  1. That's the kind of ridicilously funny O.B. post I've missed durring this "election-08" fiasco.
  2. I hope that's all and she's ok. If someone rear ended me like that and my daughter needed p.t. at 2 years old they had best hope they made an honest mistake cause if that was a case of D.W.I. I think I would beat their head into a wall until their brains spilled out. I've never understood how the heck you can rearend someone at 55mph...?! I'm no model citizen behind the wheel, if anything I'm a terrible driver on paper, I have gotten numerous speeding tickets, I've been known to cause trouble on the steets by pulling J-turns on public streets and have drifted big, heavy RWD cars around off/on ramps like it's a race track but I've got this thing for keeping my eyes MOSTLY on the road. I even text while I'm driving at times, but have never come close to rear ending a car at 55mph. WTF!?
  3. Awesome. I love the Caddy-Chevy-Poncho-Pumpkin! No I was quite proud of coming up with something 100% original (or so I thought) but carvable, but oddly enough my Wife is obsessed with the food network, and I remember her mentioning to me that they made some killer pumpkins.
  4. O.B. Did you catch his mention of needing a second term to accomplish his goals? Well perhaps you're right. I'd take a bullet for my 1959 Buick LeSabre, & I'd do a million man march to put an end to the safety-nazis that took away our right to DECIDE like responsibl;e adults if we do or DON'T want crap like 24 airbags, B-pillars, 130lbs. of electronics that do nothing for ME and many other entusiasts otehr than lessen MPGs and performance... Cars are my life... I'm obsessed. Right now I'm on month 18 or so of dreaming of my next BIG automotive goal, to own a car that was manufactured prior to the start of WW2, and idealy still powered by the same exact motor it left the factory with. I obsess over this goal, I will put off owning a new computer, buying my first MP3 player or owning a stupid plasma TV or any trendy consumerist MADE IN CHINA garbage from this era... just to get half a percentage closer to owning a '36 Dodge Brothers sedan or '34 Pontiac or whatever... BUT, even my passion for cars, be it hardtop 1950s boulevard yachts or 1930s Art Deco works of art, PALES to my love of this great country and the freedoms and economic opportunity it bestows. And if it meant securing a safe, meaningful future for my kids... (BTW: Amelia is due to arrive within 5 days) I'll push my B-59 off a clif or sell it for a arsenal of firearms if our government ever gets to the point of no return. I hate extemist religious types who call themselves Republicans and preach fire & death upon anyone who does not fit their mold/interpretation of the bible. Likewise I hate many liberals and despise destructive, loathing agenda of idiocy. I think Al Gore was the BIGGEST & most dangerous threat to this country in decades, and he's a liar, Anti-American dirtbag & there's even a chance if the truth came out that he might have conspired with or aided enemies of our state... Seems he spent a LOT of his time overseas preaching free trade when in office, and yet I'd like to see a carbon footprint of 1990s China & todays China... that's not mentioned by him durring his Nature-Nazi speeches. It's funny how many PRO-CHOICE nuts are also the exact same people who constantly preach Animal rights! Hitler was a vegetarian. Really. The whole world seems dumb to me as a whole but yet I meet people every day face to face who I am on the EXACT same page with... here in Mass. even. Go figure. We're in the woodwork, and when all you fu&$ing retards have erroded every last personal liberty & are screaming for help, the tide will turn, my fear is that it might be too late. And for the record, while Bush was the lesser of two Evils vs. Gore, his Patriot Act is one of the most UNAmerican and disgusting "accomplishments" of any president in the 232 year history of the USA... it's pretty much equivelant to the opposite end of the spectrum from the Emancipation Proclamation, 1st/2nd Amendments & Bill of Rights. Are they still selling real estate on the Moon or Mars? :
  5. Amercia 2.0 will arrive someday, I just hope that it will not take blooshed, I for one will never allow this country, government or any authority to control certain aspects of my life. I'll either move back to Europe, or die fighting the tyrant before I ever submit to much of what many of the utpoia-preaching morons want to accomplish. There are very, VERY few absolutes in this life, some people joke "death-and-taxes" but I think one thing that is ABSOLUTE is the simplistic genuis of the constitution! No one, EVER in documented history has set up a better country than the USA. PERIOD. The problem is we need to bring back all of the ideals & philosophies that made this great land as near-perfect as it used to be.
  6. The photo is from Egypt, and the car is indeed a Fiat 131, or possibly 132, and that was confirmed by the photographer.
  7. So what, this country full of idiots is incapable of electing based on race? Supposedly for the past 2.3 centuries we've elected based on race since most everyone in power was a WASP... now it's a black guy (muslim, whatever) so clearly, racism is over, the entire 300 million people who live here are no longer prejudiced. No one who voted for Obama voted based on race, right? C'mon.... Either way, I wish nothing but prosperity, safety & freedom to every good-natured American.
  8. There's a disconnect occuring here somewhere. I guess I do ramble & go on tangents in your defense, and we're discussing this same basic topic in tow, three or somestimes four theads at once. Here's my Cliff Notes: 1. Obama's policies, "utopianesque" ideals & "Change coming to Washington" matra ring to me more and more as socialist propaganda. I should know. Take from the "rich" (upper middle class) and give to the poor & strugling who are in some, nay, MANY cases deadbeat losers & the hopeless drain on society types, is nothing but socialism. It has never been & never will be a genuine 'American Ideal' to rob the rich and give to the poor, unless the rich are the trully rich and their wealth is ill-begotten. What was it that BHO said...? "Redistribute the wealth" Think about that. That my friend is NOT a platform I support. That is just scratching the surface. When the heck did I attack his heritage? Last night, jokingly I said & texted a few friends: "He's Kenyan, he should be running the Boston Marathon, not the US-of-A" And maybe you think my LOVe of hardtops, and by extension, hatred of B-pillars in certain cars is stupid, but I at least keep it relevant, you fu**king whacko leftist types are hell bent on throwing around stupid attacks like that... What the hell relevance is there in that...? Grow up, I thought you said you were a baby-boomer.
  9. I'm tellin ya, take a broomstick to the innards of the catalitic converter when you haver a chance.
  10. Well that was anti-climactic. :AH-HA_wink: Now if you shoe-horned a HEMI from an SRT8 Charger into the 'Trepid you'd be awarded the one & only 2008 Congretonal Medal of Honor from Tight Whips Car Club founding members. BUT that also means hooking the flywheel to the REAR wheels via. a north-south driveshaft. IIRC the door panels and gauges are also exclusive to the 300M, right? Where did the white-faced gauges you swapped into the car come from? Intrepid R/T?
  11. Amen. Our founding Fathers were not perfect men, but they did manage to enact the perfect government, it's too bad that two centuries later we're still trying our best to F*** it up.
  12. I put my money, the little I have, where my mouth is. I support local business, never gas up at Exxon/Mobil anymore, go out of my way (and spend ga$) to buy goods at retailers other than Wal*Mart, & I am a big beleiver in spreading my message: I oppose any and all firearm regulation. I oppose "Real ID" & ALL forms of big brother I oppose the Patriot Act I oppose any and all forms of censorship, ----& by extension beleive in protecting the 1st amendment I oppose big government, always. As far as Free Trade, it's a falacy & outsourcing is killing this country, my dad lost his job after 18+ years of working at the same job, for the same company (mergers aside) in the same building, and he's got nothing to show for it in terms of new employment in his field. Massachusetts, & the USA in general is throwing away jobs, wheather technology, manufacturing or whatever, like yesterday's newspaper. What else woud, you have me do?
  13. Oldsmoboi: Sooooo where does this leave us? What IS it exactly that needs to be done?
  14. 1961 to 1963 Continentals (sedan or ragtop) are gorgeous! That's the way Cadillac should have after gone after 1961 instead of making 1963 & 1964 Cadillacs look emasculalted with their shrinking tailfins & boring (for the era) styling. Post WW2 FoMoCo products do NOT get any better than a 1961 Lincoln ragtop.
  15. Those are some hollow and useless words right there. Vietnam was entered under a dem. President, and if anyone is to blame outside of LBJ it would be France. As far as RED China taking our jobs and in return giving us cheap (but OVERPRICED) garbage that pass for "products" even if they are laced with lead and they ARE dog food or baby formula, you can thank Clinton & Gore. THEY got us in bed with "free" trade & China!!!
  16. Kick @ss!!! You know what's crazy... I was telling a buddy recently that if I had the $$$ I'd convert the B-59 to run on a giant electric motor driving the rear wheels & powered by a few batteries stored where the nailhead originally resided, charged off the grid. My daily commute is well under 100 miles. He said he'd rather convert the Lincoln, which is "a piece of American art," than buy a Toyota Prius. I have no idea of Neil Young's other philosophies/political views but that in and of itself right there garners masive respect. I personally find the '59 Lincoln to be one of the least attractive of the 1959 M.Y. cars, domestic or otherwise, but it is def. a rolling work of art all day long as compared to almost ANY modern car, esp. a Toyota Prisss.
  17. I hope, eBay is a funny, fickle & unpredictable place. It might not sell, it might sell to the guys neighbor off ebay or it might end up on a shipping container headed to France, Pakistan or Equador... No way to tell.... esp. with the weak dollar.
  18. Welcome back, it was nice to get together last night. Seems you & Jess enjoyed Julie's cooking. It's not the only reason I married her but it's one of the top three reasons, next time maybe she can make her Mushroom Ravioli w/ Bacon. Don't be a stranger on here.
  19. All the best.
  20. "Can't Feed 'em, Don;t breed 'em!" (common bumper sticker) Although who knows... maybe with the current Socialist regime about to control this country as of Jan. 2009 maybe a litter of kids combined with welfare & such will mean no matter how many you breed, the government will make the out tax dollars FEED (the unemployed).
  21. Yeah... NewJ & PENN have sections of highway (far from the urban-sprawl) where the highway seems to be running through a Vietnamese Jungle.
  22. 1.) A black man has managed to get elected president of the USA, maybe he's only 6% black, or 18.75% or maybe 23.666% but in any case he's managed to break a barrier many of my generation, of all races, long thought would be unbreakable for a couple more generations. This is a good thing, an accomplishment worthy of praise, by that I mean the voters, not the politicians. The sad truth is many minorities that voted for BHO voted BASED ONLY ON RACE, which kind of saddens me, because in the end it is RACISM that is partially responsible for the selection of our next Prez. 2.) I was born into socialism, communism what ever the hell you want to call it. I lived up in CzechoSlovakia until the age of 8 (1979-87) under the disgusting, twisted, inefficient & disheartening Socialist regime that was slowly rotting from the inside out, then when we came here to the USA (my nuclear family of three) the vast improvement of quality of life, personal freedoms & the sheer awesomeness of this country's "can do" attitude was a stagerring change for me, even at age 8 I could tell just how much different, BETTER the world could be when you're in charge of your own destiny, instead of being told by a useless Socialist puppett what you can and can not do, when & how. Anyone who embraces the ideals of a society where you are PUNISHED for genuine, earned financial success is a Communist & an Anti-American. I hope to someday have a decent 3 bedroom house for my family, several used cars & a pickett fence. If I earn those things through hard work and someone, some politician with feel-good rhetoric decides I need to pay a carbon tax on my V8 muscle car, pay a premum in income/property/sales/healtcare/death taxes & give up 12 out of the 80 posts in my pickett fence just to feed, clothe & house the lazy, incompetent, parasitic persons who choose to lead a lazy existance, sleeping away their days and watching mind-killing TV while I bust my ass at two jobs... damn this is already an epically long run-on sentence.... let me just say that I have a very hard time beleiving all this "change for the better" talk from a guy who has about as much experience for his job of Pres. of the USA as I have for Brain Surgery. Talk is cheap, Obama was fixing parking tickets in Chicago when Bush was already busy fu**king up his second term and pissing off democrats & republicans alike. We shall see what CHANGE comes about, although BHO's "it may take more than one term" quote in last night's speech shows how much of a megalomaniac he is, IMHO. 3.) Not drilling for DOMESTIC CRUDE in Alaska is one of the most un-American, stupid, self-righteous & short sighted policies that I am afraid of. Yes, we should be seeking multiple alternative energies like 1988, but mean time my car, the neighbor's roll-back wrecker, every 18-wheeler on our highways & most of your pathetic little FWD $h!boxes STILL NEED CRUDE OIL. Why the @$#%$&*!? would you want to buy it from an enemy of the USA, or just foreign land, when we HAVE our own. More on that later. 4.) If BHO manages to fulfill what he promissed in his acceptance speech last night, touching upon Lincoln's membership in the Republican party & roots in Illinios, quoting our founding fathers & reassurig us that his agenda is helping the middle class & protecting our individual rights, personal freedoms & defeating any & all enemies who threaten our shores... he just might be okay in my book. Problem, is his planned execution of said goals seems "fundamentally flawed" to put it nicely. 5.) WTF was Biden talking about two weeks ago... What does he know? What exactly do they KNOW is going to happen, and why? Why was he, even before BHO & him won, apologizing to the American people for actions that "will not seem right" and asking us to back them up regardless of how much we are in disagreement? Am I the only one on this forum that is put-off/scared of what the |$%#&@ that means? Are we talking Iraq? Iran? No. Korea? Russia? WW? That right there goes to show the utter stupidity and naive mentality of many of you liberals. You don't want responsibility, you don't want any challenge, if it takes effort or thought process you'd rather have the gov. do it for you. If Obama does indeed do away with the Patriot Act, (FAT CHANCE!) he will be much closer to earning a supported in myself. Agreed. I bet many liberals were waiting for him to start screaming "It's no fair, I want a RECOUNT!" like some pathetic dip$h!s in their party would have & HAVE done in the past. Not sure if Obama will be the lesser of two evils vs. McCain but I have a feeling I'll actually despise him less than Al Gore & Hell666y Clinton. QUOTE OF THE DAY!
  23. Yup. That is the saving grace, even if the entire car rotted to death or was driven into a telephone pole, it's a 1st generation Camaro, every single nut & bolt (with the exception of the subframe which is not hard to track down or replace with a tube-chassis) can be replaced from the Year One or Classic Industries catalog, not to mention the C.A.R.S. replica complete shells.
  24. Naturally, I love both but the '41 would be my pick!
  25. When a close friend and professional body-man saw my "Panther" a few days after I bought it back in summer of 2002 he remarked: (close paraphrase) Well you paid $5000 for a kick-a$$ crate motor that would cost you about as much to build yourself, and along with the motor you got a FREE 1968 Camaro. Cosmetically it's beat to $hit and needs a complete restoration, but for a 1968 Camaro residing in New England in 2002 it is rock solid underneath. The car was, as looks as if it still IS a solid starting point for a restoration. Yes, I daily drove it in the summers for four years, but the interior was 1/2 gutted when I got it and I proceeded to take up the carpet & install a n aluminum racing driver's seat & a worn but supportive passenger seat out of crashed 1980s Porsche. The seats, super-sweet ZZ350 motor and trans are basically all that are missing. Even the yellow key tag I sold it with is still there. BTW: The 1989 ZZ350 that powered my "Sixy8Panther" while I owned it was one of Hot Rod magazine's "TEN BEST HOT ROD MOTORS OF ALL TIME!" in an issue back around 2005 or so.
