  1. When will the desecration stop!?
  2. The best FWD car in the world made right now? Or... at least the best performance oriented FWD car in the world. Still, I'd take an "average 'ring lap time" RWD car over it any day. If this is what GM is capable of with "F-wrong Wheel Drive" just think of what they can do with an inexpensive RWD... if they ever get off their a$$es and TRY
  3. Camino... you're absolutely right. Citation would have been a better description. Between the Vega's mini-70-Camaro styling and the fact it was RWD ,not to mention the Cosworth connection, it was way more car (for its day) than the GM(E)-Daewoo crap that G is trying to put lipstick on right now.
  4. I've said it before, these things are cyclical. Right now it's 1974 again... and gm is putting all of its eggs in the VEGA basket.
  5. A FWD SAAB acan NOT hold a candle to a RWD BMW.... bringing the Motorsport-tuned 3 into the mix just makes the comparison that much more absurd.
  6. Yup.... my beat -to-sh!t RoadmOnster is lucky to average anything above 18mpg. & that's okay, considering my 2.4 liter I6/5-speed manual Datsun only averaged 22-25mpg being driven in the same manner. I'm okay paying $14 or so more to keep the Buick fueled up, esp. since (God forbid) if a maniac in a BMW drives into my B-body it will take the hit much better, and maybe I'll be able to avoid P.T. and it is a FACT that FoMoCo transmissions are inferior to GM's TurboHydramatics in terms of durability & fuel economy. Yes a B-bod or two driven by grampa at 55 for 200 miles on smooth highway has gotten 30 mpg... but western mass is not flat like Florida, where DF was driving.
  7. It was the losers and idiots at GM (E) that LOST their way, not us the consumers. 1977 --- GM downsized the B-bodies --- market share fell 1980s --- GM started pumping out FWD econo-boxes like hotcakes --- market share fell 1988 --- GM KILLED midsize RWD by replacing the G-bodies with the Wrong wheel Drive Ws --- market share fell 1996 --- GM KILLED mainstream RWD by killing the B-bodies --- market share fell notice a pattern?
  8. F%$# no. Not this time... if GM really does ''euthanize" Pontiac (just the though makes me sick ot my stomach) then the consolation prize will be some Daewoo POS rebadged as a chevy.
  9. Wow... I learned a few things. However, I am still unsure about this: why would Mercedes aspire to that? why/how would they utilize that?
  10. holy Cow, where have I been....? you're rockin' a classic,V8-powered, RWD, BOF Oldsmobile hardtop!?. Congrats Dude!!!
  11. WOW.... thanks for pointing out that Lambada is the W-body of truck platforms. I'll be in the bathroom with a razor blade. Down the street, not across.
  12. So wait, the Prius can only drive TWO miles on battery alone? :rotflmao: so very true.
  13. Camino, you don;t get it.... performance does not sell with a small dealer network. That is why BMW, Porsche and Audi all have dealer networks larger than GM's and Ford's combined. Any Chrysler executive will tell you more dealerships = more profits.
  14. Wow Satty... spoken like a true enthusiast. In 2002 GM killed off the F-body and insisted that "there is no more market for sporty 2-door cars" And your tirade sounds about as accurate. You probably used the words "NEVER" and "CAMARO" in the same sentence back then too. I'm so sick of this "sky is falling" mentality towards anything without a 'hybrid' emblem. Nothing is more of a drag than a can't do attitude.
  15. Sweet... i received my $300.00 from the Junkyard for the RoadmOnster this afternoon and am now styling in my 36.9 mile per gallon 1999 Ford Interceptor, now if I over-inflate the bald tires, swiss-cheese all of the non-essential inner sheet metal 1960s Gasser style and mount up some back-up cameras in lieu of those bulky side view mirrors that rob the car of several points of drag co.ef I'll be gettin' 40mpg in no time. I just can't figure out how my old company car, a modern Town Car with the same (but newer) 4.6 liter V8 only got 18-19mpg on the highway even though I was driving for a limo company as an airport taxi & HAD to drive like Mother Theresa for the sake of our rich/pampered clientele.
  16. It's funny cause it's true. You have a way with words O.B.
  17. lest I forget the dropping of the ball on RWD (Zeta) for over a decade, and now we have but one, under the banner that is in jeopardy no less.. Satty: Your comment is ignorant & you know better.... if Pontiac lived up to its potential & intent as a brand it would eclipse Chevrolet & Buick like a doomsday asteroid.
  18. Between the lack of any great Buick cars, Cadillac's compete idiocy regarding many things FWD, b-pillar, DTS & Sixteen related, coupled with the death of brand that is VERY close to my heart, I'd be 100 percent with you 'Camino!
  19. Te mid-engined Kingcobra looks goofy, as cool as it is. The B26 Marauder has always been one of my favorites. Yey for non-sealing fuel tanks and kite construction. There's a reason why for every ONE F4U corsair a mitsuBitchy Zero shot down the 'merican double-corncob, bent-wing blue angel killed like 27 of the Zeros. Nip_OWNED!
  20. Good to hear you're safe. Too bad about your GMC Jimmy, I'd rather have a used S10 suv than a FWD Astra/Vue.
  21. At any rate, weather Mac computers are or are not problematic these days I can see how their quality might have gone down if for NOTHING else, because they have spread themselves pretty thin these days, what with the iPod, iPhone & all the other recent niche/emerging tech products.
  22. Opie & Anthony mentioned this "news story" this morning.... Jim Norton had a good comment or two.
  23. 28 mpg in a 5.0 Mustang with a 5-speed trans.? Sure, that's believable. 1. A unibody Fox body Mustang weighs about 1000 or maybe 1200 lbs. LESS than a BOF '90s Grand Marq. 2. '87 Mustang drag coef. < Gr.Marq drag. 3. Top gear (5th) in a 5.0 Mustang is WAY more efficient (lower RPM) than top gear in a FoMoCo automatic 4-speed D.F. Geez, you seem to be taking my comments a bit personally. Back on planet earth, neither Cobalt sedan LS rental cars or gently used, mid-90s Grand Marq. get the kind of mileage you're claiming.
  24. I don't care if your odometer was just calibrated and Stephen Hawkings did the math, use your head, 38+ mg did NOT really happen in that car.
  25. The Grand Natty was a 3800 V6 with forced induction in a midsize two door... does that make any 1996 Riviera Supercharged worthy of the GNX name? It's even a G-body!
