  1. Well, if you don't go off-road ever, then 2wd is fine for AZ. It's not like you get a lot of snow.
  2. As I posted on @Chris_Doane's wall: Someone from Hyundai took a tour of a Citroen design center and then tried to recreate what they saw by explaining to a designer who didn't speak the same language.
  3. They sold like 12 ZDXs Back to the Accord.. Even if they don't detun the Civic Type-R engine, which I expect they will, the new 2.0T would be rated no more than 305hp and 295 lb-ft @ 2500 rpm. Impressive enough sounding figures. However, The only way you get that 295 lb-ft at 2500 rpm is if you're at full boost by using full throttle. It's just not going to be as responsive as the V6 even though the V6 has lower peak power. But don't take my word for it.. .just look at what Honda says on their own website. The current 3.5 liter V6 runs as a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder when on a highway cruise and can get some fantastic fuel economy, where the 2.0T will always be no less than a 2.0 liter at highway cruise. I'm just not sure where I see the fuel savings here. Maybe some of it will come from the 10-speed if it has a taller top ratio than the CVT, but I doubt it. I'm sure it will cruise well enough, but dig into the boost too much and you'll see fuel economy numbers below that of the V6.

  5. I have a search set up on Autotrader to send me Avalanche listings. One of the most common eyeroll descriptions I see for Avalanches is "Fuel Sipper" or "best fuel economy" or some variant. While the Avlanche might be decent as far as trucks of that vintage go.... it's not like it's a Volt in the MPG department.... it's not even a Chevy SS in the MPG department.... and putting that in the ad isn't fooling anyone. What doozies do you see in car ads that are wildly inappropriate to the vehicle they are selling?
  6. Toyota does do fleet and Nissan fleets heavily.
  7. I hadn't realized Malibu had grown that much. Sonata and Optima combined sales have been equal to Altima for a couple years now... the Koreans can't seem to shake that position.
  8. Honda proudly does not fleet out their cars. The brag about it at nearly every press conference of theirs I've been to.
  9. I haven't yet... it just came on again today so it made me think of it. We don't drive the car much, so I can go a month or more without filling it up.
  10. I'm getting a check engine light on my '04 CR-V. It only happens below half a tank of gas. If I open and close the gas cap, a few trips later the light will reset. When I do this, it seems like there is a lot of vacuum in the tank as I can hear the air rush in. About 6 months ago I had the fuel lines replace and fuel pump replaced. Any ideas?
  11. Thanks for that history! You should sign up and hang out here more.
  12. They seem to be doing okay with the recipe for Jeep... But otherwise I agree.
  13. Remember guys.... China. Two facts to consider. 1. Jeep is huge in China and growing fast. 2. FCA has no China sized truck to sell there.
  14. I didn't spot this in person, but I did spot the ad. A very rare 1957 Packard Clipper Wagon with a factory supercharger https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/6117228325.html
  15. Needed to get out of the house a bit yesterday.. This was parked behind me after getting back from getting icecream.
  16. It's coming. Test mules have been spotted.
  17. The target market is going to be Lexus RX drivers. I think that demographic skews heavily to those with XX chromosomes. The XT5 should do fine there. I too would prefer an Escalade, but like so many others, my checkbook doesn't.
  18. its just a concept. I'm sure the production version will be more conventional. Conventional sells (Trax, Encore, CX-3, Renegade), Unconventional doesn't (Cube, Juke)
  19. I think he was suggesting that people are just looking to complain without evidence of wrongdoing.
  20. I don't hate to admit it. Ford did and still does build a great truck. My Dad's and Mom's F-150s are 1994 with 400k+ and 2007 with 200k+. Dad's is an XLT standard cab inline 6 with a 5-speed manual and 4x4. Mom's is a King Ranch Crew Cab V8 RWD. My only issue with Ford is the not living up to the hype about Ecoboost as a V8 replacement and it's fuel economy numbers. My issue is with the marketing department, not the engineering department. My job as a project manager is to set expectations and meet them. In terms of the hype, Ford did not meet the expectations it set for itself. I remain unconvinced about the benefits of Ecoboost, but I would totally rock a denim blue F-150 King Ranch 4x4 with the 5.0 and the 10-speed. Back to the CT6 and a word on turbo engines.... while @smk4565 was joking, he is right that there is an attitude among Toyota owners and them rarely doing oil changes. I think that kinda bit them with the oil sludging issues. What I've been noticing, first with my Encore and then with other Turbo engines is that they are much more sensitive to old oil. I can hear when my Encore needs an oil change at around 20% oil life on the oil life monitor. I can hear it in Ecoboost V6es also (Source: Expedition EL). I wonder if some people, particularly former Toyota owners are up for a rude awakening if they try to run 15k mile oil changes in these luxury cars.
  21. The 2.0t CT6 was always intended to be a Southern States Blue-Hair car for people who 1. Don't need AWD. 2. Aren't in a super rush to get to Bingo. 3. Want a bigger car than the CTS or XTS, but aren't willing to pay that much more to get it.... these are people who miss their old Town Cars, and 260hp is what they're used to. You're in a relatively affluent and youngish region of the Northern US that sometimes sees snow.... I don't blame the dealership for the policy they have on the 2.0T.
  22. I don't wear gloves in June either asshat... Well sometimes I do, but not for driving.
  23. Both of my parents' F-150s are contributing to the numbers in that list though.
