  1. No flame intended, but I wonder if Buick will ever build another car that would appeal to me.
  2. Very sad. I'd rather have a G8 sedan, wagon, or coupe than a CTS version. Bleh, I'm weary of "luxury" brands anyway.
  3. Note to GM: Leave the bull-nose look in Europe- it invariably looks like crap.
  4. Sorry gm4life, but I completely agree with Turbo here. Pontiac needs to be a no compromises alternative, and that means all RWD, and all performance. No Pontiac should be a clone of any other GMNA brand offering. Pontiac should be Zeta, Alpha, Kappa - and nothing else.
  5. Lots to agree and disagree with in this thread. But, since I don't care for any of the cars mentioned here very much, it all comes down to freedom of choice. That choice being right or wrong, and under what criteria, is subject to interpretation. I will say that given the choices on the market right now, the Camry hybrid seems an odd choice in this instance.
  6. Move along, nothing to see here.
  7. Frat boys, huh? That explains alot. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. You guys really need off-street parking! There's a reason the rest of us on the east coast came up with the term "Masshole".
  9. Absolutely! That's how he makes the characters real and the story believeable - it's one of his greatest talents. In The Shining, he starts the reader off with an old VW bug that has a bad fuel pump!
  10. Spin City!

    Me want

68 about summed it up, I think.
  12. I think that there are more but here's at least a partial list. Prelude to Foundation Foundation Foundation and Empire. Second Foundation Foundation's Edge Forward the Foundation
  13. You might be a dork, but it would have nothing to do with your being impressed by this story. That just means that your brain works. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. Even a bare, unpainted frame on a truck should never rot like these Toyotas. Common sense should tell you that the problem isn't "rust proofing", but the metal itself. I have a 31 year-old parts car that spent it's life in New York and has almost no unrusted body panels left - it still has a completely solid frame. These frames were made from bad steel.
  15. Check out the effect the movie has on your classmates, I expect that their reaction will be stronger than it was with the discussion of the book.
  16. The Stand is King's masterpiece. "The trashcan man" is a memorable character that pushed the boundaries. Carbiz: "the Last Question" by Asimov is the best short story I have ever read. I first read it in about 5th or 6th grade and it has affected my thinking ever since.
  17. Brilliant story! It was made into a movie which I saw in a behavioral science class (I think it was about 7th grade). Made the entire class go silent. Deeply affecting tale.
  18. Books complete the top three list for me with the other two being cars and music. I can't live without any of them. I recommend: Illusions by Richard Bach Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson The Alienist by Caleb Carr Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer Among many, many others.
  19. I suggested something like this months ago, I see that and a wagon/crossover version as the eventual replacements for the Escalade family.
  20. I met a guy at a swap meet who was selling a promotional trinket for this car. I think it was a keychain.
  21. AWESOME! Now I have to go back and read the rest of this epic thread! Meh, sleep is overrated.
  22. Other than being "clean old cars" I doubt very much if the '79s will ever have much collector value. They are sort of the red-headed step children of the M/C family. * Note * I don't bother to count the FWD pretenders as real M/Cs.
  23. That was some dream, Ocn. I rarely remember mine. But, just recently, I had a dream that I went to Canada without proper documents. I got in just fine, but the border folks wouldn't let me back in when I tried to go home!
