  1. The outgoing LTZ has LED tail lamps that use pinpoints similar to the 2013 version
  2. Wholesale gas prices spiked today. Most of the country will be over $4.25 a gallon in 3 to 4 weeks.... likely all of the country by July 4th. All that needs to happen is to have the news stories continue about these gas prices.... "and next up, Chevy releases a new mid-size car that they claim can beat the Toyota and Ford hybrid fuel economy"
  3. Perhaps the 2.5 engine won't be quite ready yet but the eAssist engine will be.
  4. Of note: No LED tail lights on the Eco model.
  5. Back to the Malibu. I think any fears you guys have of the Malibu tails will fade away once you see the car in person. They did a superb job on this car.
  6. lighter connecting rods might actually help with NHV and/or the willingness to rev.
  7. We're taking the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor train from the Hamilton (Sloan Ave.) station to Penn Station-New York, and walking (or taxi) to the Jacob Javitz Center. You could probably take the river line from Burlington (which is near you I recall) to the Trenton Transit center and take the Corridor train from there. You'd get your choice of seats being the first station.
  8. How are you getting there?
  9. I wonder what inside the engine is actually lighter....
  10. Because they are tuned for torque and as a result are able to get good fuel economy while providing a fun drive.
  11. Who here was born after 1988?

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco is shown here in crystal red metallic across ten press photos covering every angle inside and out. Exterior shots range from studio portraits and dynamic driving scenes to a close-up of the distinctive LED taillight cluster, while the interior images reveal the two-tone brown and black leather cabin, turquoise-accented instrument gauges, wood-grain trim, and the MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. The Eco trim brought a mild hybrid eAssist system to the redesigned Malibu lineup, pairing fuel efficiency with the sedan's sharp new styling. Read the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco Review
  14. The lightest one weighs as much as a Sonata, the heaviest one is V6 Malibu territory.
  15. Well, if Cadillac wanted to match BMW in the crossover market, they should have dropped the 3.0 and kept the 2.8t. Sales for them would be right in line with the X3 then.
  16. It's the clock-clock-clock from the Direct Injection system. At higher speed it becomes a Gggggrrrrrr. I am not sure if it's the injectors themselves or the high pressure fuel rails and accumulators vibrating from the closure pulses from the injectors. Eitherway it is decidedly coarse... the 3.6 DI V6 I drove in a rented Camaro was noiser, coarser and less refined than the 2.4 liter 4-potter in the Malibu -- significantly so. yet in the Enclave, Acadia, and CTS, it's smooth... so clearly GM knows how to quell the sound.
  17. For parity with the Camry and Accord, the Malibu needs to lose 250~300 lbs. Help me out understanding this one: Camry 4c/6a - 3307 Accord 4c/6a - 3395 Malibu 4c/6a - 3415
  18. SRX is sized like an X5 or ML only in exterior. In interior space, it is clearly up against the X3 and GLK. Your trouble is you realize when you are rhetorically trapped and you then change the target of "what Cadillac must do to win the market" First it was sales.. they have to outsell Mercedes in each market they compete in. When Cadillac actually does that, you change the target.. now by outselling Mercedes and BMW and Audi combined... they are suddenly "lowest common denominator". On top of that, Cadillac also has to be superior in the eye of mythical "people"... those people who are soooo in the know, but for some reason never actually purchase the damned cars. The X3 sold 6,000 units in the U.S. last year at roughly similar transaction prices to the SRX. I think Cadillac would happily piss off those "people" you speak of if that's the measure of success you want them to stand up to. Really... what is the excuse of the X3. How is 6,000 units in sales ANYTHING for Cadillac to look up to?
