  1. That is a good question...and how about all the people out there that have never owned a domestic, and their only experience with them is rental cars at the airport? I know many 20- and 30-somethings that never owned a domestic...they are happy with their Nissans, Hondas, Acuras, BMWs, Toyotas, Audis, VWs, etc...why would they switch? It's an uphill battle for the Detroit 3, certainly...
  2. Yeah, they are wierd...I think M-B or Audi started that a few years ago... I don't get the point of them (less reflection on the gauges?).
  3. I recall seeing a DTS in this color in June, 2005 when I was on vacation in Telluride, Co...
  4. At the Post Office this morning, I saw a silver Merc CLK 63 AMG Black Series....drooool.
  5. Speaking of '73-77 Collonades, I was at a Dave & Busters for a company bowling event yesterday afternoon and when I came out, in the parking lot a distance from me I saw a white vinyl top on a '73-77 Collonade something (I couldn't see the rest of the car)...it was just strange to see a mid '70s design amidst all the modern cars in the lot (a mix of Toyotas, Lexuses, SUVs, etc.)
  6. I think Denali is followed by Ultra (counting the number of blue boxes).
  7. Well, I'm an 'Ultra Member'. Not sure what that means. Is there a list somewhere of where (# of posts) each level begins/ends?
  8. Cool...very clean for it's age...my Dad drove a shortbed fleetside '81 with the 6cyl (green w/ white bumpers) when he was working for Habitat for Humanity after he retired.
  9. What's wrong with the tires? Goodyear Eagle F1s.
  10. Sweet...I was leaning towards a Mustang convertible, but I may have to hold out for one of these (if it will be out prior to June 28, 2010). One of these w/ a V8 and manual would be a great winter car for me to cruise around the 'Dale in... I love the profile view w/ the top up...looks chunky, solid, w/ the long hood and great RWD proportions....none of that FWD nonsense where the door is almost into the wheelwell..
  11. Yes, it's hard not think Daewoo=$h!e, lower than even Hyundai or Kia. Hopefully, they have been raising their game under GM ownership.
  12. By the time this comes out, I wonder how competitive it will be with the segment leaders, i.e. NG Civic, NG Focus, Rabbit/Jetta, etc...
  13. So Saturn will probably have it's Astra version. I wonder if their will be a Pontiac G5 and it will be badge engineered from the Chevy or more differentiated than the current model.
  14. I got the impression this is the next Astra also? (Or on a shared platform with it?)
  15. As the article says, "It’s being developed by GM’s South Korean unit, with considerable input from North America and Europe." So it's reasonable to assume over the next few years there will probably be Daewoo, Chevrolet, (and Pontiac ?) badged versions of this model. And the next Astra on this platform will be in Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Saturn flavors, I presume. And maybe a SAAB 9-1. And probably a Buick Excelle for China. And add a big chrome grille for a HUMMER H4 version (J/K).
  16. If I had the time and space, I'd love to tackle my late father's rusty, bondoed '67 Cougar that's been parked in my family's Ohio barn..hasn't been driven or started for about 25 years. Sitting under a car cover w/ 4 flat tires.
  17. If gas goes up really high (say $7 - $10 a gallon), I'll get something more efficient (something like a Mini? Diesel Jetta? I'd like to see a diesel A3...) . Keep the oldies for the occasional summer drive, keep the Jeep for winter, and have a late model performance car for the occasional weekend drive. For now, my Jeep gets averages about 20 mpg...
  18. So this new car is what was referred to a week or two ago as the new GM high mileage compact? I wonder if they will keep the Cobalt name.
  19. Saw an exceptionally clean and shiny silver blue '82 LeSabre 4dr tonight..haven't seen one like that in ages.
  20. Good that the digital gauges are going..they looked like the kind of silliness GM had in the '90s...
  21. The next gen Titan is going to be a badge-engineered Dodge Ram, according to recent reports.
  22. I happened to look up and watch the traffic out my office window just as a sharp white '75/76 Coupe de Ville breezed by on the 101, between a Prius and a 2nd gen Scion XB...
  23. I see the '90s ones, but pretty much anything from the '80s is a pretty rare sight. At least in my area, it was rare to see cars older than 10-15 years with any frequency.
  24. Yes, and incidentially, I think the Jetta will be the only C-segment wagon (estate) sold in the US this year... (not counting the strange tall wagons like the HHR, Vibe,Matrix, or Rondo)
  25. Yes, in 1980, IIRC as the Rover 3500...had four round headlights for the NA market. I haven't seen one since about 1981.
