  1. I wouldn't mind having a Hemi SRT8 GC, but in the previous WJ bodystyle (I prefer the styling and interior of the '99-04 GC over the '05-06).
  2. Hmmm...OHC engines, 5- and 6-spd automatics, and a hybrid available.... and Chevy's competing models will muddle along with the same-old same-old engines and 4-spd automatics.. when will GM be competitive (other than on price) in the family sedan market?
  3. I like the new Miata interior..the design and materials make the Solstice interior look pretty sad, unfortunately.
  4. I think the Solstice would look better with the plate off to the side rather than in the center of the grille...if they had integrated the turn signals and driving lights into the headlight housings, they could have done this.. I like how some older cars had the front plate off to the side, esp. on the old pointy-nosed Pontiacs...
  5. They are very nice...a friend of mine bought one a few months ago..the interior is very well put together as far as materials and the look... Buick definitely needs interiors of this caliber, IMHO... My favorite interiors overall today are those from Audi... I like Italian interiors also...great use of materials and color.
  6. I'm used to 2 plates, but wouldn't mind one plates...but if I moved to a one-plate state (Arizona) I'd have the problem that my cars all have the brackets and holes behind them in the plastic bumper covers... :( (I lived in Michigan for 3 years, but always had 2 plates since my cars then were registered in Ohio). What I really like are the wide European number plates...my M3 would look much nicer with them than US-style plates, IMHO.
  7. When I was growing up, my family did the Midwest & Florida thing for about 6 years...we spent the school year in Marathon, Florida (50 miles north of Key West) and then the rest of the year between two homes in Eastern Ohio (one in a city of about 35k on the Ohio River, the other on a farm about 50 miles west of there in Amish country). It was a fun way to grow up... I hate Midwestern/Eastern winters (after spending my college and grad school years in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois)....I can't stand the constant gray, the dampness, the bone-chilling cold. Winters here in Denver are great...not too much snow and cold weather, very dry and sunny mostly.... ultimately, I'd like to spend my winters in Phoenix and summers in Colorado and some part of the year on a beach..
  8. I'm for the death penality, but the current system is innefficient and inneffective. I'm a liberal Democrat, but believe in law & order..
  9. The problem is that the death penality is inneffficent the way it is done today...I think they need an instant death penality---the judge sentences, then five min. later a bullet to the head... I'm definitely a bleeding-heart liberal, but I have no problem with a more efficient system of terminating convicted murderers, pedophiles, car thieves, etc..
  10. Hmmm... For styling and design, my favorite decades are the '60s, '70s (early), '90s, and today. For driving enjoyment and creature comforts, the '90s and today, definitely.
  11. I suspect Isuzu will be gone from the US market in the next two years (at least the non-commercial vehicle market).
  12. I have a coworker who has an Envoy XL....I think about the only time the 3rd row is used is when he drives when when we go out to lunch (we call his SUV 'the bus'). it fits 6-7 average-size adults pretty well.
  13. A stretch 300 isn't something Chrysler can probably make a business case for manufacturing, but for a company like Accubilt it's their bread and butter.
  14. If I may: the front & rear are correct: 1961. The roofline was not common: it's the 4-window hardtop sedan, 4700 units built as a Series 62 (vs. 26K as a S62 6-window), 4847 built as a Sedan deVille (vs. 26K again as a SdV 6-window). Body style is xx39. This style is the '61 version of the 'flattop' 4-dr hardtops of '59-60. For '62 the xx39's wrap rear window was redesigned in favor of a more formal backlight. I agree that it does look unfamiliar, even to me. Then again I always glossed over the 4-drs in general... I think the '61 Buick and Olds C-bodies used that roofline also...pretty uncommon..I've rarely seen photos of them, let alone in person..
  15. Keep FWD models for the masses and Avis, and build a RWD GTO... the question is, what platform?
  16. Agreed about the Jeep 4.0L oil leaks...my '00 Grand Cherokee (67k miles now) has leaked for years...I've had seals replaced, oil pan gasket, etc and it still leaks. My g/f's '02 Wrangler has the 4.0 also and leaks as well..
  17. I would call them 'vintage'...certainly not late-model...
  18. Hmmm..that looks more like a '59 Caddy than any Chevywoo. Wierd..the pic didn't show up before..shows up now...
  19. Cobalt SS and Monte Carlo... :)
  20. Depends on when they had it, I guess..in the '80s when I was in high school there was one kid with a Fiero, but no one thought it was as cool as all the 5.0 Mustangs, Camaro IROCs, Firebird GTAs, or the one Buick Grand National in my school... :)
  21. I love those '60s-70s land yachts.... I saw a triple black '69 Impala SS 427 at a car show a few years ago...hidden headlights, Rallys...sweet car. I think my favorite B-bodies, though, are the 'fuselage' '71-73s (before the bumpers got so big)..
  22. I had a good time in Ohio--ate too much, watched too much football, and the weather on the 23rd was seriously sucky--snow and freezing rain on the drive from Pittsburgh over into Eastern Ohio....took over 2 hrs to go 75 miles. At least I had a pretty sweet rental car, though--an '06 DTS from Avis. The return flight to Denver on Sunday was uneventful..
  23. As good an effort GM has put forward with the Solstice, I can't help but feel that Mazda did a better job..the MX-5 is about 400lbs lighter, has a 6-speed manual, much nicer interior, and an easier-to use top with a bit more trunk space...
  24. What are the Atlas engines? The TrailBlazer's straight six would be nice to see in a Camaro instead of the predictable pushrod V6...
  25. Interesting...when I was in Cali for work last week (Oakland and San Fran), I saw at least 10 new Civics--mostly sedans, but a few coupes also.
