  1. Wonderful. But it still remains that what's widely in use is this inferior, delicate form of the technology. Also, I wouldn't quite believe everything coming out of China. As someone who was involved in some high speed rail research for use in California, it turns out that a lot of what they put out in press releases is...let's just say wildly optimistic at best. If the technology exists and is ready to address all of these issues/shortcomings, then why isn't it being implemented? Why no retrofits? You can't put a price on the safety and wellbeing of hundreds of thousands of people, nor can you on environmental devastation. The technology I refer to is a German development that the Chinese have adopted. It's not a new concept, the basic idea has been around for most of the atomic power age. We just decided to go the difficult route for some reason.
  2. It's strange that some of the oldies like the Lucerne, DTS, and Impala have it available while the CTS, Regal, Cruze, and Camaro do not.
  3. You weren't just em-bare-assed by what they saw?
  4. Wait, the first gen CTS-V didn't have a handbrake? Never knew that None of the first gen CTSes had a hand brake.
  5. It's effectively replacing both the STS and the DTS in the lineup. Outselling those two shouldn't be terribly hard. Edit: I don't see it doing much service as a custom body vehicle. It may replace some Town Car Sedans, but that's about it.
  6. Welcome. I see you've already been stirring the pot.
  7. that's only because of a STUPID 70s era policy that prevents reprocessing the spent fuel into new fuel..... like the Chinese do. There are also new style reactors that have a heat imposed self limiting system. The hotter the reactor gets, the further apart the fuel is spread. It's a natural force of physics that requires zero human intervention and zero water to remain cool (relative to a melting reactor)
  8. and I appreciate that. There is a fear surrounding nuclear power that gets whipped up when an accident happens. This isn't even an accident, but a natural disaster.
  9. knock it off in here guys, back to the Malibu spy photos.
  10. he's met some of us in person.
  11. far more people have died from the Tsunami than will ever die from the radiation from the meltdown. far more people will die from not wearing sunscreen than will ever die from the radiation from the meltdown.
  12. I've cut nesting quotes down to 5 max.

  14. .... and carries the nuke codes.
  15. The only position of leadership I care about is sales. Who cares who has the most HP and the most of anything if the car doesn't sell. But look at how the MKS, DTS, S80, Acura RL sell. Those are the $40k + front drive sedans, all sales dogs. Lucerne near dead, Park Ave, Aurora, and Bonneville are dead, front drive Chrysler LH platform is dead. Big front drivers, especially luxury ones are fading. There are too many good rear drivers that can mop the floor with FWD cars in handling and ride at the XTS's price point. MKS - not distinctive enough DTS - older hardware older design S80 - and in the end... it's still a Volvo RL - What? you mean a Super De Lux AWD Accord TL Brougham with the plow prep package doesn't sell well? Ride has nothing to do with the layout of the drive train. Want some other sales dogs? Infiniti M Infiniti Q - (canceled) Lexus GS (outsold by the STS... THE FREAKING STS.. some months) Cadillac STS - (canceled) Lincoln Town Car - (canceled) Lincoln LS - (canceled) I guess large RWD cars are fading.....
  16. Have you ever been in an S-class cab?
  17. And a dressed up Taxi-cab does?
  18. sheeple don't buy luxury flagships. They buy pruises.
  19. If you want Cadillac's largest vehicle to be the flagship.... I got your flagship right here. Respected by NBA stars and mobsters alike.....
  20. Alfa is only hurting right now because they haven't introduced their designs here yet. They could sell a bunch of them here very well... they are sexy enough
  21. There is no more STS in about 5 minutes. You think people who are interested in a loaded up CTS are going to pass on it and go for the XTS instead?
  22. I just disagree that every car EVAR has to be rear wheel drive and that in order to be considered "premium" the car must be RWD based (how Audi gets away with it, I don't know) We've already been able to extrapolate from the Lacrosse that the weight balance of an AWD XTS would actually be superior to that of an A8. We don't know it's width yet and we know it's NOT going to be the flagship. Cadillac's flagship is the Escalade Hybrid... and that was the first time in a long time that it's largest vehicle is it's flagship. Prior to the Escalade H joining the lineup, the flagships have been the XLR(-V) STS(-V), or going back far enough, the Seville and Allante... both of which were dwarfed by the Deville and Fleetwood. The G-body Deville has been around since what... 93? It's NEVER been the flagship. The XTS is no more a Lacrosse rebadge than a DTS is a Bonneville rebadge. No car anywhere will satisfy everyone, but if you have gripes, at least make them legitimate.
  23. Yup, we're talking about a 8.9-9.0 earthquake and ~275 (and constantly rising) "aftershocks" of 5.0 or higher (IMO "aftershock" doesn't feel like the right descriptor, as it brings to mind little tremors, when it seems that 5.0 would be considered a legitimate earthquake on its own). And it's not even the earthquake that seems to have been the problem, it was the tsunami messing up the backup power generation to pump coolant. Sadly, the situation has gotten much worse than most experts thought it could, and is looking like it could potentially actually be harmful to the environment around the plant. Very sad, and it will set the nuclear power industry back, probably decades, because of the bad PR. One of the aftershocks was 6.9. That's not an aftershock... that's another earthquake! OK, is there anything I can do to protect myself to minimize exposure? That's what I want to know more than anything. Take iodine tablets and hide in a fallout shelter.
  24. What is disappointing about it. I really like it and would potentially buy one if one of my other businesses takes off.
