  1. And Google has placed a black bar over it's homepage doodle...
  2. DMCA, SOPA, PIPA are tools to support the obsolete 20th century business models of the recording/media industries..they need to evolve for the internet era without legislative nonsense or go out of business.
  3. Given Fords recent success w/ their V6 model, I assume this strategy will be different w/ the next Silverado...
  4. Ick...I like that era Caddy, but the modifications are backyard hot rodder type crap....the gauges in the center of the dash in particular...ick..where are the dash vents? Stereo? HVAC controls?
  5. That is in the past... Isn't Holden getting the Malibu soon also (to replace the Epica)...the next Commodore will probably be badge engineered from the upcoming Epsilon II Impala... Toyota being the #1 seller indicates Aussies of today aren't that different than Genericans, buying FWD appliances....
  6. If they could cut down the obesity of the Silverado by 1000-1500lbs, then maybe the base model could have a turbo 4...and isn't the standard engine in the Silverado the 4.3 V6?
  7. The 140 is the next generation Eclipse that Mitsubishi won't build..
  8. I always liked the rear end design of the Reatta and the back window of the coupe..the rest of the car, though was rather 'meh'...
  9. This kind of reminds me of a story in Denver from a few years ago...a guy was like 92, had been in the same house 60+ years..had a small well-worn house on a square lot on a busy street in a neighborhood that had been gentrified--big glass and steel office buildings, apartment buildings, restaurants, etc around him...he had a faded late '60s Ford pickup in the driveway, a brown '69 Galaxie w/ weeds up around it beside the house, and a falling in garage w/ a '57 Ford peeking out..there was an article on him in the paper around 2005 about his fight against the city over zoning changes... I drove down that street last year, and his place was all gone, replaced by a shiny new Chipotle w/ parking lot...
  10. Because Holden sells cars on every inhabited continent for one thing. Okay, but all of those vehicles sold by manufactured by "Holden" could be made in other places at a cost comparative basis. Last time i checked, Holden is only sold in Australia. Yeah, they have Chevrolets in NA and middle east and Vauxhalls in UK, but manufacturing in the US might make more sense. For some markets, I'm sure it would - for others not so much. But having no homegrown model would surely cripple the brand in Oz. I wonder, though, if over time Australians have become like most buyers in the US--abandoning RWD largish cars for FWD 4cyl generics...
  11. Because Holden sells cars on every inhabited continent for one thing. Not really...Holden exports cars to other markets where they are sold under other GM brands....those Commodores and Caprices could be built elsewhere...the Holden brand is OZ (and NZ?) only...
  12. One thing weird w/ their naming scheme is there is no progression...MKZ is the junior car to the MKS instead of the other way around...MKT sort of fits relative to MKS, though...
  13. If they did that, then they would have failed their course. Of course, since Columbia is a 'leftist nazi' institution of immense pedigree, the school was totally willing to turn such a horribly skewed result into propaganda so they can socially engineer us into 'leftist nazi' sympathizers!! You're a genius!! I thought Nazis were rightists more than leftists.....it's pretty moronic to throw the work 'nazi' around so lightly. I know several people that are Columbia grads, it's a fine school.. And as a former grad student myself, you don't make up data...that's not how the scientific process works...there are ethical conduct standards to adhere to..
  14. Bingo...
  15. Bingo. Bingo on the Bonus Question being the Beeb.
  16. Didn't you quit GM, go to BMW for like a day, then back to GM a couple of years ago? That's where the 'waffle' comment came from..
  17. That's just like the one I saw this morning...was sitting in a bagel shop and looked out and saw it in the lot outside the window in the predawn drizzle..took a moment to correlate the Chevy grille w/ the Saturn headlights till I realized what it was...
  18. Neat...like the white & blue inside and out. I rarely ever see Novas of that generation, let alone other X-bodies...
  19. Done. Great to hear this. My experience w/ Unix/Linux has been that someone w/ deep skill esp. in tuning is worth their weight in gold (cliche, I know).
  20. Everything based off that list sucks. Well, it is all FWD product, but that's what the general public buys..those are GM's profitable platforms worldwide. GM, like Ford, Toyota, etc is in business to sell appliances...
  21. ok...no idea what that is, but the grille w/ the fewer bars looks like the '75 grille from what I've seen in image searches..but w/ the '76-77 stacked rectangular lights..
  22. Both of the ones I saw had vertical bars, but one had many closely spaced vertical bars, the other had fewer vertical bars further apart...
  23. Trying to get more agression and violence in their designs, I guess... the red coupe from Lexus at the NAIAS looks better than the LF-A, IMO...at least from the pics.
  24. Interesting...didn't realize they still had it..thought the Passat and Touareg had a normal V6.
