  1. http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/engines/cc-weird-engines-outtake-oldsmobile-v5-diesel-grasping-at-straws/ Inpired by the X8, I was googling odd numbered V engines like V3s, V5s, etc. I found an Olds V5 Diesel engine prototype. Wild. I wonder if anyone ever experimented with weird configurations like a V6 w 4 and 2 rather than 3 and 3 or a V8 with 6 and 2 or 5 and 3 cylinders per bank.
  2. I wonder what ‘Third Generation’ means in this context. The current Sonata is in like its 7th or 8th generation.
  3. No, not bad...but today's Renegade and 2dr Wrangler are about 20 inches longer..
  4. To put the size in perspective..the current Fiat Panda Cross is a 4dr CUV about the same length as a 1980s Jeep CJ-7. So it's Jeep sized..
  5. At a light this afternoon saw a very clean 58 Chevy Apache stepside pickup. A dark teal w red steel wheels. Had a 1958 Ohio license plate.
  6. Tesla has one of those already, the former NUMMI Fremont plant...
  7. That's $99 CD, which would be $74 USD or about $296 USD/mo. 28 month lease is unusual, Canadian months. Don't think I've seen that in the US.
  8. I think that was intended for Europe and Asia...something Fiat Panda sized.
  9. Well, different names in different markets is nothing new for Jeep...the Liberty was called the Cherokee outside NA. Looking back at the slide, I see yet another 3-row...'Low D 3-row' between the next gen Cherokee and Grand Commander...wonder what that will be..another model for China? Maybe 'low' as in a more wagon-like silhouette? Not sure if the US needs a 3 row compact...
  10. Saw a clean Chevy Tahoe Hybrid in black on the freeway earlier. Don't see those very often. Also saw a sharp red Ferrari 458 Italia coupe..good weather to have a sports car out.
  11. I do like having more daylight in the evenings w DST. Went down to the lake after work this evening.
  12. The reality of the truth (or the truth of the reality) for GM looking at 2018 numbers is pretty sobering...there were only 3 models company wide with over 200,000 units per year--2 trucks and a CUV. The highest selling car was only 144k units..
  13. True..the Elco and those '61 2dr sedans were cool... I like the longer rear window overhang of the '59-60 4r hts, though. Too bad they didn't have an full size Elco from '61-63.
  14. Reading comprehension counts. Note it says F segment Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer. 2 models. The D-segment 3 row is a 4th model. Cars are a dying niche in NA...SUVs and trucks are the growth niches. No different than what Ford or GM are doing. And there always will be some overlap between the lines, like they have with the Compass and Cherokee now. And of course because of your biases, you conveniently overlook how many CUVs and SUVs Audi, BMW and M-B each have now and will have in 5 years...
  15. Heh-heh...now there is a high concept...an instant coffee cafe....
  16. Marketing, I guess...the local Quaker Steak & Lube here has several NASCAR and Indy Cars along w/ racing memorabilia on display...
  17. They should offer an Estate trim on the Enclave w/ faux wood side paneling, extra chrome, whitewall tires, hood ornament, etc.
  18. Nooo...the ES is the Avalon/Camry relative. The ES is a FWD/transverse engine model like the Avalon/Camry, the LS is a proper RWD full size sedan.
  19. 3 row SUVs are the station wagons/minivans of today..as long as there are families in the US, there are going to be family wagons of some form.
  20. Soon I hope....forecast says back to 30s and snow showers for the weekend here.
  21. I never liked the WK generation of GCs, as with most everything Chrysler built in the mid 00s, the interiors were cheap and nasty..wasn't a good period for them. I remember back in '05 checking out the new WK (my WJ was 5 years old then) and thinking the interior was garbage and the exterior styling was bland and weird (those headlight humps in the hood--ick). ..not as bad as the Liberty or Nitro, though.
  22. The Commander was odd in that it had the same wheelbase as the WK GC. I assume the 3rd row on the Commander was pretty cramped... (WK wheelbase was 109.x, WK2 GC wheelbase is 114.8, 3rd gen Durango wheelbase is 119.9).
  23. A weird thought, but I always thought it would have been interesting if GM had made a 2dr hardtop with that flat roof and wrap around rear window, as an alternative to the bubble top.
  24. I remember reading about that....speaking of NASCAR, I'd like to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte.
  25. No, the Grand Wagoneer is going to be the BOF Suburban/Escalade ESV type vehicle. Go back and look at the 5 yr plan slides from last year. The 3 row GC is a unibody Durango sized vehicle (E-segment 3 row). It’s all there in the slides. Time will tell how they execute that plan.
