  1. Creating Saturn will always remain the biggest blunder ever made at GM. And it is still costing the company in so many ways. As for Hummer, a production version of the HX could change the picture there entirely. Saab has no value in this country that I can see - leave it in Europe.
  2. Sigma was history anyway - no way GM would keep both endlessly. This was an obvious thing years ago. The way I understand it, Sigma simply uses higher grade materials but the dynamics don't outdo Zeta. Also, Zeta has already changed in the form of the version going under the Camaro, a form of the architecture that Holden will also soon adopt. So, I just don't see any news here. Basically, sigma goes away and Zeta get a few expensive bits for the Caddy versions. NBD. The "merging" thing is just fluff for Caddy to keep that sense of being "exclusive" as it was with sigma. What really matters now are the particulars on Alpha.
  3. I'm not so sure that this is really news. We've known for a long time now that sigma was on its way out, and I believe that I've read that Zeta is actually the superior platform. So, this might just be semantics rather than big news.
  4. Met a gold '66 or '67 Lemans at an intersection. He waved me on and I wish he hadn't - I wanted a better (and longer) look.
  5. I may see what else I can find...

Zaino takes more effort - quite a bit more if done right. But nothing will beat the shine.
  7. A terrible case of moron.

    For Camino

I would drive the wheels off of it!
  9. Car Speed and Style I posted the cover of the issue before the article. I think it is the November '57 issue (could be Nov. '56). It is about the size of a small comic book- the car rags of the day were much smaller, it seems.
  10. Haha, no big deal my friend. My dad wasn't a big guy. The article was either '56 or '57 - I'd have to check to be sure. I didn't make my big entrance until '63, the Corvette split window and I arrived together. :AH-HA_wink:
  11. Thanks Ocn. Yeah, that's him. And yeah, to the rest as well.
  12. The lil' tyke is my dad at about age 17 or 18, and that flathead is long gone. But my Uncle made a lamp out of its distributor years later and gave it to my dad for Christmas.
  13. That list just may be the coolest thing GMI has ever done.
  14. And a shot of the original Flathead Ford engine:
  15. Some good shots of the car and engine:

  17. Coming Up My Dad's High school hotrod '41 Ford powered by a '57 Buick Roadmaster engine. As published in this magazine.

    Zaino - period.
  19. This design is infinitely cleaner than the Countach could ever have been. And... I like it better than the original M1 by a wide margin. EDIT: The design makes me think of the Pantera, and that's a very good thing.
  20. This shot, minus the hood louvers, makes me really like the shapes this car is made from: By CaminoLS6 The profile is also quite nice (other than the wheels).
  21. Yes. I actually find the design quite clean as supercars go, not ricey at all. I also like the black element flowing to the back of the car from the side windows, the shape/sculpting of the front "fenders" and the wheel arches. I would change the wheels though.
  22. So true, so true. And yet, the Colonnades have a charm of their own. Without the awful "Nader bumpers" and the weak engines, they would have been stunners in their own right. The '73 Chevelle SS posted isn't even an accurate representative of its type. And '73 was the worst looking of the Colonnade Chevelles. Minor styling tweaks made the '74 and '75 models much more appealing. The early Lagunas were quite nice looking and the square, stacked, headlights of the '76 and '77 models changed the personalities of the cars completely.
  23. The topic being discussed is everything. :AH-HA_wink: Still... a love-in ?! Nah. <---- ducks flying meat food product.
  24. No argument on that point Ocn, but the '72 remains untouchable by comparison.
  25. I just found and read this thread and the story it links to. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=22045 There is quite a bit to like about this particular Volvo. For me, most of that centers around the approach they took in creating and marketing it. I love the individualist styling and, especially, the "custom order" option. I have always wanted to see that degree of choice return to the experience of ordering your own car. Apply that thinking to Holdens/HSVs destined to come here, and I'll be in heaven!
