Don't know if Gamma would be that flexible. Also, Opel would have to have money to develop all of those variants on the platform. I suspect keeping Opel's current business plan will absorb all the money that Magna and the Russians will pump into it...

With which products, though? If Opel will feed Buick, those plans won't be just thrown out the window because Magna bought 55% of Opel... Wonder what stakes, if any, GAZ's and Sberbank will have as they are part of the Magna-led bidding consortium... also if the German Goverment aid package won't be converted to equity sometime in the future...

It is. Koenigsegg, Renco Group and someone else are rumoured to be the final 3 bidders. However, SAAB people have said that those 'final 3' all have connections to the auto industry, so... idk... what does Renco have in the auto business other than being the owner of AM General? And who is the mystery 'candidate nr 3'?

Sadly, GM spent alot of money buying SAAB and apparently in thiking of ways to charge corporate overheads so money would be moved to NA (apparently they've done the same to Opel), but GM never really invested in what SAAB needed: proper product and freedom from the sedan/wagon model. Story goes SAAB had the 9-3X ready for introduction when the 9-3 was first introduced (actually a full range of 9-3s), but GM killed the idea. And guess what? Audi did the A6 allroad! Audi did the A3! And GM did what? Basically destroy SAAB, fail at introducing Cadillac in Europe, and essentially abandoning any idea of having a global premium/luxury brand. I think that SAAB might have a chance to survive as a niche player, if indeed they were profitable at 130K/year (ex-GM corporate overheads)...
