  1. Is this on Delta 2? If it is when is Delta 2 coming out? The Saturn Astra will hit the new Jetta hard.
  2. The xB is ugly. The only person that I have ever seen interested in the car are both over 50 years old. Well, It appears that the tiny cars are merely mid-life crisis cars. Boomers whose first cars were the Toyota Corollas of the 1970s are now buying these tiny cars for themselves or for their kids. I have never seen anyone that is from 16-26 in age ever act like they would want one. Many would be caught dead in one. My generation wants flashy, fast cars that are luxurious and affordable. Not ugly tin cans. That is what Boomers settled for during the Oil Crisis of the 70s. Scion is a failure. The best thing Toyota can do is to turn into a cheaper altenative to Toyota, aka Toyota's version of Kia or Hyundai. As for Toyota, their average age is rising quickly as it sucks up WW2 gen buyers. The Camry effectively replaced the Century & Cutlass as the old fogey-mobile. Meanwhile, Corolla sales are being sucked away to Mazda, Hyundai, & Kia. I think that if Pontiac got its own unique delta compact that it would be the best selling compact in the US. Just like how the Aveo is the best-selling Subcompact. The Aura could be the best selling Midsizer whle the Lucerne remains the best-selling Full-sizer.
  3. hey,y is it that a moderate attack on the Japanese and Toyota in partucular is not justified in your mind. The facts are Detriots cars are show EPA MPG figures that are more conservative than their Japanese counterparts. If Toyota wants to prevent this let them just improve them so when the new system comes out that the MPG figures would little change. If it doesn't make sense then may be Toyota is in more trouble than I thought.Anyway, Detriot will benefit 110% from this new more realistic system. GM, Ford, & Chrysler would be smart to rapidly improve their engines right as the new system takes effect. Toyota MPG figures down 10-40%, GM up 10-40%, I see it happen where the roles shift and the Sheeple are shocked to be the fools that they are.
  4. I've notice a surge of Cobalts & G6s in NJ. NJ is far more diverse and sophisticated than isolated, and Asia-oriented California. In fact the whole West coast has an pro-asian bias.
  5. Toyota & Honda are attracting the same demographic that brought Olds and Buick to great heights just to see the greatest declines in auto history. If history repeats itself that would be great because, Toyota will be as stodgy as Buick was and Honda would be as fogey as Olds was. I just see that this growth can't last forever. Buick, Saturn, Mercury, Chrysler, & Hyundai will really start to hit the Japanese hard over the next 10 years.
  6. The cost effectiveness of hybrids remains undetermined. At this moment true economical fuel savings will come from improvements to the internal combustion engine such as Direct Injection & Continously Variable Displacement.
  7. I'm going on April 21st. I just have no definite plan on what time. Anytime betwen opening and closing.
  8. Japanese automakers have long been known for their fuel economy even before they were known for their quality. However, this major elling point for Toyota, Honda, & Nissan will be taking a hit. Toyota's the most liberal in posting high MPG figures. The all-new Toyota 3.5L V-6 suppostedly achieves 22city/31hwy MPG. This figure is for ideal conditions, not real conditions. GM and Ford both have been using realistic figures for its engines since the early 2000s. If you look back, Ford's 3.0L DOHC V-6 actually out performed Toyota's 3.0L DOHC V-6 in ideal conditions. Ford downgraded its 3.0L V-6 durin g the 2000 MY Taurus revamp. Oldsmobile's 3.5L DOHC V-6 had better MPG scores than GM's new 3.6L HF V-6. GM & Ford are being conservative to make way for the new realistic EPA MPG estimates program due to take effect by 2010. The last thing they need right now is to rebuild their rep just to have it smashed by the new EPA sytem. Toyota for now will reap the rewards of using the more idealistic system that is currently in place. Toyota's 3.5L DOHC V-6 Idealistic MPG 22/31 Realistic MPG 21/29 Realistic w/o Dual VVT & DI 19/27 GM 3.6L DOHC V-6 Realistic 18/27 Realistic with Dual VVT & DI 20/29 Idealistic with Dual VVT & DI 21/31 Hey, these figures are aweful similar! Why, because, engineering principles work the same in all applications. Two similarly sized engines when equiped with similar technologies will perform similarly whether its hp or MPG. Toyota's & Honda's Hybrids have the most to lose b y this new system. They could have MPG ratings reduced by as much as 30-40%. While most Japanese engines will go down 5-10% percent. It appears that the new AFM or DOD engines are the only engines that deliver on the promise of high MPG. The next gen DOD systems will be continously variable, meaning they will optimise the fuel economy at all times despite how the driver drives in real world conditions as is the problem with hybrids. The most important fact of this is Detriot has been given another oppurtunity to beat Japan on their primary weapon MPG. Dteriot better take advantage of this oppurtunity of a lifetime. They may never get another chance to so blantenly crush them on a faux strong point.

    BLS Cadillac

Although the BLS isn't needed in the US. A midsize epsilon is needed to take on the ES, TL, & MKZ. I'd call it the BTS. It would be on E2 and would come with next-gen Caddy styling a 3.6L 270hp V-6, a 6-spd AT,& availible AWD. A Theta-based BRX should have similr drivetrain features. The next DTS should be on Chi and come with a 4.3L 315hp V-8, a 6spd AT, & AWD. A Lambda-based DRX should be produced with the same drivetrain options. Here's how size differences will change, these are approximates. CTS($30-40k($50k(CTS-V)))=BLS($25-30k) STS($40-60k($70k(STS-V)))=BTS($30-40k) ULS($60-110k($120k(STS-V)))=DTS($40-55k) Thats all for now.
  10. Saturn should roughly equal Honda. Saturn Outlook=Honda Pilot Saturn Aura=Honda Accord Saturn Astra=Honda Civic Saturn Corsa?=Honda Fit Saturn Triton?=Honda Ridgeline Saturn Antara=Honda CR-V Saturn Zafira?=Honda Odyssey Saturn Sky=Honda S2000 See where I'm going with this Saturn is finding its natural target Honda. Let's guess how much volume Saturn could have by say 2015.
  11. Looks better but, there is a little bit of Acura Vigor in the front grill.
  12. Well, whatever your politics the rise of alternatie media such as conservative talk radio have helped counter liberal bias in the media. Perhap the Import bias of the autopress will be countered by an alternative media like autoblogs such as Chees & Gears?

    BLS Cadillac

    Cadillac=Lexus=Lincoln BTS(Epsilon)=ES=MK-Z DTS(Chi)=RS?=MK-S BRX(Theta,5-pass)=EX?=MK-ZX DRX(Lambda,7-pass)=RX=MK-SX Escalade=Land Cruiser=Navigator CTS=IS=MK-L STS=GS=MK-T ULS=LS=MK-C CRX?(Sigma 5-pass)=IX?=MK-LX SRX(Sigma 5-pass)=GX=MK-TX URX?(Sigma 7-pass)=LX=MK-CX Just an idea, anyway the BLS is good for Europe or Canada not the US. It would compete nicely with the Acura TSX.
  14. Let's just drop the rules so people go back to full-size cars. The only reason for the reign of the SUV is due to CAFE. CAFE has actually increased the consumption of fuel by the average American. Figure that a V-8 equiped Full-size sedan will get better MPG than a V-6 Midsize SUV or even a midsize CUV. I think that the CAFE program is a total failure. If we really want to change things. The governent should take money from CAFE & the EPA and use to promote Ethanol & Biodiesel to replace Gasoline & Diesel. Then, Hydrogen is next for gov't support.
  15. I'd like to see when Lexus makes a full-size DTS-like car and the autorags will act like the Lexus was a breakthrough in luxury. Meanwhile, the DTS/Deville mastered that segment 20 years. The ES is nice but, when will Caddy get an Epsilon sedan to take on the unrebuked ES. Yes, the TL & MKZ aren't giving the ES an easy time but, the BTS will hurt the ES real bad.
  16. Entry Midsize FWD cars Chevy Malibu Ford Fusion Kia Optima Dodge Avenger Mitsubishi Galant Suzuki Verona Mazda 6 Pontiac G6 Premium Midsize FWD cars Saturn Aura Buick LaCrosse(on E2) Mercury Milan Hyundai Sonata Chrysler Sebring Toyota Camry Honda Accord Nissan Altima VW Passat Luxury Midsize FWD cars Cadillac BTS(BLS?) Lincoln MKZ Acura TL Lexus ES Volvo S80 Saab 9-5 We Should never see a comparo of a Luxury car to a Premium Car or of a Premium car to an Entry. I know that the Sonata & Sebring fall below a Camry now but, next gen they will. anyway, my point is that comparos must be realistic and fair.
  17. Does anybody understand that Zeta is not a mainstream platform, even if GM okayed it it will never go over 250k for all its products. GM is still going to be a largely FWD company still. Chevy will get a Camaro, Buick a flagship, Pontiac a GTO, Chevy may be an Impala. However, don't be surprised if they don't follow the mainstream Chrysler route.
  18. FWD has two problems torque steer and something else, I can't remember, do u?

    GMC

GMC is primarily a truck brand. However, why not make it live up to the name General Motors Commercial. 1)GMC should not be availible for non-commercial costumers. GMCs would be sold wholesale to its commercial costumers.Saturn would take on selling non-commercial costumer models. 2)GMC would have two versions of every major type of GM vehicle sold in the US, the 2 types are Basic(Entry)& Denali(luxury). 3)This would liberate GM's 5 main brands from official fleet sales. Any fleet buyer would get the same cars as other costumers. Only personal changes to product may be made for disabilties, etc. 4)Pontiac & Buick would no longer need to worry about selling trucks anymore. Tell me what u think? I know its crazy, I don't ever know how it could really work.
  20. a GM bankruptcy would be the final deathnail in the UAW's coffin. GM will finally be able to compete.
  21. I like it but I would like to see a little more movement away from the failed last gen of Olds design.
  22. The Mazda 6 is based on the Volvo S60, the S60 is the progenitor of all CD3 cars.
  23. 1) Dual VVT(1-3years for mainstream GM product) This will be on the next gen 3.6L HF V-6. GM will likely set Toyota's 3.5L Dual-VVT V-6 as the benchmark to follow for it HF 3.6L V-6 and its HF 2.8L V-6. GM will match Toyota's HP and MPG. 2) Direct Fuel injection(2-3years for mainstream GM product) This will premier on the next CTS on the 3.6L HF V-6. This engine will have Dual-VVT and Direct Injection. HP will be blown to up to 340hp! DirectInjection will surplant conventionl Fuel Injection with in a decade on all applications 3) Active Fuel Management(currently, next gen 3-4years) This has already been introduced on several vehicles including th Impala SS. However, a newer more flexible version will outperform hybrids both on the HWY and in the City. AFM will be very common place as the hybrid fad fades into more cost effective methods to save gas. 4) Camless Engines(beyond 5 years) There are no official plans to develop these new engines in the next 5yrs. However, they are to the 2010s what the OHV engine was to the 1950s and what the OHC engine was to the 1980s. GM will likely take advantage of theis high tech oppurtunity. GM doesn't want to lag behind the high-tech latter like it has so long on OHC engines.
  24. blah blah blah, who cares I drive an '87 Pontiac 6000 STE with not an airbag in sight and I'm not scared. Ford will solve the problem on the '07s and fix many '06s. I suspect Ford will be replacing this gen in 4 years anyway,2011 MY.
  25. Ok, before somebody calls out "Fire!" in a theater. Hey, look Suzuki, Subaru, Fiat, Isuzu, etc. Are interesting investments but, Daewoo is a winner. GM got its own Hyundai. Now GM will develop product in the US, Germany, and Korea. Daewoo-based products will soon be built in NA. So, let's not jump off the deep end. Ok?
