  1. I think Cadillac has some great stuff...the Escalade, the sedans. But there really isn't anything special about their volume lease CUVs. They 'dare greatly' at times.
  2. True..look at all the variety of outputs Tesla has had with the Model S.
  3. Well, you don't see performance versions of CUVs or SUVs being made from FWD/transverse engine generic platforms...look at the good stuff--Range Rover Sport, Jag F-pace, Cayenne Turbo, GC Trackhawk, Mercedes AMG SUVs, BMW M SUVs--these are all proper AWD/RWD platforms.... and if Porsche didn't have the Cayenne, they would have long gone out of business..it's their money maker that enables them to build sports cars. The FWD/transverse engine CUVs are just minivans with less practicality. The whole purist bullshit argument against Porsche and BMW having SUVs is about 20 years out of date... I'd love to see Cadillac have a V-series SUV with the CTS-v powertrain, but that's not going to happen w/ a generic transverse engine platform...
  4. Interesting.. I wonder if one of AM's newer hypercars will appear like the Valkyrie...Fukunaga should be good as director, hopefully writing also (the first season of True Detective which he was involved with was excellent). Rami Malek as a villain, though? Ick...
  5. Problem is, the GM CUVs are hampered by having generic FWD/transverse engine platforms, which is the same kind of generic garden variety architecture the RX has...so they aren't aiming high.... they don't have proper AWD/RWD based CUV platforms like M-B, BMW, and Porsche have... for women leasing CUVs in suburbia to haul around offspring, the XT6 should do fine against the RX.
  6. The XT6 should do fine against the 3 row Lexus RX, though... that's more of it's target market than any of the European performance-oriented luxury CUVs.
  7. I suspect it I had to use an Android phone now it would end the same as my last two Android phones--smashed and stomped.
  8. Yes... they just work, work well, and you don't have to do much out of the box. As a software engineer I deal with endless, multi-level complexity on a daily basis....don't want to deal with it in my phone or my car...
  9. fig newtons
  10. And it's just a transverse 2.0L 4cyl FWD subcompact. $40k is way too much for such pedestrian crud...$30k would be high for something that low and common IMO.... but there are plenty of sheeple out there that will pay for the MB badge regardless of the plebeian hardware...

  12. http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/engines/cc-weird-engines-outtake-oldsmobile-v5-diesel-grasping-at-straws/ Inpired by the X8, I was googling odd numbered V engines like V3s, V5s, etc. I found an Olds V5 Diesel engine prototype. Wild. I wonder if anyone ever experimented with weird configurations like a V6 w 4 and 2 rather than 3 and 3 or a V8 with 6 and 2 or 5 and 3 cylinders per bank.
  13. I wonder what ‘Third Generation’ means in this context. The current Sonata is in like its 7th or 8th generation.
  14. No, not bad...but today's Renegade and 2dr Wrangler are about 20 inches longer..
  15. To put the size in perspective..the current Fiat Panda Cross is a 4dr CUV about the same length as a 1980s Jeep CJ-7. So it's Jeep sized..
  16. At a light this afternoon saw a very clean 58 Chevy Apache stepside pickup. A dark teal w red steel wheels. Had a 1958 Ohio license plate.
  17. Tesla has one of those already, the former NUMMI Fremont plant...
  18. That's $99 CD, which would be $74 USD or about $296 USD/mo. 28 month lease is unusual, Canadian months. Don't think I've seen that in the US.
  19. I think that was intended for Europe and Asia...something Fiat Panda sized.
  20. Well, different names in different markets is nothing new for Jeep...the Liberty was called the Cherokee outside NA. Looking back at the slide, I see yet another 3-row...'Low D 3-row' between the next gen Cherokee and Grand Commander...wonder what that will be..another model for China? Maybe 'low' as in a more wagon-like silhouette? Not sure if the US needs a 3 row compact...
  21. Saw a clean Chevy Tahoe Hybrid in black on the freeway earlier. Don't see those very often. Also saw a sharp red Ferrari 458 Italia coupe..good weather to have a sports car out.
  22. I do like having more daylight in the evenings w DST. Went down to the lake after work this evening.
  23. The reality of the truth (or the truth of the reality) for GM looking at 2018 numbers is pretty sobering...there were only 3 models company wide with over 200,000 units per year--2 trucks and a CUV. The highest selling car was only 144k units..
  24. True..the Elco and those '61 2dr sedans were cool... I like the longer rear window overhang of the '59-60 4r hts, though. Too bad they didn't have an full size Elco from '61-63.
