The Cabriolet comes with a soft cloth top stretched over a lightweight kinematic mechanism made out of magnesium-steel, perfectly complementing the car’s sporty design. The top can be opened or closed electro-hydraulically in less than 18 seconds, even while driving up to 31 mph, all at the press of a button.

The A3 Cabriolet also offers an active rollover protection system that helps protect the occupants in case of a rollover accident, as well as a fully automatic acoustic top with a glass rear window and thick inner foam layer.

A3 TDI SedanThe Audi A3 TDI® Sedan offers consumers the fuel efficiency of the iconic TDI clean diesel powertrain. A powerful yet efficient 2.0 TDI FWD engine produces 150 horsepower and 236 lb-ft torque. Audi has been at the forefront of clean diesel since the introduction of TDI technology in the U.S. in 2009.

Since then, more than 40,491 Audi TDI vehicles have been sold in the U.S., delivering an average of 30% better fuel economy and range than their gasoline counterparts (based on EPA fuel economy estimates).

Interesting that this is one of the few times you have a TDI that is priced below the rest of the gas lineup. With Audi's Generic Bland Jelly bean design language, I think they need an update as this will get them a few more sales but not the growth they are thinking. Pricing seems to be inline with this class of car. Better than MB or BMW, that is for sure.

The diesel should get solid mileage.   The smart thing Audi is doing is making multiple body styles to broaden the appeal of the car.  This is why Audi outsells Acura, Cadillac, Infiniti and Cadillac.  Those brands mostly make sedans and crossovers and forget about the sports cars, especially Lincoln and Acura.

Really, i actually like the new GTI MK VII more than the A3.  But Audi is the new brand for up and coming professionals. Probably why they and Subaru are up more than almost anyone else in our (North American) market.

Audi is sort of the hot brand for up and comers, but I wonder how long it will last too.  BMWs seems to be being designed to fit with their customer base as it ages.  15 years ago BMW made cars for 40 year olds, now it seems they are making cars for 55 year olds to satisfy the base.   Mercedes, Lexus and Cadillac always had a bit of an older person's image, Audi doesn't have that image problem, the people that bought VW's and Subarus 10 years ago are flocking to Audi.

Audi has image right now, but I think their car line up top to bottom is the worst of the German trio.  The cars have poor reliability, are noisy, that 2.0T idles rough and is buzzy like a lawn mower, they ride stiff, etc.  Smart buyers will look past the 5 spoke wheels and LED lights and buy something else.

I totally agree with you on Audi, a coworker I work with daily has one and it seems to be in the shop 50% of the time. Drove in it and the CTS V is a superior ride and auto compared to the Audi performance line.

    • I find it funny that the Mayor and other politicians are begging Canadians to return to Vegas, but Mexico has won out, so I do not see them returning and the amount of visitors to Vegas has dropped to levels from 2000 to 2003. Billions lost and deserved based on the stupidity of the U.S. Canadian airlines are abandoning Las Vegas at levels not seen since 2006
