They are so boring and predictable...they all look like they were drawn by boys going through puberty or something out of a cheesy sci-fi show. And they always catch on fire. Just carbon fiber toys....

Volvo News: Volvo Setting 112 MPH Speed Limit on All Cars in 2020

Driving skills and car maintenance in general are so awful in the US I couldn't imagine the level of carnage with autobahn level speed limits here..Americans in general are too incompetent. They would be playing on their phones, ironing clothes, eating, etc.. IIRC at one time the German automakers had an agreement to have 155mph as the top speed on their cars. -
Interesting concept..I keep seeing the '72 Plymouth Fury front end with that 'barbell' nose theme..

Odd naming...would have thought they would have gone with CX-4. CX-30 sounds too much like an Infiniti name. Good looking CUV, though.

Speed rating on tires are often a limiting factor... -

112 mph is 180 km/h...maybe that has some significance. Otherwise, seems like a random number. -

Higher speed crashes tend to have more fatalities than lower speed crashes, regardless of the maker of the car. And in other news, boiling water can burn one's hands. -
GM alone probably had at least that many dealers. I remember as a kid in 1980 every little town in my area in Ohio had a new car dealer or two it seemed. Anecdotal, but probably similar across the country. Today dealers seem to be concentrated in larger locations, corporate owned chains, and auto mall locations close to major cities and freeways. Of course, there were a lot more stores period back then, not just more car dealerships. Doesn't seem that long ago since it's within my lifetime, but nearly 40 years!

I could see a speed limiter being an issue on a Porsche, but on a Volvo? Has anyone every actually gone over a speed limit in a Volvo? Speeding really isn’t in the Volvo image. -
2019 for the Cherokee, it looks like according to Wikipedia. With the facelift it got UConnect 4 with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Looks like the Grand Cherokee got that for 2018.

Yeah, in the real world torque is way more useful than horsepower... I remember a few times driving my sister's Trax in AZ w/ the metered stop lights on ramps and the challenge of getting up to speed to get on the freeway... my old Jeep was passable....but the DTS excelled in the ramp-to-freeway dash... -
I usually never have headroom issues in cars (6'0"/240lbs), and I usually never sit in the back seat of any vehicle, but sitting in the back seat of the CT6 at the car show Saturday I was surprised my forehead was hitting the rear sunroof surround (was fine up front). In the rear, there is recessed area between the rear window and sunroof surround my head fit it, which seemed weird. Plenty of legroom, though. The sloping semi-fastback roofline on so many sedans really cuts into rear seat headroom.. I didn't try the backseat of the Regal GS or CTS, but I imagine it would be tight back there for me.

Funny...with my iPhone, I get a notice from the Verizon Wireless app that I'm in a Verizon store and would I like to give any feedback, when I'm actually in one of a couple restaurants that I frequent in a local strip mall that have a Verizon Store between them. What's funny is I've never been in that store..

And the ads were Verizon ads IIRC. Hated that phone.

My last Motorola Android phone--the Razr--had a tendency to hang and become non-responsive..frequently. The last straw was a night where it locked up and starting playing audio advertisements in the middle of the night. It inexplicably stopped working after I threw it at a wall and stomped on it. No more Android shit for me after that.

Ya...I use a tempered glass screen protector and a Tech 21 flexible case w/ metal inserts on the corners. Though the screen protector didn't save my iPhone 5s that I dropped off the 6th floor of a parking garage by accident.

Battery life has been a sore point with iPhones for me in the past. My last (iPhone 6s) lasted 3 years. I'm almost a year into my 7. Back before I switched to iPhones I had a couple Motorola Droids and Motorola Razr..(back in the pre-smart phone era I had several Motorolas--Star Tac, V60, etc). I generally liked the Motorolas but the flakiness once they got past a year old or so did them in for me.

I've been wanting to do that for years...maybe this summer. Been to Pittsburgh many times, but haven't explored the surrounding area much.

I see no problem with speed limiting...outside of the autobahn and race tracks, there aren't any real world use cases where one would or need to go much past 85.. -
Agreed on all points. I like the consistency of Apple products... I have no interest in customizing a phone--- I'm not a teenager. I like technology that is solid and predictable. It is funny, thinking about customizing your software environment..whether a computer or phone. I remember at one time when I was young and crazy, I actually cared about such stuff--setting up my laptop, worrying about Linux distributions and packages, setups, endless minutae, etc. Now that I'm old, cynical and burned out.. I just don't care..thats why I stick w/ Apple products--they just work and you don't have to f*ck around.. I like technology that works well out of the box and doesn't require fiddling. I really can't imagine life without a smart phone...so convenient having a little computer with me at all times. I remember back in the day when I first got a cell phone 20+ years ago...it only did calls, no email or internet..seems so quaint and old-fashioned.

My iPhone 6s had 64gb and I filled it up. My iPhone 7 has 128gb and so far I've only put 50.3GB on it. Most of that usage is probably the 7000+ photos synched from iCloud and my music and podcasts. Storage can never be enough.

Nice...'56 Plymouth I think...
