  1. Thank you for the heads-up, message received and understood.
  2. I agree about the urgency. Z is doing his homework so we don't end up dealing with this again. I have already cast my vote about how to proceed. I could be wrong, but I expect a staff consensus sometime tonight.
  3. Nothing final yet, but to those who are willing to contribute I'd say to have your paypal accts. at the ready.
  4. I've been trying to forget it since the first time I saw it.
  5. I keep forgetting how lucky I am to have cheap insurance rates. It isn't even a factor for me when choosing a car. Glad I have kept a good driving record!
  6. Seems to me that WE all wished you a Happy birthday!
  7. Perhaps. But my f-body insurance was cheap, so I didn't consider that.
  8. I'll be on the lookout for the right background for that crazy green on the Holden ute just in case.
  9. You had better choose something soon, this anticipation is causing stress all over the site! :AH-HA_wink: BTW: nice shots. Want to photograph my new toy when I get it?
  10. It's no sin Ocn, don't get guilted into something you don't love. Why not get an econobeater and park the truck for commuting purposes?
  11. Am I the only one unimpressed with the mileage these little cars get? For what they cost, you could buy a near-virgin 4th gen LS1 f-body and get 30mpg. I wouldn't consider one of these as an option in the face of that reality.
  12. Good advice ,Ocn. The cats back then were garbage.
  13. A little mixed freezing stuff early last night turned to rain. Heavy rain overnight, drizzle most of the day, a moment of sun, and now heavy wind that I can hear taking my crappy little house apart.
  14. No more names like this, please. I'm so sick of alphabet soup.
  15. The fuel pump is mechanical and driven by the engine - look for it down low on the front passenger side of the block. The tank is located inside the truck behind the seat, follow the fuel line and drain it through the line. If there is debris inside the tank, you will have to remove it, clean it, have it sealed, and re-install it. I would drain the old fuel, change the fuel filter, and rebuild the carb, if it is a fuel delivery problem. The fuel pumps are cheap, go ahead and replace that as well (be careful not to let the rod that drives it fall out of the engine or let any debris inside). The fuel pump is driven via this rod from the camshaft. Are you sure that the trouble is fuel? Does the ignition have spark?
  16. I'm all for alternative fuels and eliminating oil importation, but not by limiting my vehicle choices. Those in urban areas need to have better mass transit, not microcars.
  17. I don't believe that, automakers innovate all the time as the market demands it. Good fuel economy is a selling point. Also, alternative fuels could make this sort of regulation moot.
  18. Maybe if it were only on the passenger side...
  19. Another toyota-driving idiot.
  20. Agreed. Don't regulate - innovate! I will never drive a microcar - never. No one will ever take any of my cars to the crusher, I won't permit it. If the cars and trucks I want are forced off of the market, I'll just have older cars for the rest of my life. In fact, I'll build one to be as polluting and wasteful as I can make it and drive it whenever and wherever I please. This is non-negotiable, so they had best not push the issue. With all of that said, I don't think we will have to face any such thing. When the impact of the unintended consequences hits, the government will be forced to relax the rules. In any case, I will own and drive whatever I choose.
  21. NO!
  22. The problem is that the automakers themselves have already caved to the new standards. To me that means that they have strategies to deal with it. The fine print will determine how it all shakes out. I predict that the post-election government will re-visit this issue and change things to a more realistic version later.
  23. Wow! It sure is great to know that all of you guys are willing to help out. Hopefully, we will have a decision on how to proceed soon.
  24. In PA, any place that changes oil is required to accept waste oil for recycling. I just have the local Chevy dealer do it as I hate transporting drain oil. I do sometimes need to when I'm into a project, but regular oil changes are cheap enough at the dealer that I don't hassle with it.
