  1. Maybe it's a European thing.
  2. Hmm....good catch. The mystery continues. I wonder what a Dodge or Chrysler rear of the same year looks like? Rob
  3. Looks like a round hole down low (branch sticking thru). Here's a pic of a '35 Plymouth..the rear window shape and raised character lines are similar.. That hole could be where the fuel filler was..found some pics of a '33 Plymouth that look like that..
  4. Hmmm..the rear of the body is pretty flat and vertical, could be a truck...hard to tell from the pic how far forward the body goes...and that almost looks like a piece of a b-pillar (wood?) on the left. Rob
  5. You're older than me... Rob
  6. Hmm....don't think I've ever thought of it as 'keying'...it's always been typing to me, whether on a computer or a phone.. Rob
  7. Ah...that one. Something ancient. Car bodies from the early 30s all look alike to me, pretty hard to tell apart, IMHO. Rob
  8. Ahhh...the new GM wants you back?
  9. Strange...I saw a Prius w/ it's flashers on the side of the freeway this morning, far left breakdown lane by the HOV lane. A Toyota? breakdown? That's unpossible!! Rob
  10. Hmmm..wild guess, but maybe an early '50s Chrysler hardtop like this '52 Windsor..the quarter window shape, roof shape, and rear fender placement look similar..
  11. I wonder why they went retro and didn't use a current 300C instead...
  12. I think those proportions look fine on a mid-engined car, though... But on a FWD car, not so much.
  13. True enough. It's not really the all-out handling capability that turns me off of most FWD cars--it's the styling..far too many of them have such short front wheel to front door dimensions and long overhangs, they look wierdly proportioned to my eye... Torque steer seems to be largely a thing of the past in most FWD today. Speaking of FWD, the nicest handling FWD cars I've driven are a last gen (4th?) Prelude, a Focus SVT, and an '04 VW Golf GTI...really liked the Golf all around..love the interior of that vintage Golf. Rob
  14. The OEM Goodyear Eagle GTs on my Mustang lasted about 20k miles. But that was 20+ years ago. Their replacement Eagle GTs lasted maybe 25 miles, and the replacement Firestone Firehawks have less than 20k on them. Rob
  15. Interesting...I think that is the eastern part of the US 50 I've driven on in Colorado and Utah...goes through some pretty desolate landscapes. Also been on it in Ohio years ago. Rob
  16. My Dad used to do that, look for places to pull off when were on 2 lane roads in the Winnebago and traffic backed up behind us... A 35 ft RV towing a car can't go too fast on 2 lane roads...we usually stuck to the interstates, but to get to many National Parks, etc you have to take the two lanes... Rob
  17. Ya...I've only had one pullover w/ suspicion of drinking..coming home from a party in grad school, w/ my g/f and a couple other friends in the Bronco, they were all totally wasted..I'd had about 3 beers....3 hours earlier. I did a California roll right turn, there was a police cop hiding in the darkness (it was about 3:30 am). I did the sobriety tests and passed, got off with a warning about the turn. Rob
  18. Me too...I like the '71 B-body coupes as much as I do the '61 and '65s. I esp. like the '71 Buick coupes. Rob
  19. Saw a metallic burnt orange Smart ForTwo Brabus on the road this afternoon. Totally badazz in a wannabe sort of way.
  20. Years ago in Ohio, I used to frequently drive a section of a 2-lane state route near my folks' place that was a known speed trap.. I always made a point of driving precisely at the speed limit---55mph...remember driving a few times w/ a state police cop behind me...he was just waiting for me to accelerate away in my red Mustang, but I stayed at a steady 55 until he got bored and passed me, or turned off to search for donuts.
  21. Ya, that is one seriously squished kitty. Rob
  22. So. Much. Rust. Somehow, I don't think in 40 years we will see yards like this full of Camrys, Accords, and other modern generica. They will all have been crushed instead. Rob
  23. The Cougars make me cry. Rust in peace. Rob
  24. I've been driving the '84 Merc 500SEL all week...probably has 180k on it now...not sure, because the odometer quit last year at 177,654 miles. Rob
  25. I wonder if it was a 4 lane and the jerk was driving slowly in the left lane.
