  1. in case it gets deleted... I'm tempted to offer him three cartons of camel lights w/out the tax stamps, my pet tarantula and a wooden tennis racket for the car.
  2. p0rn!
  3. It's never a good time to watch (and believe a word of) the news in modern day USA.
  4. OK thread nazi, one lst thought for YOU. You're bringing down the legitimacy of this forum by posting that you got 38.7 MPG in a 1993 Grand Marq. It pretty much makes anything else you post questionable if you believe that, and I for one think that it's a lot like the quote about Reg you used to have in your sig. - paying good money for Aztek = out of room to talk about automotive styling. - insisting a high-milage Grand Marq. from the early 1990s gets 38.7 MPG = (insert duRRR comment here)
  5. cat $h! outside of litter box = bad cat $h! + bed in same sentence = very bad That sux...is she acting out, sick or getting old?
  6. you have your anti-V8 stigmate and it makes you an ANTI-enthusiast. That's BMW...GM's pushrod V8s wipe the floor with almost any stupid 4-cam V8 in terms of MPG while retaining hp & torque. I've said it a million times, a am-in-block, pushrod, OHV motor with ONE camshaft is a lot less parasitic at low rpm and REAL world applications than a BIGGER, HEAVIER motor with FOUR camshafts and twice the valves! Bring down the displacement and external size (by extension weight) of GM's Ls-series and you have a force to be reckoned with!
  7. automakers refuse to adapt the I6 for use in the 21st century... Suzuki aside, it's a terrible waste that the Atlas motors are being killed off and were never utilized beyond a couple trucks.... inline/slant SIXES beat the crap out of 99% of V6s and so that right there turns me off to most of today's sixes.
  8. sorry... let's try that again:
  9. DF: I addressed the fact that pizza delivery in the city, in winter was not conducive to high or even reasonable MPGs.... to which YOU said "same driving style/miles the Prizm gets high 30s..." to which I wanted to say "bull$h!" but I bit my tongue. More and more your MPG numbers are silly. Dear lord guys... do you STILL really believe that mercury got 38.7? There's a million different explanations for the possible discrepancy in numbers, but the lack of LOGIC is what makes it silly. XP said it all in the other thread.
  10. That's a horse of a different color. My bad. Original post said nothing of prescription... in which case $200 is probably more than reasonable. I'm taking about, for example, the chicks who wear the giant, gaudy D&G glasses that, along with the tramp-stamp, pretty much say white trash or ghetto trash... all while costing more than many a necessity they go without.
  11. Hheheheheh..... coolness. Although a '71 is way cooler looking. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_O3uekRtrt-w/RzMsbXAs...-Eight+1971.jpg
  12. more and more... the GM of 2009 and beyond is a GM not worth saving or caring about.
  13. Bottom line: there is NO need to talk of limiting production #s of cars with V8s.
  14. You've "dropped it"? Your comment eluded to my disbelief of your claims, and we both know you were talking about the MPG thing. You made a silly claim, and after your MPG claims for your rental Cobalt I felt the need to call you out on what is obviously a flawed system of measuring fuel economy. Tell us again that the same driver got 15 MPG in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS and 38+ MPG in a 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis? Just cause we're friends does not mean I turn off my B.S. meter. :AH-HA_wink:
  15. Paying $200 for sunglasses is an idiotic expenditure, well suited for the likes of Paris Hilton and Briney Sears. I think you're loosing brain cells driving that Toyopet with Volt-envy. Unless your yearly income is more than the MSRP for a Porsche 911 Turbo. I payed $200 for my daily driver Buick.
  16. Camino: you might remember I've said exactly that. baby V8, big V8 and a couple 4-cylinders. DF: NO V6, no matter how powerful.... Buick 3800 & Nissan's VQ included, will ever be an acceptable substitute for a V8, no matter how small. V6s are obsolete.
  17. This country is sinking fast like the Titanic... and the lifeboats are all afloat, every one of them about 80s% empty.
  18. Will you get off the bitter-wagen? I can make an educated guess about your transmission, but without more proof I'd never insist on knowing if it is or is NOT original. Getting 38.7 MPG in a 100% stock, BOF, 4.6 liter V8 powered, 1990s Mercury Grand Marquis? Did - NOT - happen. You still want to beat a dead horse?
  19. modern: 1990s B-body estate (Minivans = abstinence) Trucks re a no-brainer... Burban with deep tint. Old school: ANY full size boat... my B-59's Wiiiiiiiide front and BACK seat works well. Julie and I had a few fun outings in the old graphite/burgundy '87 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham last year.
  20. Great minds think alike!!! longitudinal mounted motors, RWD and Baby-V8s with great MPG FTW!
  21. Yup. Pontiac should become a hot-blooded, red meat eating, all American variant of the Mazda recipe, with a bit of BMW & Dodge thrown in. (figuratively speaking)
  22. Camino: 3/4 scale LS-series V8, reworked to accept 1:1-scale hardware (bolts, bearings etc.) I know it's a bit more complicated than that but the superiority of a pushrod V8 in terms of reliability and efficiency (as you said opposed to DOHC V6s) coupled with small displacement would guarantee (imho) a virtual silver bullet solution! As you said: BIG and small blocks.... the 21st century "small block" has 1960s BIG block output.... time for a new gen SMALL block.
  23. Modern Vee Dubs with high mileage always have an electrical glitch or two. So long as it's been reliable.... that's the important part. Turn key, drive under power of internal combustion, stop using the middle pedal. So what's up with the poor G-body Rocket Supreme?
  24. For the love of GoD why the F*** is GM not building a modern BOP 215 like last 2005? I'm not saying the Camaro needs a 6.0 litter or even a 5.7 liter V8, but how about a mini-V8, PUSHROD, in two or three displacements. Like say a 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 liter sizes, the 3.0 being the "frugal", low compression, 87-octane drinking "STANDARD" V8 motor for the Impala & Camaro, the 3.5 being the sporty, high volume variant & the 4.0 being the "all out" Z/28 and SS motor. Case closed, put a fork in it!
  25. smart-arse.
