  1. Umm, who else but the board would have the authority to make such decisions? It certainly seems like something they would have power to do....
  2. I would assume this Ultra LWB EP II will also be used for the next Impala, assuming they eventually give up on the W-body.
  3. Odd looking car, seems to be a mix and match of styling cues from other cars... at least they abandoned the wierd Saab-retro grille from a couple years ago.
  4. Meh...too little, too late. The MKS is out now. That's the only car I could see something like this competing with. It's going to take 4 years to bring this to market? LAME.
  5. Some FCX Clarity design cues in the rear....in profile, looks sort of like a TL with a Prius greenhouse grafted on...wierd. But, as a Honda/Acura product, it will likely drive nicely, be well put together, high quality and reliable, and sell in respectable numbers.
  6. What is your beef against Australia? You are such an arse...
  7. Yes, there is a market for the Terrain. I would never buy a FWD based CUV, but for a lot of buyers, it may be perfectly fine. The GC is for a different market, a different buyer.
  8. The GC occupies an interesting niche in the market..it's always had real off-road SUV cred, definitely not in the same league as FWD CUV posers. But it's also got the entry-lux angle also, a step above mainstream family trucksters like the Explorer and the late GMT360s. It's kind of in a niche by itself, with the Jeep brand history and name and some of the luxury aspects of the premium luxury RWD/AWD SUVs (Land Rovers/Range Rovers, BMW X5, Merc ML) but at a lower price..
  9. With the 6, my '00 never gets more than 18-19mpg.. The FWD CUVs are really in a different market niche than the GC is in.
  10. Could be... it's too bad the wagon couldn't come to the US as a G8 sportwagon and the Caprice/Statesman as a Chevy Caprice or Lucerne replacement. Not going to happen, now, so much Zeta potential and possibilities that have been lost--just water under the bridge, as the GM bridges over troubled water collapse........as the GM bus heads off the freeway onto the exit ramp to nowhere.. (yeah, all getting metaphorical..)
  11. Hardly..the Terrain is just a FWD generic underneath, with blocky faux-macho styling. The GC has legit, serious hardware..it's a real SUV, not a lame-ass CUV.
  12. Problem is, the only thing Holden has of value are the Commodore and Caprice/Statesman lines...and Pontiac already has the G8. The rest of Holden's line are just Opel rebadges and generic Chevy/Daewoo FWD crap...
  13. I know, but sadly, Pontiac has had an high fleet % of total sales for years now.
  14. Interesting..well, Buick does currently does more sales volume in the China than the US, don't they?
  15. I would assume Avis would buy more Chevys and maybe some Buicks if they couldn't get Pontiacs.
  16. Yah, I could definitely see replacing my '00 GC with an '11 or '12. And I do take my Jeep offroad, so I would take advantage of it's capabilities.
  17. 'Macho king'? Hardly...the Terrain has faux-macho styling, but underneath, it is lowest-common denominator, FWD generic--hardly 'Professional Grade'. The weak sauce.
  18. More cheese than rice...all that plastic gorp up front, the chessy hood, etc.
  19. Meh..just took an ugly car and made it slightly more/less ugly?
  20. I like it a lot...much improved over the 3rd gen, IMHO...the grille and headlights are nicely evolved from the 2nd gen. (the headlights were my least favorite styling detail of the 3rd gen). The exterior is nice and clean, looking forward to seeing how it looks in a dark color, though. The taillights are a departure from previous vertical designs, but clean. I see a bit of ML in the C-pillar (family resembalance?). I really like the interior...looks much improved over the cheap 3rd gen interior, looks like a great place to spend time. Looking forward to seeing it in person.... This could make a nice replacement for my 2nd gen GC...could be an ideal commuter car for me when I'm back full time in the Denver area. QuadraLift and QuadraDriveII sound very interesting...
  21. Not sure on the year, but it didn't have the catwalk grilles I've seen on pics of '41 110s. I think I heard someone there refer to it as a Darrin (note the cut down doors). There wasn't a placard. Further research turned up a pic of a '42 180 Darrin that looks like it (horizontal grilles above the bumper on each side).
  22. So who was the last car maker to go through bankruptcy?
  23. Might want to look online for a diagram of how the dash goes together... I found an exploded diagram of how the passenger door panel on my Jeep went together, when I took it off to replace the side mirror.
  24. The problem I have with Raisin Bran is they get soggy too fast. I pretty much stick with Honey Nut Cheerios when I have breakfast cereal..
