  1. Saw some nice oldies this afternoon, all in minty shape. A '65 Shelby GT350 in white w/ blue stripes, a white '75-75 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and a dark red '66-67 Lincoln Continental convertible (both top down).
  2. Saw a bright green '15 Challenger R/T convertible w black wheels rolling along in traffic, top down. Saw 2 Bentley Continental convertibles, one black, one dark blue. All within a mile along Scottsdale Road near my office
  3. C-pillar looks cribbed from recent Nissan design cues...
  4. I've seen a couple of the new Maximas around..they are...different. An improvement, I suppose over the styling of the last 2 generations, which were rather bland..
  5. Hmmm... and Renault is in bed with Datsun, and Chevy sells the Datsun NV200 here in the U.S. as the City Express... Which, BTW, I have seen like ZERO City Express vans around here on the road, and only very few NV200s... the Transit Connect RULES the tiny van market. We won't mention the ProMaster City... I have yet to see a City Express or a Pro Master City in the Phoenix area. The only NV200s I've seen are on the front row of the Nissan dealer. Maybe GM could do a JV to get a variation of the NV1500-3500 and put GM engines and Chevy/GMC noses on them.. Note that Nissan hasn't used the Datsun name in the US in 30 years or so..
  6. Yeah, the large Opel/Vauxhall Movano is a JV w/ Renault (it's based on the Renault Master), and the midsize Vivano is based on the Renault Trafic.
  7. Saw a '64 Cadillac Coupe de Ville in dark gray w/ a red interior in great shape at the mall, except the grille was mashed in...looked like it had had a low speed collision.
  8. My last rental was a Chevy Tahoe LT. Very pleasant to drive.
  9. Saw a new '16 Kia Optima in a restaurant parking lot tonight..didn't realize it had been redesigned...the nose is slicker but similar to the previous model, biggest change I noticed is the 6 light greenhouse...
  10. My ex-brother-in-law #1 had one, a '74ish one...was orange then he repainted it burgundy. I remember riding in it a few times...he moved it from Ohio to Arizona in 1980 w/ my sister. He was constantly working on it, had all sorts of electrical issues.
  11. I like how Buick has brought back the colors to the badge...not sure when this happened, but I recall them eliminating them some years ago..
  12. A CT6 V-series would probably outsell the hybrid..
  13. The greenhouse looks a lot like the Equus, esp. the sweep of the quarter window. I like the tailights, something different. Looks like a nice cruiser.
  14. Interesting that Honda and Toyota (Scion) are the last in the US market 2dr FWD compact game, long after everyone else abandoned that niche...
  15. Saw a red VW Clasico yesterday in traffic...basically a revised 4th gen Jetta (different taillights, decklid, rear bumper) with Sinaloa plates..
  16. Well, it is their entry level CUV...below the RX. I guess the luxury package and the hybrid spec drives the price so high..
  17. Always liked the first gen SC, forgot they offered a manual w/ the 6 in the US
  18. Many factors..it's about the potential of cargo space when you need it--sedan trunks are useless for boxes and other bulky content...I find myself folding down the back seat and putting content in my Jeep once a month or more that I couldn't do with a sedan...other selling points are the ride height and ease of getting in and out. Sedans are so low by comparison. And the perceived utility of AWD for winter. After 20+ years of driving SUVs I'd find it hard to go to a sedan for the daily driver...I don't need a truck, but a CUV/SUV suits me and countless other drivers..
  19. Brand, reputation, and lease deals, I presume. Plenty of consumers won't consider Cadillac or the Germans (poor Consumer Reports scores) but anything Toyota gets their attention...
  20. It's been a Cadillac market for probably a century, though...acceleration, handling and performance have been Cadillac marketing attributes only in recent times..
  21. Speaking of VW, I was behind a blue Jetta tonight that had a Hybrid badge instead of the usual TDI badge...didn't realize they had a Hybrid.
  22. Got to be low volume anymore...I've never seen any of the XTS based ones in person.
