  1. under your rock...
  2. Is the horsepower war over, or is it just spreading into V6 land? just a few years ago every manufacturer was in the 180-240hp range with their V6es and had been there for a while. During that time the LS engines came out, the Ford OHC V8s came out, Infinity, Lexus and Dodge <with trucks> started throwing their hats in the ring with high powered V8s all the while the V6es lagged behind. Now V8s are easily pushing 350,400, 500hp out. The V8s have peaked. The V6es are playing catch up. A 300hp V6 is not any more fuel efficient than a 300hp V8. Infinity G35 coupe 6-speed manual = 19/26 City/Highway Impala SS 4-speed automatic = 18/28 city/highway GTO 400hp6-speed manual = 17/25 Heck even the lard bucket 300c manages 17/25 with 345hp, room for 5, and a huge trunk.

  4. The U.S. Accord is also a Hyundai something in other markets.
  5. and thereby hand the entire police/cab/livery market over to Chrysler. What... you didn't think they'd all jump over to the W-bodies did you?
  6. 3rd gen E-body <preferably late in the model run> Toronado with the diesel
  7. How can you call yourself "Carguy" and ask a question like this?
  8. Then I'm an odd 27 year old because I've considered the newest DTS as a CTS replacement <STS is too close to the CTS to matter to me> because the roads here in Western PA are so bad driving the CTS, or any harder riding car, gets tiring. The previous DTS, while I liked it from the exterior, I did not like the interior. The new one has grown on me in higher levels of trim.
  9. The DTS face lift *had* to cost less then an entirely redesigned platform. GM just didn't have the money to do an entirely new car yet. While 1/3rd of DTSes are sold to fleets, what about the other 2/3rds of the sales. Isn't the DTS one of the best selling <even after accounting for fleet sales> full sized luxury cars out there? While fleets aren't as profitable as retail sales, they do contribute to the economies of scale of a model line. BMW and Benz fleet their cars too, they just don't do it in the U.S. In france I saw a number of Benz C-classes and 3-series diesels as taxi cabs.
  10. oh yeah, forgot one Escape Hybrid E85.... is coming.

  12. I've refused to buy Exxon or Mobile gasoline for years.
  13. It needs to be harsh. Bold, in your face, agressive, assertive is what Buick should have. Names like: Wildcat Centurion Invicta "unconquerable" Roadmaster Wouldn't that be a great lineup of sedans starting with a Sigma based Wildcat and Centurion at the bottom, and Zeta based Invicta and Roadmaster at the top. "Suddenly it's 1957!" with Buick having 4 cars based on two platforms. Use the Super name for the higher trim on a specific model but use it in front of the model name "I just bought an Invicta.", "Oh yeah? I just bought a Super Invicta" Of course, the Electra trim name for all hybrid models
  14. Hey, at least it's getting a real name and not "B8"
  15. I agree.... but Cadillac doesn't have an S-Class/7-series/A8 fighter ready to go anytime soon. Should Cadillac just give up those not insignificant sales of the DTS? Sure it's a Lucerne De Lux.... but they still do get to charge the premium for it.
  16. I'm going to guess that an LS6 is substantially less complex than an HF3.6 VVT.
  17. That was a 747 that flew over your head....
  18. uh.... Lincoln LS?
  19. 12 is always something to brag about. 8 is usually something to brag about. Who ever brags about a 6 or a 4? :AH-HA_wink:
  20. I did... and I can't get the price that high even with the engine block heater checked. The only way I could get that number was to go with the 18" wheel option package.
  21. The same person that would rice out a Hoover.
  22. Uh... 1996 Olds LSS 1996 Pontiac Gran Prix 1996 Buick Regal GS were all within 10HP of that. The HP increase may level off, but I don't think we'll see another decline in HP like we did in the late 70's early 80's.
  23. Tantastic is a chain here in Pittsburgh
  24. I think you're correct, but that doesn't mean I like it. The down side is even a 300hp V6 doesn't have the low down torque a 300hp V8 has.
