  1. I wondered about that..in the press, they were referred to as GM10s in the late '80s...don't recall seeing them referred to as W-bodies until the mid '90s. Rob
  2. Well, they are probably the most unique and interesting of the W-bodies/GM10s (when did GM change the platform name from GM10 to W ?) Rob
  3. The red one reminds me of the car my buddy Dennis has had since '99...back in '00, I helped him replace the 'beer tap' door handle on the driver's door. He still has it, along w/ his vintage GTOs, an '06 GTO and the '09 G8 GT he bought recently (haven't seen that one yet, maybe see it on my next trip to Colorado). Rob
  4. I'm not familiar with the Assurance TripleTreds, but I put a set of the Goodyear Fortera TripleTreds on my Grand Cherokee in Oct. 07. They are reasonably quiet, and very good in snow, slush and rain during the 1 winter in Colorado I drove w/ them on. They seem to wear well, I have about 30k on them now, been rotating every 3k. They were about $175 each installed, IIRC. I went w/ the Forteras specifically for the snow rating and mild off road use rating. They seem to be more resistant to picking up nails/etc than the original Wranglers were. Rob
  5. Maybe the front track is a lot narrower than the width of the body..plus, that's on '50s tires, which are about as wide as motorcycle tires today..j/k. Wierd looking car, never seen on of those in person. Rob
  6. Happy Birthday, all!
  7. Wot are those? I think back in the day, Chrysler branded their performance parts 'Direct Connection' or something like that.. Rob
  8. A good read on this subject is John Stossel's book 'Fast Food Nation'.
  9. Yeah, Blue Oval News' forums don't even have a working search engine and the 'View New Posts' doesn't work there either. Rob
  10. They really should..since many of their customers are the obese poor, they should make realistic ads. Their ads showing fit people doing active things (biking, etc) are unrealistic...fit, athletic people don't eat fast food $h!. Rob
  11. Which is great...the more space between the door and wheel well, the better. One of things I love about the proportions of many BMWs and Mercs--short front overhang, lots of space between the wheel and door, proudly RWD in a world of FWD mediocrity. Rob
  12. Not yet...it's a new tool, so there will probably be other versions. By the way, here is a good site with pics of pretty much all of the JL cars to date.. JL Collector Rob
  13. Had a really tasty Kobe beef burger w/ carmelized onions, bacon and gorgonzola cheese yesterday at Blu Burger Grille, a local chain. Quite tasty. Blu Burger Rob
  14. Saw a '58 or 59 Chevy Apache pickup, a longbed stepside, kind of a brick red w/ white bumpers and grille....good condition. Rob
  15. I really want to do the road trip from Denver to San Francisco. In a white Challenger. I've done the reverse--sort of--San Jose to Denver in an '04 Impala. Not the same. Rob
  16. How about the mainstream choice---Accord, Camry, or the new Prius? Rob
  17. In the afternoon commute, I saw a clean white w/ red interior '64 Ford Fairlane 500 ht. Also saw a blue Chevy Corsa sedan and red Chevy Astra sedan, both with Sonora plates. Rob
  18. I don't mind overhangs if the shape is balanced overall..it's the short wheel-to-door distance on most FWDs that I don't like. Wheel wells shouldn't intrude on the driver footwell on a front engined car, IMHO. Rob
  19. Oooh... the Atom is definitely a car I'd like to have. So living near a track where I can get track time is important. Rob
  20. I prefer it backwards, hanging from the back. More efficient, less waste. My thing w/ TP is my fear of running out. I like to keep at least a 24 pack of Charmin in each bathroom at all times. Even keep a 4 pack in each car in case of emergency (i.e. violent reaction to spicy restaurant food). Rob
  21. Driving to work this AM-- a 20-something blonde driving a clean green and white '69-70 longbed Chevy pickup... Cool.. a very clean red w/ black top '67 Mustang coupe. Another '10 Camaro, this time a bright red SS. This makes 6 different '10 Camaros I've seen in the last week.... Rob
  22. I'd take a year to go to travel to many motorsport events, classic car shows and museums. Goodwood Festival of Speed, Monterey Historics, Indy 500, a few F1 races in Europe, the Paris Retromobile show, the 24 hrs of LeMans, Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise, Pebble Beach Concours, Meadowbrook. Travel and see various racetracks, like Imola, Spa, Brands Hatch, Laguna Seca, Lime Rock. Visit Stuttgart, Maranello, etc. Attend a driving school or two--Bondurant, Jim Russell at Sears Point. Buy or have built a nice 20 car garage/barn w/ a decent sized house. Not sure what metro area, but probably not PHX. Build an eclectic collection, with a mix of current/late model favorites (G8 GXP, CTS-v, Camaro SS, Bullitt Mustang, Mustang Shelby GT500, Town Car, Marauder, CVPI, Challenger, etc) for daily drivers and some '60s-70s classics. Rob
  23. This is turning into a truly great non sequitur thread of randomness
  24. Only if you are making a call, i.e. using it as a 'phone'. But you can also type a text message, an URL, etc...
