  1. It caught my eye. I liked the uniqueness of it at least, but I'd like to see it a few more times before saying much else. The proportions seemed quite good.
  2. I would be extremely pleased with that happening! I still think the A body was GM's best idea ever.
  3. Yesterday I saw a Volvo C30 T5, news of this car completely escaped me (I confess to ignoring Volvo news items). Very different looking with a definite Shooting Brake style - reminded me of the old P1800s.
  4. But, as much as I'm singing the praises of the colonnades here, I'm still glad that the previous bodystyle got an extra year!
  5. It's past time that we all start buying things that don't suck instead of buying the cheapest we can find. Nothing ticks me off like products that don't perform as they should - no matter where they are made.
  6. This year is going to be one bumpy ride. The locals must be nuts to do this now.
  7. No rush at all, my friend. Actually, you have just somewhat confirmed my suspicions by saying that you read about this. I came to the conclusion that they must have done so by actually looking at the way the production versions were built (and taking them apart). I used to have Jim Mattison's e-mail (PHS founder) but I may have lost it when my old machine died. Worth a try, I suppose. I did a quick search on these cars and it seems that over 5 million Colonnades were built between '73 and '77. The survivor percentage has to be miniscule though, they spent decades being largely unloved.
  8. Been there, did this (Olds wagon): http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2007/0..._feature12.html
  9. I'd love to see some photoshops of a variety of Colonnades with pre-73 style chrome bumpers. The gigantic shoch absorber versions that they were built with really marred the design badly. Having looked at the structure of these cars closely, it would seem that GM was working on ways to do just that, but the regulations caught them. I would love to see any design studies done with the more "normal" bumpers - I feel confident that such studies must have existed. PCS, can you check on something like that?
  10. Looks hot to me! I especially love the very small headlights and the way that they nearly hide under the hood. I don't usually love supercars very much, but this one looks great to me.
  11. Now, I'm very jealous.
  12. I finally got the correct rear drums for the wagon today, so look for updates fairly soon.
  13. Yes, I've been through quite a few resources in my searching already. The Presbyterian Church in Ireland should have some answers for me. As should the MacDonald clan on Skye. I plan to take part in a DNA project they sponser. Oh, and the Ute version is a given where I'm concerned. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. Should I come into a quantity of money, I think it would be great fun to ship my own Australian-built, American-branded Pontiac G8 ST to the UK to research my past. Tooling around Scotland and Ireland would be a hoot! Imagine the reactions of the locals.
  15. As long as I can have my pint chilled. :AH-HA_wink: My family background is mostly UK, with a touch of German and I am quite interested to research my geneology onsite.
  16. You know, I really want to spend some time in Europe - especially the UK. However, given the automotive climate and fuel prices, I doubt I could be happy there very long.
  17. These tiny cars are not salvation incarnate, and I hope GM can maintain a broader vision while improving their offerings in this segment. Nothing short of a Mini has any hope of interesting me when it comes to cars of this ilk.
  18. I'm going to try to find the time to scan some tonight.
  19. I'm such an addict! I want the details! ...and pics!
  20. Saw one of those big GPs at a car show last year - I'll keep my eyes open, PCS. I've been eyeballing a silver MCSS ('87/'88) for a few days now. It's in pretty good original condition with a very nice interior. No price on it, but it is for sale. GMTG: nothing ventured...
  21. Did that at last year's Carlisle as well. Flogged an HD pickup and a TrailblazerSS. I wish there were more such opportunities.
  22. I'll try to remember this if I do end up having to go to California soon, as I expect I will.
  23. Minor correction on the rebadge thing: The rebadged Chevelles were Beaumonts, not Acadians. :AH-HA_wink:
