They have done a very good job of that IMO...would like to see some new sedans or coupes from them, but alas, I don't see that happening. -

The 3 series wasn't luxury in 1980..the 6 series and 7 series were the luxury BMWs....the 3 series was a compact sports sedan, the 5 was a midsize sports sedan... nothing really like them from the domestics in 1980.. Cadillac and Lincoln were in the large traditional floaty luxury sedan niche. -
Googling turns up this picture attributed to 1964. 1964 was the big one up there. Found some more car-related pics from it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_Alaska_earthquake

I was thinking it was the Alaska earthquake or one in Seattle from the early 60s..i've seen B&W photos of both and they included Chevys in the pics..this was the first I'd seen in color...interesting... I've seen pics from the Alaskan quake, but they were always grainy B&W...this is the first I'd seen in color.

They also had the V8-6-4 fiasco in '81. -
If I were spending time on my family farm, I'd love to have one of these to drive around and an old John Deere tractor. Old Ford stake bed and Ohio farms just seem to go together.

When they do something nasty like eat poo, then they are dogs. But most of the time they are cuddly, lovable furkids...:)

Yeah, the Polo has been the model below the Golf for 45 years, just not in the US. Think Sonic and Cruze. At one time, the US did get a smaller model--the Fox, but that was a rebadge of the Brazilian Gol. The VW lineup order is fairly clear for the US and various European countries, but gets very confusing if one looks at the lines in Mexico, Brazil, China or others...in China there are maybe 1/2 dozen different Golf-sized models each w/ different names and styling.

The Durango is basically a 3 row version of the WK2 Grand Cherokee w/ slightly different interior trim and different exterior..same good platform and engines.

It's fun to watch them come up to my patio and eat out of the bird feeders...but I don't like when they dig up the yard looking for grubs, or leave their poo pellets that a couple of my dogs love to hoover up...

Every day... esp. in the evening and at night..my motion-sensing cameras catch them meandering through front yard, across the driveway, down the side, in the backyard. Caught this pic of a bunch of them in the yard recently..

Snowing again...

A bit sore all over, twisted my back..have bruises on my right knuckles because I was holding the recycle bin handle and pulled it down on me as I fell.. and of course a couple hours later the ice had melted.

Had a bit here Wednesday night and light flurries yesterday, more coming today. Unusual to see April snow in Ohio, can't recall the last time I've seen that. Had a bit of ice on it, fell at the end of the driveway on my arse yesterday morning when rolling out the wheely bins.

Must have been a pretty rare option, never heard of that feature on other marques until maybe the late 90s...seem to recall Ford putting it in some SUVs (Navigator?)...

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Problem is, you can't avoid products or components of products made in China or Asia...with multinational companies and the supply chain, most any consumer product that is electronic or plastic is likely manufactured partially or fully somewhere in Asia, likely in China...that is the reality of the truth and isn't changing anytime soon, as companies always look for the lowest cost source of components...40+ years of globalization isn't changing anytime soon. As much as some people pine for the world to be like 1699 or 1950 or 1960 again or whenever their idealized era is, it isn't happening... -

Probably will be better than the last electric Chinese car sold in the US... the incredible Zap Xebra -
I miss the 747..largely out of service...I think BA flew their last one on the PHX<->LHR route in the last year...I took the BA 747s from PHX and DEN a few times back in the 00s, as well as 777s... loved flying on 747s. I used to see the BA ones taking off out of PHX Sky Harbor on the evening flight while driving down the 10.. I also remember walking around at Honolulu airport and seeing the 747s in various liveries lined up..love that airport, the way it's laid out you get great views of the planes.

If I wanted a 3 row I'd go for the Dodge Durango over any of these..the oldest of the bunch, but I like the design inside and out.

Sounds like as often is the case, Ford and Chevy are let down by cheap skating their products, esp. on the interiors.

I used Uber fairly frequently..was better than a grubby taxi. And being able to call one from my phone and pay/track from my phone as needed was great...I used Uber to get to/from the airport, out to dinner and concerts downtown, etc when I didn't want to deal w/ parking, etc. Back when the world was normal.
