  1. Yeah, being that old it probably had over 100k and was nickel and diming them to death. I'm sure the owners will be happier with something new. The resale value on SUVs--esp. full size ones has tanked since last summer. Rob
  2. At first glance, I thought the front page was announcing Saturn was under new ownership...(whatever happened to the Penske deal, anyway?) Rob
  3. Saw a beige Austin America on the back of a car hauler, minty condition. Don't think I've ever seen one of those in person. Also, a bright blue (non stock) '70 Cuda w/ chrome wheels and a black stripe w/ the hood up on the side of the road...must have plorched in the 113 degree heat. Rob
  4. Went out at lunch...hot, sunny..car said it was 43.5C out (about 110F). Saw a goregous met. med-dark red '57 Buick ht waft by...or was it a mirage in the desert heat? So much chrome, whitewall tires, beautiful. Rob
  5. Yes...the notorious '99-04 Grand Cherokee driver's seat track problem bit me a week ago Sunday. The power mechanism works fine, all 8 ways..but the track metal sheared off on the left front corner and right rear corner, right below where the track bolts to the seat base. So the seat rocks side to side. I was able to get the track unbolted from the floor last night...da*mn 115 degree heat..I despise Arizona with every fabric of my soul..got to get out of this state. Now I have to unbolt the seat from the track and disconnect the wiring. Ordered a shop manual DVD. I've found salvage, working tracks for $250 on ebay, better than paying $750-1000 for a dealer to replace the entire seat and track. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH Rob
  6. Yeah..it is ridiculous. Just kidding about scrapping my Jeep....but having the seat track break really ticked me off.. Rob
  7. Maybe I should do that with my Jeep. Working to fix the d*mn broken driver's seat track now. Rob
  8. We have that chain in Denver. Excellent burgers. I like Fatburger a lot also. Rob
  9. Car magazines...I distinctly remember C&D back in the day referring to them as GM-10s. Rob
  10. I wondered about that..in the press, they were referred to as GM10s in the late '80s...don't recall seeing them referred to as W-bodies until the mid '90s. Rob
  11. Well, they are probably the most unique and interesting of the W-bodies/GM10s (when did GM change the platform name from GM10 to W ?) Rob
  12. The red one reminds me of the car my buddy Dennis has had since '99...back in '00, I helped him replace the 'beer tap' door handle on the driver's door. He still has it, along w/ his vintage GTOs, an '06 GTO and the '09 G8 GT he bought recently (haven't seen that one yet, maybe see it on my next trip to Colorado). Rob
  13. I'm not familiar with the Assurance TripleTreds, but I put a set of the Goodyear Fortera TripleTreds on my Grand Cherokee in Oct. 07. They are reasonably quiet, and very good in snow, slush and rain during the 1 winter in Colorado I drove w/ them on. They seem to wear well, I have about 30k on them now, been rotating every 3k. They were about $175 each installed, IIRC. I went w/ the Forteras specifically for the snow rating and mild off road use rating. They seem to be more resistant to picking up nails/etc than the original Wranglers were. Rob
  14. Maybe the front track is a lot narrower than the width of the body..plus, that's on '50s tires, which are about as wide as motorcycle tires today..j/k. Wierd looking car, never seen on of those in person. Rob
  15. Happy Birthday, all!
  16. Wot are those? I think back in the day, Chrysler branded their performance parts 'Direct Connection' or something like that.. Rob
  17. A good read on this subject is John Stossel's book 'Fast Food Nation'.
  18. Yeah, Blue Oval News' forums don't even have a working search engine and the 'View New Posts' doesn't work there either. Rob
  19. They really should..since many of their customers are the obese poor, they should make realistic ads. Their ads showing fit people doing active things (biking, etc) are unrealistic...fit, athletic people don't eat fast food $h!. Rob
  20. Which is great...the more space between the door and wheel well, the better. One of things I love about the proportions of many BMWs and Mercs--short front overhang, lots of space between the wheel and door, proudly RWD in a world of FWD mediocrity. Rob
  21. Not yet...it's a new tool, so there will probably be other versions. By the way, here is a good site with pics of pretty much all of the JL cars to date.. JL Collector Rob
  22. Had a really tasty Kobe beef burger w/ carmelized onions, bacon and gorgonzola cheese yesterday at Blu Burger Grille, a local chain. Quite tasty. Blu Burger Rob
  23. Saw a '58 or 59 Chevy Apache pickup, a longbed stepside, kind of a brick red w/ white bumpers and grille....good condition. Rob
  24. I really want to do the road trip from Denver to San Francisco. In a white Challenger. I've done the reverse--sort of--San Jose to Denver in an '04 Impala. Not the same. Rob
