They are a fantastic drive. A recent Uber driver picked me up in one. Made it from my house to the airport entirely in EV mode... 27 miles.

Plan B is the now much more fuel efficient and excellent quality mid-size and smaller cars that are now available. Even a V6 Chrysler 300 can get over 30mpg on the highway consistently these days. It's the Cruze Diesel, the Sonic, the Focus 3-cylinder EB, the Volt, the Verano, the Chrysler 200. It's the Colorado and Canyon diesels, the Ram and Jeep GC Diesels. It's the F-150 2.7 EB..... the list goes on.

If she drives that little amount, she could get a Leaf and not need to buy gasoline anymore.

Another one? They are offering favorable leases for them on my end of the state.

Scion News: Rumorpile: What To Expect In Scion's Lineup
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
sure there is. The FR-S is a different kind of car than the tCelica would be. Keep in mind, there are still large swaths of the country that want something sporty but still want FWD for winter. My tC driving friend is like that... he really wants a BRZ, but the RWD makes him hesitate. -
Buick News: Buick Envision Teased, Premieres In China Later This Year
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
It is unlikely that they will overlap in price. The Encore base price is $25k, the Terrain base price is $26.4k. I would expect the Envision to start at or near $30k. -
Consumer reports Recommends Ram over Ford or Toyota trucks
Drew Dowdell replied to G. David Felt's topic in The Lounge
CR got smacked for their biases a few years back, rating the Prizm and Corolla differently, assuming good reliability on new Japanese models and then having to issue retractions. Rating Hummers as poor due to poor fuel economy. Missing major issues with certain favorite imports because they were under-reported by owners.... They changed their methods a bit since then.- 12 replies

Scion News: Rumorpile: What To Expect In Scion's Lineup
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
They could simply rebadge the current tC as a Celica, drop the Scion brand, and be ahead financially by not spending the money on marketing a separate brand. -

You are right. I forgot the tC in that list -
Every car is going to have bugs. The Karma was a fantastic design outside, but felt kit-kar like inside. I suppose they are focusing on the Karma because most of the work to get it on the road is done, however, I think they need to get the Atlantic out ASAP as that is a vehicle more people will be able to afford.

The U.S. is ostensibly the wealthiest country in the world... why do products need to be decontented to be sold here?

There's the Yaris, then there's this coming Mazda 2 re-badge. The Spark is more of an iQ competitor, so really, Toyota is just abandoning the segment. Spark - iQ Sonic - Yaris - Mazda2 Rebadge - Pruis C Cruze -Verano - Corolla - Aurius Hatchback - Pruis - Pruis V -
GM News: Rumorpile: GM Puts Next-Generation Pickups On Rush
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Erm... not really. Back in 1988 the Camry had a 2.0 and a 2.5... today it has a 2.5 and a V6. The 1991 Cutlass Calais had 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5 liters. The 2.3 had 180 horsepower... which means it is slightly higher horsepower per liter than the current GM 2.5. (yes it gagged me to type about horsepower per liter) Yes, they are more powerful... but that's to be expected. The 5.7 liter V8s are more powerful than the 5.7s from 20 years ago also. The 5.0 in my Toronado weezes out 140hp on a good day... the 5.3 Ecotec produces 355hp on gas and 380 hp on E85. There are plenty more examples where these came from.- 20 replies

That 2014 Ram Tradesman is a good deal, but that's a new vehicle even. Not that I'm against it... it just seems odd that they are asking around the same money as some places are asking for used trucks with lots of miles on them.

GM News: Rumorpile: GM Puts Next-Generation Pickups On Rush
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Ford is the only innovator? That's a laugh. The current truck dates back a long time and all Ford did was swap out front clips. Until the announcement of the aluminum 150 their "big innovation" was a turbo v6.... big deal.. Chevy had a truck with a midgate. Ram has 8 speed transmissions and height adjustable suspension.- 20 replies

..erm... that's it? The Auris (a variant of which has already been sold in the States over at Lexus) and a rebadged Mazda 2 sedan.... while they send their one vehicle that they are especially known for to the great toaster graveyard in the sky..... sounds like a winning combination. -
Consumer reports Recommends Ram over Ford or Toyota trucks
Drew Dowdell replied to G. David Felt's topic in The Lounge
I think they're probably right. On the Impala it is probably the best value for your dollar even though it costs more than an Altima or Optima. It is much more solid and drives great. They don't feel "disposable" like the others I mentioned. The Ram rides better than the current F-150 and has a great selection of engines. UConnect is better than MyFordTouchedMeInMyNoNoPlace. The Ram's 8-Speed auto is fantastic.- 12 replies

I'm back to looking at trucks for myself and the used vehicle pricing is insane. 2011 F-150 Ecoboost Supercab, leather, no nav, no-sunroof, 4x4... 63k miles ... $35,000 2013 Tacoma Double Cab, 2wd, V6, cloth seats, no sun-roof, rollin on 16s... 35k miles, $32,599 2010 Canyon Crew Cab, 64k miles, cloth seats, no sun-roof, $23,077 And these are their "no haggle" prices.... I'll have whatever they're smoking....
