Solid progress...any tally on how many hours has been spent on this endeavour so far? Good to see it back on the road.

That Caddy on the car hauler reminds me of a car I saw a couple months ago when I was back in Colorado...drove down to Colorado Springs from Denver on a rainy Friday...stopped for gas along I-25, and saw pulling out of the gas station a car hauler with a goregous black '57 Buick convertible at the top rear position. Had a couple FWD generics down below and a yellow '67 Chevelle in front of the Century on top.

Ya, I think the Fury was the IPC in '65 and that was the color scheme. I was going up a flyover ramp from one freeway to another and looked down for some reason and spotted it going the other direction on the freeway I had just exited, top down.

These made the rounds at work today...working in the software development group of a major bank, we found it amusing.. NBC Article CNN Article

Speaking of being flattened by a bus, I saw an inattentive tourist who was trying to read a map step out in front of a moving double decker bus in London a few years ago, a guy behind her grabbed the back of her coat and pulled her back on the sidewalk... You really have to pay attention to your environment when walking.--Captain Obvious.

Today--a white w/ blue interior and top down '65 Plymouth Fury convertible on the freeway this morning, pretty sweet. Two Nissan Cubes--one white, one silver w/ a kayak and mountain bike on the roof. And at work, I parked next to a Seville (one of the tiny ones that looked like an N-car, from around '87 or so) that had been dark red, but 20+ years in AZ nuked the paint to a flat pinkish red, incl. the plastic bumpers...had a very strange wear pattern on the dark red interior--all 4 door panels were ripped open at the top edges, revealing hideous yellow foam stuff inside.

Everything, from pop culture to politics today, is based on conflict. Opponents rip each other apart constantly. It's a dog-eat-dog, f*ck you world out there.

Integrated looks a lot better in the car than a tacked-on 3rd party one. I've never had a car w/ nav, probably wouldn't order one, but if it were there, I'd consider it. I still have never found myself needing one, I can read maps and always print out a Google map if going somewhere unfamiliar.

That's just because GM is being cheap....both the Challenger and Mustang offer NAV, as do countless other, cheaper smaller cars.

It's one of those things that should be there as an option, though. The Mustang and others offer it. Cabin tech is as important in today's market as what's under the hood.

The CX is probably the fleet version for Avis/etc to replace their G6s. I think those are cheap looking steel or aluminum wheels, though, not wheel covers---you can see the brakes through them. They look like something for a Cobalt or Impala, though.

Heh-heh...when I have to wear a tie, I print out instructions and read them as I tie it in front of the bathroom mirror. You'd think that after 20+ years I would have mastered that skill...

I have about 30 ties, but the only time I've worn any in the last 2 years were job interviews and a wedding. These days, my corporate wear is khakis (Dockers, Nautica, Ralph Lauren, etc) w/ button down or stayed collar dress shirts (various brands from Dillards, mostly, though I shop Men's Wearhouse or Target occasionally), or polo shirts in summer. Fridays I usually wear Levis or Wranglers jeans w/ polos. Weekends I wear shorts w/ Hawaiian shirts (several Tommy Bahama and other) or polos. I don't wear t-shirts that much anymore, other than at concerts. I do like wearing black occasionally, but doesn't work too well in the desert heat.

Well written and entertaining, with many amusing passages and lines---the interior description, engine note description, and the styling description in particular. Even made me look up a word I'd never seen before--'jeroboam'.

True, the initial Europe and NA Chevywoos have been mediocre sh*tboxes (Aveo, G3,Lacetti, etc) but they did design the new Cruze, Spark, Orlando, and Viva, so maybe something semi decent will come from them..

I've noticed some oddness over the last week, when typing into a form for a post, as I am doing right now, occasionally the cursor suddenly backspaces to the beginning of the word I'm typing--or back several words. I've seen this behaviour on these forums and another that is also using IP.Board (2.3.1 and 2.3.6), on multiple computers---a Win XP machine using Chrome, a Vista machine w/ both Chrome and Firefox 3.5. Anyone seen anything like this? It can be very annoying when it happens 5-6 times in typing a post, as it did typing this one.

I've come to like XKCD.. esp. the math angle. I think I'm at the point in my life where I'm not interested in being in a startup environment w/ 20 somethings that work all the time, are underpaid, and seem to live to work, not the other way around. I went through that phase earlier in my career and burnt myself out on it. Now I prefer being a contractor/consultant and work a straight 40 hours at a good bill rate, and get paid overtime if I have to work overtime once in a while.

Speaking of IT guys named Dave, at the company I was at almost 5 years, our CM (configuration management) guy was named Dave...everyone liked him, etc. At some point, he decided to leave the company. The new guy that took his place was also named Dave, but had a gruff personality, not as much fun as Old Dave. So everyone on my team took to calling him New Dave. We'd go out for Thai, ask him, he said he didn't like Thai, and we'd say 'Old Dave liked Thai. We liked Old Dave'. Etc...hilarity ensued. A year or so later he left the company. He replacement was a Mike, so he immediately became known as 'Not Dave'.

Dilbert has it's ups and downs. But so often over the last 15 years or years or so, it's been a slightly exaggerated view of life in corporate America. It's been too real for me at times in cubeland.

I just can't get into it...now User Friendly and Dilbert I can relate to.

Lately, since seeing Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood in concert a couple weeks ago, I've been listening to their Live at Madison Square Garden CD and alot of old Traffic, Cream, Blind Faith, and their solo work from the '70s-80s. I'm a classic rock fan at heart.. As far as 'new' music, I've listened to the Toxic Airborne Event and The Gaslight Anthem a lot lately...liking both bands.
