  1. I like it, and like the rest of y'all said, i would have hung around long enough to have gotten some really good interior shots. And just like everyone else said, think about it, he's out in a preproduction vehicle that everyone wants to see and he's not expecting someone to want to take pictures of it? C'mon, where's common sense brain cell number one? Although I do know a great deal of engineers and they aren't exactly plentiful when it comes to common sense. And the plug at the bottom of the grille would have to be an engine block heater, although I do think its strange to see one in Phoenix, but if its a true preproduction car, it could have come from anywhere to pick the person up and wherever it was getting tested at could require the occasional use of an EBH.
  2. Looks like those trucks are going to be monsters. I mean damn....they were shooting from long range and its THAT big on the pictures. I'm patiently waiting to see what the new trucks look like because I want to see what the bodies are going to look like since there is supposed to be a definite difference between them and the Suburban, Tahoe and Yukons. And I agree with y'all on the chrome front and rear bumpers, if one is going to be, then the other should likewise be.
  3. Yeah, I remember that being mentioned, just didn't come to mind at the time, thanks.
  4. I agree with you on that one Vipes, the G5 should stay the Grand Prix, and the G8 should be the Bonneville, hands down....now if calling them the G5 and G8 respectively in their redesign/new concept stages is all right, then so be it, but don't come out with an all alpha-numeric system of cars. It'll make me think I'm at work and looking at part numbers.
  5. Yeah, its funny, I'm the second owner of my Impala and I accidentally pushed the OnStar button while driving (I was trying to turn the self-dimmer rear view mirrow option off for a moment) and I was greeted by my name and I haven't even signed up for the service....although it was nice to know that at least the information is there if I wanted to sign up for it.
  6. I guess i'm the weird one then that see's the Miata as a "speedbump with wheels"
  7. I don't get what the whole deal with overhangs is. I mean if the car is well proportioned for what its supposed to be, what matters if the front and rear fenders overhang the wheel a little bit?
  8. 5 o'clock 500
  9. Two 66 Impalas, 71 Opel GT, and the damnedest thing....I was driving to work this morning and saw a representative of every Chevy pickup from 1955 to 2006 heading down I65 towards Mobile.
  10. that's true, but on the same note, look at Pontiac, it takes the name Grand Am that's been around for quite some time and makes it G6, Mazda could do the same and change it to the Mazda1 Miata.
  11. Whoops, forgot, about the actual Mazda 5....oh well, I guess the Miata could be the 1 then. And you've gotta be joking when you say Nissan has registered the Cube.......
  12. Yeah, or a powerboat of some form.
  13. I heard about the story yesterday, I think it was, and it surprised me. I know that I get my feathers ruffled the wrong way pretty routinely working in the auto parts business, but its nothing that a couple of hours at the gym working out, or having a drink while at dinner can't fix. If someone gets that P-O'ed about things, then he/she should seek professional help.....suicide certainly isn't the answer.

  15. A mazda 1 through 9.....sheesh.....if the Miata is the 5, I'd absolutely HATE to see what the 1 is.
  16. Fly, thanks for that, I needed the laugh seriously, my sore throat didn't, but I did. By the way, speaking of in-bed trunks....I saw a Fridgeline that was broken down the middle today......apparently the owner tried to actually haul something in that nice plastic bed...and it snapped.....
  17. Toni, the best thing I can say is that we can only hope that there is a new Chevelle to come out (or at least I can only hope that there is a new Chevelle to come out)
  18. Thanks Hudson for supporting me, even if you don't like what I think. At least we can agree to disagree. And I agree with a lot of what everyone says, as far as the styling goes, its slowed to a creep, so in the interim (sp), everyone is looking back to the years when there were multiple cars in the market that reached out and grabbed you. And believe me, I hate to call cars like the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro "interim", but lets face it as far as styling is concerned, its something to take up the space. Hopefully, however, the time period won't be too long and there will be some new designer who comes around and knocks all our socks off with designs that blow us all away. Although I don't see that happening with the restrictions that have to be placed on cars today to meet safety and fuel mileage regulations. And I like the new Cadillacs, especially the CTS, its sporty looking, very modern and it strikes you, even though the car has been out for a full year now, I still have to admire one when I see it on the road. Although if I see a 1972 Chevelle SS454 cruising or sitting, I'm goign to admire it just as much because the cars catch you.

  21. I know that there is probably going to be some hazing for this one, but I like retro, give me a car that takes some styling cues from a '55-58 Belair and put it on the road today at a reasonable price and great options and I'll buy one in a heartbeat, just as I would if I had a chance to purchase the Camaro....I'm not horribly fond of the Challenger simply because it looks TOO retro. Now on the same note, the Mustang looks good as it is, sure it takes a whole lot of styling cues from the '69 Mustang, and in fact looks like a very modernized '69, which although I dislike Ford in general, I've always had a liking towards the late 60s, very early 70s Mustangs. On the same note, there are way too many cookie-cutter cars that have to work on similar architectures, share parts, meet collision and aerodynamic standards that are around today that weren't back in the 60s and earlier. If a retro craze and styling time is what the automotive industry and the Big 3 in particular have to go through, then so be it.
  22. Now that one I don't know Neon, I'd have to do some parts checking and crossing (since I do work somewhere where looking at part numbers all day long is my job). I know that the 262 V6 is a 350 with parts missing is because a friend of mine spun a main bearing one day and we tore the bottom end out of it, I had a good main bearing from a 350 and we slapped that one in there and its been running since then. If I remember right, it was at 198,000 when it spun it and now its got near 285,000...still running strong. I also know that the 229 V6 that Chevrolet built was a 305 with parts missing because I've torn one apart before. I'm not sure how the 231 that we all know now came about but I know that it uses similar pistons to the 229 (I've already checked the part numbers), but I haven't been able to really research it. I guess you could say that the SBC engines were in a sense the first "modular" engines being able to go from a V8 configuration at multiple displacements to a V6 configuration with equally multiple displacements, and everyone says that the Ford 4.2, 4.6, and 5.4 were the first, hah!
  23. Thanks on that one y'all, I mistook myself when I said 3V53, just kinda had that V-series engine designation running through my head. I honsetly didn't know when Detriot started its life as a company, although I did know that they were a part of General Motors, as a whole, just didn't understand why when they used in Chevrolet or GMC trucks they weren't called as such, but kept their Detriot name. I understand that Cummins, Ford, Detriot, Mercedes, Cat, and the other HD diesel manufacturers enjoy their rights and priviledges when it comes to their engines, but I was just being curious.
  24. Really yeah, they should call the Blue Devil the ZR-1, simply because the last ZR-1 was a very high performance Vette. And moving up the productuion schedule on the Camaro would be a great thing, and we know that it'll share some parts with existing platforms/vehicles, that's just the easiest way to bring the car to production without a lot of strings and hiccups attached. I really do hope that they do bring both cars out of the woodworks and surpise us all, it'd really give me something to look forward too along with give me another reason to pester my wife and hope and pray that she'll let me buy one.
  25. First: Detriot Diesel engine designation 8V92 and similar (3V53, 6V71, etc) means what? Second: Why are Detriot Diesel engines known as Detriots, instead of GM or Chevrolet engines as they really are? (this one I honestly don't know an answer to, but I would love to hear answers/theories)
