Drew Dowdell - March 21, 2012 - CheersandGears.com Chevrolet confirmed today that both the Traverse and Impala would be making their debuts in two weeks at the 2012 New York International Auto Show by releasing a couple of teaser shots. The Traverse's brother, the 2012 GMC Acadia and Acadia Denali tipped their hat in February at the Chicago autoshow. In the Traverse tease shot, we see a CGI rendering of the passenger side dash and door. The Traverse will be gaining an industry first center airbag to protect the driver or passenger from far side impacts. On the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, we only a glimpse of the C-pillar and the old familiar Impala logo.The new Impala will ride on the long wheel base version of GM's Epsilon II platform that underpins the coming 2013 Cadillac XTS. Not even that. They should keep the names consistent in a given segment. At least they got Regal right when they brought it back by putting it on a mid-size car as it has always been. Impala is at least going to remain the top of the Chevy sedan heap regardless of which wheels are driving it. Changing the name to Caprice at this point would be a mistake even though the current Impala is at the bottom of the pile in perception in its segment. The platform can change over and over, look at how many platforms the Accord has been on, but the naming needs to be consistent.

I wonder if Alpha is flexible enough to build something Fusion or Charger sized, though....the only Chevy Alpha concept shown so far is the tiny Code 130R... Yep it is. Alpha is the platform for the next CTS

I think this is one instance where they would have been better off re-naming the car The Toyota Venza is just about as ugly as the Crosstour, but seems to sell so much better.

You guys really think it will be on Zeta and not Alpha? Zeta is not long for this world, it would be a short run car.
