  1. not possible as is, at least if it stays the "halo" vehicle the point remains - 20 and 30 year olds cannot afford Corvettes. 30 years old is right in the middle of the child raising years for men. $60,000 buys a lot of diapers and 529 deposits.
  2. What's political about saying you'll see fewer Nazis watching re-runs of the Nuremburg trials than if you watch Glenn Beck? It's not a comment on his politics. The man uses more footage of the Nazis and Nazi propaganda than the History Channel.
  3. Rear wheel drive is no good in slippery situations.
  4. Lower the price.
  5. Is it running poorly? It came with platinum plugs, they're good for 100k miles regardless. If you do get new plugs, get the new Iridium plugs. If you do get brakes done, spend the extra on ceramic pads, they last a lot longer than normal pads sometimes twice as long. You can probably to a coolant flush and fill in your driveway, don't pay someone else to do it. look for coupons for coolant in the Sunday paper.
  6. and fewer nazis
  7. The Corolla isn't evolutionary, it's frozen in time. The Altima has only really had two generations (with the Stanza preceding it) the first Altima was a large departure from the Stanza and the second generation Altima was a large departure from the first. The current Altima is just a restyle of the second generation. The Sentra has been all over the place. You are right that most American cars aren't particularly evolutionary either
  8. These are the grills that anyone who is still able to drive will remember:
  9. I think it's most likely that the Malibu weight = Regal weight - quiet tuning
  10. I don't see why they need a team to do this... just a strong budget and an excellent designer who understands heritage cues.
  11. I think you make up for it with the parasitic loss of the alternator working triple time.
  12. Then you'll be happy to know that 512gb SSD is down to just $1,284 Even if you bought two, you'd be over 1 TB for about the same price as 3 Dodge Shadows.
  13. I'm interested in an SSD for battery life, but I'm not willing to give up capacity.... so I wait. My machine is already decently fast for an ultralight laptop, but it's clear that the harddrive is the pinch point.
  14. While this is nice, they need to make sure it can be produced cheaply or it will take a while to take hold in the market. The biggest hang up today is not in RAM speed but in disk access. SSDs are still too expensive.
  15. When dealing with a now obscure car, I find that Rock Auto has what I need more often, with a lot of New-Old-Stock parts available.... like the NOS A/C Delco shocks I nabbed on there for $8.00 each. For a more modern car like the CR-V, Amazon might be a more cost effective route, but right now Rock Auto is my default choice. Not all Amazon.com parts qualify for Prime.
  16. It is slow(er) to rev than normal? Difficulty passing? Put your hand over the exhaust, does the exhaust feel weak?
  17. Well it could be as old as 1974 then.... since Mercedes invented both Airbags and ABS and subsequently allowed Oldsmobile and Chrysler to debut each of them respectively.
  18. G.B.?
  19. Shipping prices are ok if everything comes from the same warehouse. If your order pulls from multiple warehouses, the shipping charges can add up quickly. The order page will let you know which warehouse each part is coming from. Anything in stock leaves the warehouse the next business day.
  20. New Alternator installed, the bearings were going bad in the existing one and the belt would squeal for about 5 minutes at start up and any time there was a heavy load on the electrical system. It took less time to install the alternator on the Toronado than it took just to get to the fan belt on the CR-V. For all the Honda engineering prowess, they can't manage to engineer themselves a belt routing sticker to put in the engine bay. Also installed a new vacuum choke pull off that I picked up on clearance. I want to give a shout out to RockAuto.com, where I've been buying most of my parts. I ordered a replacement headlamp switch, but when it arrived, the hard plastic housing had been smashed. Rock Auto had a replacement out to me in two days no questions asked.
  21. I hated it when it first came out, but it's already taken it's position as "meh, another GAS" in my mind. I till like the Optima a lot. I saw a black loaded up one in the store parking lot today drive by... it's easily the best of the asian family sedans in styling right now.
  22. Continuing with this list but there might be another car entering the household....
  23. The Camaro Convertible V6 I just had weighs more than a 2004 Cadillac Deville. The Camaro Coupe V6 weighs the same as a 2005 Buick Park Ave.
