  1. EXACTLY. And KC: while I mostly agree with the gist of your rants PLEASE DO NOT try to reduct the rich and beautiful history of Oldsmobile to wire-wheel covers and stand-up hood ornaments! Last time I checked THOSE Oldsmobiles sold, it was the quasi-Lexus ones that looked like Gell-tabs that sunk the brand like the Titanic. And what's wrong with stand up hood ornaments anyway? Nothing says I'm proud to be a (Mercedes/Cadillac/Packard/RR...) better!
  2. I for one, will miss the H2. It's a free country, and even if gas goes to $4/gal if I had/have the $ to fuel it up then damnit I should be able to buy one! I often times wonder why most American's are so willing to have the government TELL them how to live their lives. CAFE sux!!!
  3. LOL Sad but I guess it's a necessary evil in Canada. At least it looks kind of like a POntiac, although those tail lights make you think this thing is on an acid-trip & freakin' out! I would love to buy a '97-ish Pontiac Firefly just to say I have one.
  4. I am soooooo sick of the "RWD means LESS interior space" stereotype. There's only ONE FWD car that I have experienced that DOES not have a driveshaft hump, XP's '67 Cadillac Eldorado has a completely FLAT floor. Due to its BOF design this is possible, but today's pepsi-can unibody $h!boxes NEED the driveshaft (exhaust) hump in the middle of the floor to help strengthen the floorboards, and by extension torsial ridgidity. So that's ONE car, that has been off the market since 1970, that has a SLIGHT advantage in terms of interior space due to its FWD. HOw about the other 471,278,506 modern FWD cars that have their front wheels set SO damn far back in the wheelbase their wheel well is actually EATING up 60% of the footwell?! FWD cars suck in terms of packaging, but the dumb masses once again just eat up the bull$h! misnomers like ice cream on a hot day.
  5. What is the price point? base? loaded?
  6. Pontiac Hauler Pontiac Speedwagon (a little nod to REO) Pontiac GTU Pontiac Tailgate Pontiac Caballero? (still not sure of this name, I think it's both very cool & dorky) Pontiac GTT Pontiac Ute
  7. I've been SERIOUSLY eyeballing a car that's for sale down the street... - 1939 Nash. Older gentleman seller wants $3500 for it... runs/drives but needs brake work. Looks like this but more beat up, and it's a champagne 2dr. http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/1939-1...mbassador-1.jpg
  8. Honestly.... except for a little bit of Lexus-generic styling (grille & small details) it's looking like a great product. Too bad it will be stealing sales away from GM but the silver lining is that this car will EAT Toyota;s & Honda's lunch.
  9. Seen a corn dog, if only a few times in my 29 years on this planet... never eaten one. I looooove me a good ht dawg though.
  10. DF: With all due respect, why not just take a few spare parts off of it for your mom's new beater and call a junkyard...? Take the $150 they will give YOU after THEY pick it up and ship it off on the back of a rollback truck, and use the money to fix one of those many quirks that need to be addressed on one of your RUNNING vehicles. Like Chicken-Saturn said, new oil is a good idea, (amongst other things) but then again is the Caravan worth the $12 that it will cost you? I don;t know, honestly asking...? My personal opinion is that you signed that cars' death certificate when you (or your parents) decided to park it and let it sit outside for the last two years. For all you know mice got in there and chewed up the entire wiring harness.
  11. 250-powered, 4-speed 1970s or early 1980s Chevrolet/GMC pickup for good fuel economy.
  12. I could care less about most Fords but it's kind of surprising to see a '56 Lincoln Conti in a junkyard! Not that I personally care for them but by contrast that car makes a '67 Mustang seem like a '93 Tempo.
  13. Cop cars are not about efficiency... they're about performance & durability. No one cares that you're getting 28mpg if you can't catch/overtake the bad guy!
  14. I've gotten the itch for an old school Pontiac as of late.
  15. Hahhhahahah! Good stuff. Once in a great while the Japanese actually do something original & worthwhile. YES please!
  16. I'm wigth you Camino... unless a lot of parts bin-scrounging was to happen. When I started reading the article I expected it to be LS1 powered or perhaps HEMI powered but inline-6 turbo-diesel? I'm assuming that means it is supposed to have a Cummins under the hood...?
  17. My bad dude, I miss-read. Good for you, great project.
  18. OPEC & the powers that be are getting so damn greedy it's just sickening! Last night I fueled up the Banana Boat with 87-octane @ $3.05/gal. Premium was $3.27/gal. (don't recollect mid-grade). This is about average around here for the past few months, but just last week I payed $3.29/gal. for regular at a local Exxon. This kind of abuse is disgusting... all this B.S. talk of how expensive it is getting to find/drill/transport oil and India's/China's growing thirst for gas etc... The fact is OIL COMPANIES ARE POSTING RECORD PROFITS!!! I swear they would be making a killing @ $1.99/gallon. That would still be more (after inflation) than it was prior to 2004.
  19. When I bought my '94 Roadmaster Estate last year I said on more than one occasion that I'd love to install a front clip (nose) off a Roadmaster sedan, never happened... it's a common idea for us Buick guys. Great project I wish him luck with it!
  20. I've been saying that for a while too... a modern B-body with hydroformed rails & other modern advabces would kick Ford's ass so hard their grandkids would feel it! I wish that would happen!
  21. Lot of J-body bashing in this thread... as much as the FWD revolution of the 1980s is IMHO the WORST Automotive trend of all time!!!! I will say that the J-body, esp. the 1980s Cavalier/Sunbird/Skyhawk/Firenza had several good things going for them, there was a LOT of variety... 2dr & 4dr sedans, convertibles, fastbacks, wagons, their styling was far better than most "economy cars" of the era and you therefore did not look like you bought the absolute cheapest econobox even in a $7000 J2000 or a $9500 Cavalier Type-10. And there was the availability of an auto and STICKS, several motors incl. V6s and turbocharged fours....
  22. MR2s are from a different Era, way cooler than any of today's Toyopets. But that's not saying much. At least a small chunk of the profit fro the Vibe goes to GM/Pontiac.
  23. This car will sell very well IMO. The G8 is an amazing product.
  24. Opec, greedy? Whodathunk it!? Don't get me started on this topic... it's disgusting how baddly we're being r4ped on fuel prices.
