1. It is about the money they have and wjere it should be allocated: From what I've read I am pretty sure Magna will partner up with a PE firm, and they'd end up with a minority stake in Chrysler. The rest will be owned by the PE firm, and part of it may eventually be floated if and when Chrysler turns around.2. I don't think such a deal risks their business with other makers. Even in the long run if Magna can make the best proposal (cost-wise or otherwise) to an automaker looking to outsource a component or the manufacturing of some vehicle's systems (even whole vehicles - Magna already builds Chryslers/Jeeps in Austria), it won't matter if they own Chrysler or a chocolate cookie factory. 3. Re Tracinda: the man wants to own an automaker, so maybe Daimler should let him and sell Chrysler to him!

it's interesting an car name name with such heritage is used on what appears to be the Chinese WM. Maybe when a redesign of the WM appears early next decade the Park Avenue can replace the Lucerne... Or maybe GM has found out that the Chinese like the Park Avenue name and this has nothing to do with any Zeta Buick for NA EDIT: could this be the mystery car spotted in Australia? The one that had the WM's rear with a different front end?

I read your post and I think you're spot on, except for that "smoke screen b.s." commment: It wouldn't be smart not to evaluate all options, including the sale, hence the PE funds meetings with Chrysler management. But it would also be plain stupid not to evaluate the possibility of restructuring (i) of Chrysler only or (ii) of the entire group, including a full merger. Business Basics says "study all of your your options on underperforming units: restructure, sell or shut down". I think "Hurry up and wait" sums up what rational people should feel, even though wearing my professional hat, I would like to see a transaction like this taking place in the Auto Sector, and mainly to see how would Chrysler and Mercedes look like in 5 years to 10 years. :AH-HA_wink:

I wouldn't: the only Cadillac that I likes seeing with the Euro-spec darkened tail lights is the SRX. I prefer the red ones on the STS and it is possible to have a red cover with an amber LED turn signal. Euro-spec VW Phaetons have them.

Could these concepts be a preview of Chevy getting a version of the NG Opel Agila? It wouldn't seem to fit Saturn, but it could fit Chevy very well as an entry below the Aveo.

I'm disappointed: Cadillac should have gone with the Chinese interior. Maybe the 'new-car-above-CTS' riding on Zeta can be released in 2010 or 2011 making this STS last only 2 or 3 model years.
