  1. Fun... I miss living where car dealers are closed on Sundays, when I could wander around and look at the cars..remember going to a BPG dealer a few years ago, there were five indentical yr old DTSes on the lot, unlocked. 2 unlocked GTOs also.
  2. Nice sunny spring weather here yesterday, though rainy today. Saw two clean '65 Mustangs--a white coupe w/ red interior and a silver blue coupe. Saw a '63-64 or so Rambler Classic 4dr, hard to tell the color..looked like a faded silver blue or green. Probably the original paint.
  3. chickpea
  4. The world is full of a lot of seriously f'd up people.
  5. On a Boat--The Lonely Island. Listening to the whole Incredibad album tonite..fun stuff.
  6. Saw a black '10 Taurus SHO today..first SHO I've seen on the road, I think..
  7. The OHC vs pushrod argument will be forever arguable, as long as GM and Chrysler stick w/ pushrod. Both designs have their merits.
  8. Don't necessarily need more cubic inches. Cubic inches aren't the only way to make more power and/or torque. They are still the top selling trucks, so obviously they aren't that much of a laggard.
  9. I assume the 5.5 will be in the C-class AMG as well (the current one has the 6.2 V8). Engine packaging is really only an issue with a FWD transverse setup where there are space constraints....if RWD compacts like the BMW 3-series and Merc C-class can fit a DOHC V8, then the space argument is moot.. What's funny is the truck fans always make an argument against OHC V8s, but Ford has built a lot of them for over a decade now...
  10. I went to college with a Richard Head..went by 'Dick'. I worked with someone w/ first name Dong and had a professor Wang in college (pronounced 'Wong'). 'Akbar Zeb' would be a great name for a rapper, he could brag about the meaning of his handle in Arabic..
  11. Strange..different perceptions of time, I guess. 1980 is pretty old to me..6 years before I was driving. 30 years ago. Of course, for 1/2 or 3/4 of the C&Gers 1980 is ancient--before they were born probably.
  12. Got to be the Buick Special. That car had the small aluminium V8, it's name was used previously, '62 was it's second year. The Tempest and F-85 also used that engine, but those names weren't used before. And the Porsche reference would be to a 356 Carerra of the day. 1962 is so long ago, might as well be 1902..but through the power of the internet, lots of facts can be uncovered.
  13. Hmmm...the original compact Olds F85 and Buick Special used that engine, I think. I don't believe the Pontiac Tempest/LeMans used it.
  14. Had Oldsmobile continued, I'd love to have seen a Toronado revival, as a largish coupe based on the Aurora w/ it's own styling...
  15. As far as a phantom version of a recent car, I'd like to see a G8 hardtop coupe. An Eldorado coupe version of the Caddy STS would be interesting also.
  16. Then they have models like the Miata that seem to primarily appeal to an older male demographic (Road & Track readers that pined for MGs and Triumphs).
  17. Well, he wasn't specific about which Carrera... the 911 Carrera 4 is still current... without knowing the specific model years, it's hard to determine what car it is.
  18. Those old Internationals are neat..I used to see a crew cab pickup one in that green back in Colorado Springs. The Lonestar is pretty cool..the grille is supposed to be evocative of a '30s International truck. Reminds me of the PT Cruiser front end scaled up.
  19. +2
  20. Hmmm..the clues in the 2nd email lead me to think Hyundai Genesis coupe, but it's not available w/ a V8. Unless this is sometime in the past, not 2010.
  21. On the afternoon commute I saw an 'Avalade'--a black current gen Avalanche that had had all the regular badging removed, Cadillac wreath & crests and 'Escalade' badging added, and a faux-Escalade chrome grille added. Strange.
  22. Sales of subcompacts is very dependent on gas prices..gas is cheap now, if it goes back up to $4/gallon this summer, watch sales of subcompacts take off...
  23. Ah..5th and 6th gen...or Mk5/Mk6 as they are often referred to in the press.
