  1. not sure about this one. i'm writing as i remember it: We're not ready to see you yet 99 ways to die

  3. I didn't even notice the green clock.
  4. 'meh', I like the regular Lucerne better. The Lucerne Super's grille just looks out of place...

  6. My reaction to both this and the regular LaCrosse was 'meh'. But since this is just to keep the car going (limping?) until the EpII model arrives, it's kinda bearable.
  7. In the Republic of Ireland they're badged as Opels and should be RHD as people drive on the left side of the road.

  9. I don't know if what I'm about to write is complete crap from an engineering standpoint, but financially, if the added cost (engineering plus manufacturing) of changing some of the "Basic-Zeta attributes" into "Premium-Zeta attributes" (think suspension components, strictly as an example) can be easily ammortized by the pricing premium associated with selling a Cadillac versus selling a Chevrolet, it would make perfect sense for Zeta (or 'Global RWD', which is a much fancier sounding name) being used in everything, from the Chevy Impala and Camaro to a top-of-the-line V12 Cadillac DTS pushing $100k.It'd be interesting for the engineers or engineering-inclined among us to comment on the engineering cost issues of the 'one-platform-fits-all' approach.
  10. "Canadian auto supplier Magna International Inc. and a private equity partner have made a bid to buy the Chrysler Group for about $4.7 billion"From what the article says, $4.7bn is the selling price of the Chrysler Group: Magna gets a 25% stake in the company. What no one except the deal insiders know is exactly what assets and liabilities will be divested from the current company. And that is essential in forming the transaction price! Also, value per share is meaningless to us outsiders at this point: we don't know if the new Chrysler Group will be privately held or if they'll float some shares in the stock market.

    The New Fiat 500

Fiat should have called it the Topolino: a cuter name for a very cute little car
  13. Which means the DTS/STS successor's range might be offered from an entry-level traditional V8 model up to a V12 top-of-the-line car. That could open an opportunity in overlapping a V8 CTS (more performance-oriented but below the V-Series) over that entry-level DTS/STS. That could be a good kind of overlapping IMHO.

  16. I read the article, and I'd like to commment on something: the V6 comes in 2.8L and 3.6L versions (excluding the 3.2L version sold to Alfa Romeo). Pairing each of these versions would yield something from 5.6L to 7.2L (with a mid-point of 6.4L). Maybe what they mean is that they're using the HFV6 as the basis for developing the engine? I think 7.2L is a little excessive and I'd see GM aligning the engine's displacement with the competition, much like what happened to the 2.8L and 3.6L V6's.A 6.4L engine could be strong enough for some form of turbo-/supercharging like Mercedes does with AMG models, no?
  17. Thecarconnection has a story about buick where it is said a RWd buick is being developed to be built both in china and the US. Since they give a 2010/2011 time-frame in the article, I'd say that will be the time the G-body Lucerne is out of the picture... Link: http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/...173.A12090.html
  18. The issue is the NG STS or DTS will be the 7 series competitor in content/features (CTS is 5 series-size already), although it won't compete in price. What cadillac can do is to keep raising the bar the way they did with the 2008 CTS in every single model and gradually (also eventually and hopefully) pick up some of that pricing power. I won't happen overnight and it won't happen on the 2008 CTS alone.
  19. Toga if the word doesn't exist in English, at least it does in Portuguese - it's a piece of clothing used by ancient Greeks and Romans
  20. It doesn't have to match the Euro makers offer model-by-model, but much of what you call Cadillac's "uniqueness" is actually called lack of pricing power: buyers do not percieve Cadillac to be worth paying a price premium. People think BMW and Mercedes are worth paying that premium.
  21. I meant the RWD Luminas (rebadged Holden Commodores).
  22. I didn't vote because there's a huge gap to fill before a 100K base-price, which is what I assumed you're asking here. I could see a V-Series NG DTS/STS getting closer to the XLR-V's 100K pricing, but it's quite a stretch to go further than that right now.

  24. It's a good thing that different GM centers around the World are competing to come up with the best styling/product.
  25. I see... Those vehicles could also be sold in a trim level called the "Shelving-Arm Edition", allowing GM engineering staff to shelve/unshelve programs with ease and comfort
