  1. Yeah, and the Prius has buyer demographics any car maker would envy..besides celebs and assorted environmentalists, it has a lot of interest from people in my world--well educated, well paid computer professionals.. I know a lot of people that bought Priuses for the high tech angle. It will be interesting to see if the Insight and Volt gain traction with this market as well..
  2. They remind me a lot of the scoops on the last 2nd gen Firebird Formulas--
  3. I don't like it in white, and the rear bumper is very cheesy....looking forward to seeing it person, though.
  4. I don't see the connection to the Aztek..the scoops clearly reference the '71-72 GTO, '69 Trans Am, '70s Firebird Formulas, etc.
  5. Wierd that you are getting so much tire rot, Michigan is not exactly a dry, sunny place...I thought tire rot was more of a desert thing...
  6. Hardly...I know plenty of normal people that drive Priuses, so please keep your innaccurate perceptions to yourself.
  7. My brother had 2 S-10s as daily drivers before he switched to Rangers..I never understood the appeal..just depressing, cheap, gray plastic inside...I couldn't imagine driving something like that more than once.
  8. Software engineering, enterprise systems architecture..this was a couple years ago, so the market is likely thinner than it is now. I'm not that mercenary to head over there, but Dubai was in particular a hot spot for enterprise applications, esp. in banking and petroleum in recent years...
  9. I like the SOuth Park PC vs Mac..
  10. Interesting...first that I've seen Abu Dhabi in the headlines that I can remember...Dubai has been in the headlines often, but not the AD. A friend of mine was telling me I should look at going to Dubai or Abu Dhabi for a couple years, the contracting rates for my thing there are waaaay better than in the US, and there are tax advantages..and I'm used to living in a desert..
  11. I think I heard something about this a while back on either the No Agenda or Daily Source Code podcast... Adam Curry (former MTV VJ) is the creator of both podcasts, is a bit of a paranoid/tin foil hat guy, but there is always a grain of truth to his interesting rants..
  12. That's pretty funny...I had a Toshiba just like that...had Windows Vista Home edition. Was a total turd. Died of hard drive failure after only 6 months.
  13. Ya...Grabber Blue Mustang, white Challenger, bright red Camaro.
  14. I'll split my loyalties between the Rockies and D-Backs this year..
  15. I really like all 3 cars... love the retro styling cues of all 3, the interior of the Mustang, the engine of the Camaro... would love to have 1 of each, though I'd take the Mustang in a convertible and the Challenger in SRT8 form. They are so brashly RWD old school American, each in their own way, in an era of generic FWD transportation modules. I love 'em.
  16. I'd love to be able to split a 60 inch screen into 4 or 6 panels, so I can watch CNN/BBC News/MSNBC/a movie/a couple tv shows/etc at once..though the sound would overlap and be hard to follow..
  17. Well, I started out w/ Fords, was raised in a Ford family, so I'll probably buy Fords again...and GMs, and (hopefully) Chryslers. I refuse to follow the crowd, succomb to peer pressure, etc and take the easy way out and buy a Toyota and live a happy, shiny life.
  18. I like the styling of old BMWs, certainly wouldn't call them 'unrefined'....just different than the '50s-60s American cars that Balthy knows. They were created in a different reality context...Germany in the '60s-70s was very different than Detroit. The best aspect of vintage BMWs, though, wasn't styling...it was the handling....a concept that it took American car makers a long time to take seriously.
  19. Wow... I can relate...my Mom has a similar problem with her two Australian Cattle Dogs, they don't play nice. In my reality, with 4 terriers at home (total weight-65lbs), everything was copacetic...could go off to work, leave the dog door open, they would hang out in the house or the back yard all day. After we got the Yorkie puppy last fall, though, Nauti (the 10 yr old, 13lb Australian Terrier) who was used to being the diva (she's a retired show dog) and center of attention, started stalking the puppy, even bit her on the leg once. Now I have to keep them separated when I'm not home, so the 3lb puppy (Ginger, aka Baby Beast) is locked in my bedroom w/ water and food in the bathroom during the day, and Nauti (aka Bitey Beast) is in the rest of the house w/ the Silky and 2 Westies that she gets along ok with. And in the evening, it's always a matter of watching to make sure Bitey isn't stalking Baby..
  20. True enough.. Yeah, like people that obsess over celebs like Britney, Paris Hilton, etc and have to read/watch everything about them all the time....and reality shows do utterly suck. I remember a time, long ago, when MTV actually played music videos. I mostly love having the big HD TV for watching movie and concert DVDs... don't really need to watch CNN or network TV in HD.
  21. And triple tone paint schemes w/ wide whites...
  22. Probably...or Cadillac mooted it--as the CTS is available w/ the 3.6 and AWD...
  23. More convertibles w/ tops down this beautiful, warm, windy afternoon, incl. two '80s Eldorado Biarittz--a goregous white one w/ red interior, and a dark red one w/ a tan interior. Also, a beige-green early '70s Jag E-Type convertible, and a red w/ white stripes '07-09 Shelby GT500 convertible..
  24. I recall a bit of buzz about it a couple of years ago...was supposed to replace G... now it looks like G and W will be replaced by LWB Epsy Dos.
  25. I saw a mocha Enclave w/ a tan fake top a couple weeks ago..wish I had had a camera handy...
