  1. I'm not exactly shopping since the decision is already made but the car won't be here for another 18 months or so.
  2. It will be interesting to see what name it ends up with. I'll be buying one regardless.
  3. From what I've been hearing so far: 1) The HP numbers are underrated 2) the intake is a major restriction and VE owners in Oz have gotten huge gains by going aftermarket. 3) The computer program limits the engine artificially, should be a fairly easy mod as well. Can't swear to any of this, but that's the story floating around.
  4. You are so right with this post,Reg. So is Turbo about the easy 15k/year. I'm hoping for a wider selection of colors as well. I usually go with black on something like this, but Holden only uses a metallic black and I'm not really a fan of that. Picking a color will be my biggest debate when I order mine.
  5. I doubt that there are many enthusiasts for the cars that once wore the Phoenix badge. I don't see the name as paying homage to the past, but rather hope for the future and a new beginning for Pontiac. A Phoenix is what I hope Pontiac can be , flying high enough to confound the plans of those that would end the brand.
  6. I was thinking of the 5. I still have hope for a Pontiac Alpha to handle the 3. Don't get me wrong, I like BMWs (at least the pre-Bangle ones). I just don't see a significant advantage to buying one over a G8 - at least not one that justifies the cost differential. I see the G8 as a superior value. As for Caddy, the CTS is farther from a G8 than a BMW is in overall effect. In fact, I would compare the G8 to BMW as its closest analog.
  7. Do you have political ambitions? You've got that obfuscation thing down pat! :AH-HA_wink:
  8. Other than the "snot factor", there is no logical reason to spend BMW money when you can buy a G8.
  9. I actually like the '74 GTO. The bit about No Va is BS, the car actually sold well in Latin countries. You have to give hispanics enough credit that they can distinguish between Nova meaning "exploding star" and No va, meaning "does not go".
  10. BS, very few people remember that car ( or the Nova clone that wore the badge earlier). The Sport Truck would be the most appropriate use of the name yet.
  11. Which leaves a gaping hole where truly compact trucks used to be in the market. The truth is, all of the entries in this segment miss the mark badly.
  12. To my way of thinking, Pontiac's history with the Sprint name is entirely negated by GMC using it on vehicles of the same configuration. Besides, this vehicle is defined by performance not the thrift of the Pontiac OHC straight six. When I chose a name, I asked myself this question. What name would exemplify a Chevrolet icon being reincarnated as a Pontiac? And then, what name could symbolize a product renaissance at Pontiac? That led me to only one conclusion: Phoenix.
  13. Pontiac now has my favorite lineup in the market. Only Holden does it better, and not by much.
  14. To each his own. I'm just not a Caddy kind of guy - I can appreciate them, but I don't lust after them. As for EPII, I have no personal interest in that platform.
  15. I wouldn't know how to act if I won the contest.
  16. No. Quit trying to grab my hand. Caddy just doesn't do it for me. I'm not into lux and gadgets, and I don't care for the styling.
  17. Hopefully, a GXP and the manual trans will be available at launch.
  18. Hmm, GME and Cadillac? Two GM entities that will never be getting money from me.
  19. X2 I would never buy a CTS, but a G8 is just right. Of course mine will come with a bed. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. If it were a GMC, Sprint would be fine - but not for a Pontiac. Same thing with El Camino, it would just be wrong. This is a Pontiac, so I went with a Pontiac name when I entered the contest. I'll buy it no matter the eventual name and just be happy that it gets a real name instead of the Alphanumeric crap.
  21. Surprise! Camino is not part of the name I gave it. But I think I'll let that mystery be for a while. :AH-HA_wink:
  22. Thanks! My next New Year really will be a happy one thanks to this! Seems I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas 2009.
