  1. The Journey is not bad...much nicer than the ugly Nitro..
  2. My favorite in the midsizers (though it's more of an SUV than a CUV) is the Grand Cherokee, it's the only one I would seriously consider...and Jeep has an authenticity that the others can't claim, and RWD.
  3. I wonder when the midsize CUV market is going to die down. The compact CUV market seems like it was booming in the last couple of years, though GMNA of course has nothing in that segment (the Vue is too big and heavy, more of a midsizer).
  4. Here's a few more pics: 1965 Lamborghini 3500 Zagato (never heard of this car, only one in existence, 1 of 2 built): Jag D-type: Auburn 812:
  5. Jack from the Jack in the Box chain. It was an interesting variety of cars... saw some that I didn't know existed, like a '65 Lamborghini Zagato and a mid '30s Auburn 812 Town Sedan.
  6. I went to see the cars lined up at the start of the Copperstate 1000 Road Rally today...neat variety of classics... here's some pics of some of the cars. These cars are going to be driving 1000 miles around AZ for the next 4 days. Gallery view: Copperstate 1000 pics Packard convertible: A '72 BMW 3.0CS for Sixty Eight to enjoy: Chrysler Airflow: '28 Bentley coupe: '61 Aston Martin Zagato: '70 Torino stock car (an unrestored real race car) Corvettes: Aston Martin race car lots of Ferraris also.
  7. The fender arches and front remind me of the Terrordyne concept from a few years ago. Is there going to be a Denali version?
  8. I hear you...beautiful spring day here, 75 and sunny. I went to the Copperstate 1000 classic car road rally kickoff this morning---saw a bunch of beautiful classic cars on a baseball diamond (where the Los Angeles Angels do their spring training), then drove in the desert to the east to Apache Junction..great weather to drive along w/ the windows down and watch the cars in the rally drive by me... drove around some looking at the spring flora and flauna in the desert. Been a good weekend...went to a Bruce Springsteen concert Friday night, was about 3hrs, great show, stayed up late.
  9. Went to the starting event for the Copperstate 1000 road rally today, held at a baseball park in Tempe. Was a lot of fun, saw a nice variety of vintage Ferraris, Aston Martins, Rolls Royces, a 1928 Bentley, a 4dr Auburn 812 (didn't know Auburn had other bodystyles than the boattail speedster in the mid '30s), a few Mercedes, as well as some '60s Corvettes, Shelbys, and a couple Pro-Touring style musclecars ('69 Camaro, '66 GTO). I'll post a link to photos I took later, as Fotki is down currently....grrr. Copperstate 1000
  10. Nah, this was something else...I thought you posted it...it was primered gray w/ aftermarket slotted mags, had a formal C-pillar very similar to a '67-68 Caprice, with a similar arc to the quarter panel...thought it might be a Laurel or Cedric, but I couldn't find any other pics that looked quite the same.. I'll search for the thread..
  11. Ya...they definitely had some interesting designs...one that sticks in my head was a car that 68 or someone posted last year that I'm not sure was identified, but it was a Datsun (I think) that had a roofline and rear quarter like a scaled down '68 Caprice coupe.
  12. Eagles were cool...ahead of their time...had the whole crossover thing (esp. Outback/Allroad style) down 30 years ago... For an older AMC, I wouldn't mind having a later Grand Wagoneer.
  13. Kinda cool..the first one reminds me of a '64-65 Falcon, vaguely..maybe it's the roof. I've got a Tomica 1:64th scale diecast of the 2nd one.
  14. Ah..interesting. Never heard it. I like 'reality context', of which my location is a part of..
  15. It's got to be difficult for GM to attract top talent...how are they going to get the best and the brightest to move there?
  16. 'localite'?? What is that?
  17. Yes..one aspect of GM's state of being I've long wondered if GM needs to get more of their design, development, product planning work out of Detroit..being in a dying, gray depressing place doesn't inspire...
  18. Ya, it's just a question of how much demand there really is, though...in sedans there is the Charger, 300, G8, Grand Marquis (and Ford is dropping it after this year, I believe)..
  19. Appealing to the lowest common denominator...sadly, the vast majority of the US mainstream car market has shown they prefer FWD generics--hence, Toyota's success here, as well as the other Asian brands.. it seems only the premium market supports RWD.
  20. Meh..just another FWD Chevywoo...are Australian consumers into that sh*t?
  21. This morning, a white '69 Camaro SS convertible in traffic, and a dark red '08 CTS w/ tinted windows and the personalized plate 'BARTSCTS'.
  22. Happy Birthday, dude. Have fun!
  23. Who is that on the far left in the bottom pic---C-PF?
  24. Hmmm...3 names....something from Aston Martin Lagonda a long time ago in a land far, far away? Jag-u-war had an SS back in the '30s. But;... I suspect you are talking about the Mercedes-Benz SSK from the late 20s-early 30s. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche. I have a Lindberg 1:25th scale model of one of these to build eventually. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_SSK
  25. There is just something really, really wrong in the world when some markets get a proper RWD V8 Chevy Caprice, and the US, the birthplace of the Caprice, gets stuck with an outdated FWD Impala..so wrong on so many levels..
