Well, as of my last good pilot's certificate, Montgomery to Mobile, Montgomery to Atlanta (that was fun, a Cessna coming to land with 747s all around). Montgomery to Birmingham, Montgomery to Beaufort, SC, Tuscaloosa, AL to Pensecola, FL to Corpus Christi, Montgomery to Dallas, Montgomery to Nashville, Montgomery to Columbus, MS and Columbus GA.....and by then my medical certificate expired and I didn't have the money to get it renewed, so I lost my flight certification. I've flown to Heathrow from Atlanta, and then hopped on a USAF C-130 and ground mapped all the way to Ramstien AB, Germany not too long ago though.

Well since I'm from the South, or as some of y'all would call it, the DEEP SOUTH, I have to say that I love it here. Sure I liked Chicago and Atlanta and Orlando and Miami and Fort Lauderdale and Dallas, and all the other big cities, but I really like Montgomery, we have some good cultural stuff (There is a rather large Shakespeare theatre facility here), and we have movies, but we also have the things I really like. We have woods, and lakes and rivers and fishing and hunting and yes, even we have country music, which I like too. Although I am not your typical southerner, I like a lot of different musics simply because my parents believed that I should develop my own musical tastes (thank god). I know a good number of people from Cali, and Chicago, and New York (City and state) and I have to admit there are good ones and bad ones, I think that's the same everywhere no matter what. Going to the school I went to, The University of Alabama, I ran into a bunch of different people from a heck of a lot of different places, and I tended to get along with them as long as they didn't have their head shoved up their own ass so far that they'd have to far to breath, so yeah, there are definitely good people and bad ones. Now I will admit that I have an accent, but from what I can tell, every woman I know from elsewhere thinks its quite attractive (I dunno why its just southern drawl)

Hell yes, most definitely I would buy a V8 I couldn't afford a V8 powered car when I bought my Grand Am or my Impala, but my next ride WILL have a V8 and be rwd. My wife wants a Magnum with the Hemi (I'm trying to talk her out of it and wait but she's pretty dead set) Me I want a RWD Impala or a Camaro, I don't care about hauling the kids around, I want to make long black marks on pavement and listen to those pipes roar.

That's a beautiful Tahoe, and of course Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to visit (at least so I've heard). And there's nothing wrong with a 2wd truck as long as you drive it responsibly and know what you're doing. Anyway, its a beaut!
-
I gotcha there man. If I had the money for it, I know that I would put a bid up for the Camaro right now, but there's the issue of paying off the enormous school debts I have right now and making sure that me and the wife have a roof over our heads. So, what did you think of the truck?
-
So why is your Camaro going up for new ownership, and exactly what are you asking for it?

I know what you guys are saying on that one, I used to live in a trailer for a while too, although no one knows it from looking at me now. I drove down my old street this afternoon after work and it's still unoccuppied, the Popcorn tree is still standing in the front yard (the tree I always used to climb when i was a kid), and my best friend's lot is still empty too (we lived across the street from one another). Whenever I go and visit my mom and dad, they have kept my room just like it was when I left it....my model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, the "mini monster" (scale model of a 1976 Chevy pickup) sitting in it's display case, all the posters from sports to cars to planes still on the walls, hell even my bed is still in there and made up with the sheets that I liked the most (guess mom and dad think that if me and the wife ever fight I can always come back home and have a comfy bed). I definitely have to say that going back home is always a warm experience, kinda gives you a warm fuzzy, you know?

I sincerely hate to say it but there is no way that a Crown Victoria could keep up with that GTO unless someone was really taking it easy or didn't how in the hell to drive. I've driven enough Police Interceptors (I'm friends with one too many cops, state troopers, and county sheriffs) and they're fast sure, but they're big, heavy, four door cars, they weren't mean for drag racing at all, they were meant to be safe, dependable, transportation for police officers and the criminals that are stuffed into the back seat, sure they're put through hell in their lives, but they aren't drag cars.

It would appear that I'm the only Alabamian on there, the closest two to me are Florida and Georgia.
-
The car looks fabulous North, just like everyone else get rid of the front tag and the dealer sticker, and maybe if you can convince the powers that be, add some pinstriping down the side or something to kinda break up the all silver outside.

Well first there's my truck: 1976 Chevrolet C10 350cid V8 THM350 3.73 GM 10-bolt, 210,000 miles, third GENERATION owner/driver. That's my toy. Then there's my daily driver: 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS 231cid V6 4T65E, 106,000 miles, I'm the second owner. The Wife's daily: 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt (not sure of exact trim level) 2.2L Ecotec, 11,000 miles, she's leasing it. Then there's my parent's truck: 2003 Chevrolet S-10 ZR5 crew cab 262cid V6, 4L60E, 4wd, 40,000 miles on it, only owner. Then there's my dad's work truck: 1992 Chevrolet C1500 W/T 262cid V6, unknown trans; 5-speed manual, only god knows how many miles. Then my granddad's truck: 1983 Chevrolet C20 350cid V8 THM400 4.11 GM 12-bolt, 160,000 miles, second owner. Then my granddad's daily driver: 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer 262cid V6 THM700-R4, 148,000 miles on it, only owner. And well then there's the project vehicles.... 1949 Plymouth Sedan, straight 6, unknown manual transmission...going to eventually have a 360 and a TorqueFlight 727 in it. 1931 Ford Model A, going to be restored back to orginal specifications (once we steal half the money in the world to restore it back that way). http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/e_gladwell/d...re2.jpg&.src=ph

I'll be moving this one to another post with more pictures of the rest of "the fleet".

I've always liked those year Rivs, I've done some work on them before, mostly the supercharged models and the supercharger belt tensioner going out over time, but it happens. A friend of mine that works at Budwieser has me do all his work for him on it and its been a great car for him and for me to work on. It looks really good and I hope that you are able to keep it in good shape.

Really really beautiful cars. I've seena '63 Pontiac Grand Prix down near my grandparent's house that I would love to just up and raid the car from where it's parked (no one lives on this lot and its just parked there, and in damn good condition), but I know that's kinda illegal. they are really beautiful toys, I wouldn't dare get rid of any of them, specially the '67 or '72, which were my favorite two years.

And now by George, we'll have pictures of this beast! Photo Album

The car looks absolutely spectacular! It has taken me a while to get used to the 4th gen Camaro's and Firebirds, but I'm really starting to get attached to them. It looks really great and I hope that you can somehow convince your dad to let you get under the wheel of it.
-
congrats on the car. They all look really good and I hope that you get many years of good service out of yours and the others in your family. Kinda like my fleet.

I say kill the 4.8 and the 5.3, I know they're good engines and designed on a tried and true base, but seriously, what was wrong with the 305 and 350?
-
All right better put, I would put the pictures of it up if I remember how....if anyone cars to help me out on the issue, it would be greatly appreciated. After spending a day selling car parts all day my brain can't wrap itself around the computer tonight.

It doesn't look like a Lincoln to me and that disturbs me. I know that everyone likes something new every now and again, but at the same time, it has to pay homage to the cars that brought it there (however horrible they have or have not been). The only thing that even roughly pays homage to Lincolns of past is the grille, the rest is really butt ugly. I just don't like it no matter what its called, what engine it has, what price range it is, I just can't see anyone really liking it from any other view but the front. I have to admit that the front is pretty fair looking, but the overall look of the car does not have a cohesiveness.
-
I still say that the best looking trucks on the road are the 73-87 C-series Chevy's and GMC's to me, they look like a truck is supposed to. They look tough, with the noticable 2-inch lower squat in the front and the squared off shape....and besides, you can't hurt on of those trucks, I should know i'm the third generation owner of a 1976 C-10 with 210,000 miles on it. If my graddad, dad, and me can't hurt it no one can, unless they have a land mine or anti-tank missile. This thing just looks kinda goofy, and from what a friend of mine says about his current Tacoma, it ain't worth it, the V6 with the 6speed is nice, but it just doesn't get good mileage and seems a whole heap underpowered, but that's just from me riding in it. If anything I hope that this does better than its predecessors, but I'll still stick with my truck.
-
I want one. I want one right now, this instant and I won't care about anything else. I love the room under the hood, and WMJ isn't the 496 the GM truck 8.1L big block engine? Or am I wrong? I'd love to see that crammed in there and see the tires get all nice and smoked right off the rim, although I do like the room that's in there right now. And who cares about an airbag, I really don't like them, and the fact that it's a pyrotec-nically charged device that reaches out and "cushions" your face at 200mph just doesn't sound good to me, although I will admit it is better than having no airbag and kissing the nice hard steering wheel.

Camaro tops GM's rwd list; Buick Velite concept, P
76ChevyTrucker replied to ehaase's topic in General Motors
I really don't think that Saturn needs a rwd car to be based of the Camaro/GTO platform, however, Buick does, badly need one. I say make the Buick VeLite (Although personally, i'd prefer it called a Regal, or GNX). And give Pontiac the redesigned GTO, and a four door counterpart, called the Grand Prix. Give Chevrolet the Camaro and a four door counterpart, called the Chevelle, or even the Impala (I like both names too much to make a hard decision on that right now). Now I konw that I'm not an insider, and I know that the Sky is a rear wheel drive coupe, and personally I believe that is all they should have. The rest should be Import fighters and front wheel drive, but of course I'm not a bean counter up there in the corporate office making these decisions. -
The Enclave is a beautiful vehicle. I love it, and although I'm not a HUGE Buick fan (parents had a '97 Buick Century that went through two 4T65E trannies in its lifetime before it was traded in for the ZR5 crew cab S10, but that Century damn sure rode good and got good mileage), I could say that if I had the money and the need for it, it would doggone sure be in the driveway along with the wife's car (she wants a Magnum, i'm trying to talk her out of it).
