for some time now.
  12. Used to be a ton of the wagons around here, the coupes were always a much rarer sight. I admit to having a soft spot for the Eagles, ahead of their time when you think about it.
  13. CAFE is moronic and ineffective. Time to dump it.
  14. There is a little repair shop right near the race car garage that always has cool stuff hanging around. Yesterday afternoon they were messing with a '55 Bel Air hardtop in front of the shop. It's lowered, with a black satin finish (rat rod style) and black rims - pretty badass. They are also bringing back a '67 442 convertible that used to belong to a local sprtscaster who died of cancer a few years back. It's a really nice car that sat and got dusty after the guy died.
  15. Predictably red Ferrari Mondial- top down, cruising. Late 50s Chrysler product ( a Desoto, I think)- 4dr., Black and silver, clean, cruising at a good clip. 75ish Chevy Nova - dark blue or black, rally wheels, clean, cruising. Saw all three within 20 minutes this evening.
  16. The wagon guage is permanently on "F", and yes, I've run out. Very annoying. I'm not even sure I can find the sending unit for it.
  17. It seems I missed quite the happening around here.
  18. nicely done!
  19. Cornbelt ethanol is fine, as long as it is used close to home.
  20. I consider energy diversification to be a national security issue - one that we are ignoring.
  21. Nicely done! A very good call on your part.
  22. I never said we couldn't. But stong-arming the manufacturers to do it via CAFE is the wrong way to get there. It is limiting.
  23. One of the perks of those times was that you could buy a decade-old musclecar on the cheap and leave the new cars in the dust. I got more than a few grins out of doing that.

    Hmmm

I wish! I'll be a very happy camper if that time ever comes.
  25. Hey Drew, for 1978 there were some cars that were considered hot at the time. Indy pace car Corvette Lambo Countach BMW 635CSI Porsche 911 And the Camaro got an update that helped a bunch that year And you could still buy a 4spd. T/A with a 6.6 Pontiac engine. ...or an El Camino SS/Royal Knight with a 350 and a 4spd.
