  1. Those new Nissan Fits are like the hottest cars on the streets right now, Son. You pick one up, throw some deep-dish dubs on that sucka, it be off the hook!
  2. Funny you post the photo's of Al Jolsons' V16 Fleetwood... Just last night I picked up a special ordered 1:24th scale model of this car, molded by Italieri and out of production I manahged to snag one at a local hobby shop. The guy there "knew a guy, who knew a guy..." One week & a modest $28 later I have a never been opened example. You can get a less expensive, already built 1:32 scale version of this model in a few stores or ebay... they're like $12 including a plastic display case. Never seen the real thing though... This exquisite car has an interior built for Mr. Jolson with some very interesting touches... pigskin seats, silk visors, mohogany & seude are amongst the interesting materials. Now someone needs to build a model of the "Red Devil" V16 Cadillac Dual Cowl Phaeton.
  3. My Roadmaster averages 14.8 with about 300lbs. of tools in the trunk, me driving like an a$$hole & 99% city. I would not trade it for some cheap four cylinder POS in a million years, just to MAYBE double my MPG and loose serious amounts of practicality & comfort. My 5-speed 2.4 liter Datsun averaged only 20.1 with the same driving. And NOS; I'm pretty sure no one ever bought a Nissan 240 for MPGs...
  4. Add Hillary "Carpetbagger" Clinton & Ralph Nader and that's a damn good list.
  5. That interior is lookin' pretty good! Still, at this point I'd rather build my own "C.A.R.S." chassis '69 hardtop. It would cost me the same and I'd be proud of having built it myself!
  6. 396 big block & powerglide in a Ford huh? Suuuure.... but I'd rather have a '67 Chrysler Newport with a Pontiac 455 and dynaflow; from the factory. A year ago almost to the day I was looking into purchasing a really REALLY clean 1977 Chevy Nova 4dr sedan. It had new paint, a VERY clean Pontiac Ventura interior in it and Iroc-Z rims... I loved the look of the car. It was powered by the tried and tested original 250 inline-6 and mated to three-on-the-tree manual. The kid was asking too much and I ended up buying a clone of my Datsun 810 Maxima instead (which I sold to buy the '77 Caddy CdV) but I did have a good & interesting conversation with this kids' dad. He was a nice guy and had some legitimate stories to tell that seemed plausible, EXCEPT: He insisted he had a '59 Buick back in the day, it had a factory powerglide in it. (always with the powerglide!) and went as far as to say that Dynaflow did not reach production untill the early 1960s... Whatever.... Also, he sent me on a wild goose chase to find a big Buick in a local gas station that he insisted was for sale, it was a '59 Buick (even agreed that it was the one with the real angry looking headlights & big fins) and after a few weeks of searching I found a not so mint '63 Buick 4dr post.... Electra IIRC Yes, 1963. These cars (at least in my opinion) are about as different as post-war cars get!
  7. I work with this dope who LOVES Hondas. He thinks that they are God's gift to cars. I mean really, this guy told me how one of the sickest and fastest cars on the street right now is the last gen. Prelude. According to him a TSX is the best sport sedan on the market. But here's the kicker... he drives a '96 Dodge Neon. Today he told me how his Neon is stupid-quick, quite the sleeper. What mods has he performed you ask? He installed a cam from an Intrepid. I - kid - you - not - ! Honda: for those too dumb to own Mopar.
  8. Mitsubishi: For those who think Toyota's business practices are WAY too ethical!
  9. Six years ago when I bought my '68 Camaro I knew next to NOTHING about fixing up cars, old or new... but I started learning, and FAST. Little by little I bought some basic tools and my know-how increased exponentially.
  10. The whole reason why I love Mercedes coupes is their HARDTOP greenhouses. This thing has an ugly B-pillar and is therefore useless as far as I'm concerned. The last C-coupe "three door" was ugly as sin from the back.
  11. Your Electra is a great example of a classic Buick, I still do not understand why you are giving up on it after one failed attempt at bodywork repair.
  12. $40K is a lot of money... but you don't get much for that anymore. Still it's too much!
  13. Good advice. But Good parts are cheap for BOF cars powered by SBC V8s, so why be stingy!? There's plenty of them in the junkyards unfortunately... when it comes to non-wearable items. So far I've driven about 1600 miles in the Roadmaster and I've spent the following: $7.00 to fix a broken gas tank strap... (800lbs. chain did the trick) $15.00 on three tires from the junkyard this am* 80% tread, good sidewalls! $18.00 on an oil change $4.00 for a couple of light bulbs * every last sat. of the month is $5.00 tire day at Holland's junkyard in Billerica... $5 a tire including the rim, so long as it's a cheap steel rim of less than 16" wire, aluminum, or other alloy wheels + tires are $35
  14. The 2nd Amendment is THE most important, esp. because the longevity of the 1st directly depends on the 2nd. Just like Charlton Heston said: From my cold, dead henads!
  15. It was all a money issue in the end. If I had just not been so damn frugal in May and bought a new H20 pump off ebay for $275 instead of the used one for $75 we would have been "good to go"... then I would have had the time & money & energy to put those radial tires on so baby would have had a new pair of shoes for her trip to Tulsa. Sometimes my constant "stretching of $0.50 to make a dollar" ends up bitting me in the a$$. What was it that Tupac said...?
  16. Yup.... I've been toying with the idea of selling off a lot of my $h!, buying a '61 Cadillac two door hardtop and throwing in a turbo-diesel of some sort... At this point I'd probably go with a diesel inline-six-turbo mercedes motor.
  17. RWD is a way of life, one or two MPG means NOTHING to me!
  18. Yeah.... always carry a camera. Always.
  19. Agreed!
  20. A million dollars for a ZR1 that you could otherwise own for 10% of that? Waste of money. I'd rather invest a million like this: $400,000 - nicest, cleanest, most gorgeous example of an early '30s 452-ohv V16 Cadillac ever built. $100,000 - early '30s 452-ohv V16 Cadillac dual cowl phaeton in good shape w/ daily driver potential. $100,000 - '30s Packard, any straight eight or V12 $50,000 - early '30s Pontiac rumble seat coupe $50,000 - 1967 Cadillac side-loader hearse $50,000 - 1959 Buick Electra 225 Riviera in black $50,000 - 1961 Cadillac coupe deVille heardtop, yellow w/ white interior $50,000 - 1969 Camaro ZL1 clone, daytona yellow hardtop $50,000 - 1963 Corvette split window coupe, blood red
  21. I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! I hope he's selling the Flattop B-59! Oh wait, how am I supposed to contact this idiot?
  22. Yup.... I'd LOVE to have that, indeed it would make a great family car, 6.5mpg and all! XP has directed me to the P.C.S. website to read those in the past when I was either thinking about buying a hearse (one silver '83 Oldsmobile 98 in particular) or when he's been thinking about buying a hearse or ambulance himself. Some people are complate and utter waste of sperm, oxygen & the space time continium. Balthazar: You're exactly correct, you can privately own a Peterbilt 379 or Kennworth W900 and park it legally in your driveway, or like some nerds around here you can have a Corolla sedan on commercial plates, or a VW Bug if you're one of those Geek Squad dorks. It's registration that determines that not the vehicle. This kind of $h! makes me want to buy a hearse even more though! These people need to be STFU by us car collectors as a collective. It's not Communist Russia yet in here... last time I checked it was still a free country.
  23. I'm 101% with XP715 here... & I'll knife fight anyone who insults the Banana Boat, of all the dozens of cars I've sold over the years that's the one I regret the most! This Jaguar is the poster child of expensive repairs and buyers remorse! I guess if you've got $4000 to burn on a factory-issued lemon... Hey, don't you still owe ME something?
  24. Just wait till you hear the B.S. these people are putting me through... but it's all good I'm almost ready to put the screws to them, just getting my ducks in line, police reports, photographs etc.
  25. Get an HHR SS panel!
