Rumorpile: Porsche Joins The Crossover Coupe Craze

    • Porsche Possibly Joins The Crossover Coupe Mania!

While many of us are still trying to figure out the point of the BMW X6, other competitors who are German see a possible market emerging. Mercedes-Benz is readying their competitor which is supposedly called the MLC and Audi is rumored to be working on one as well. Well another German automaker is possibly working on as well.

Autoweek reports that Porsche is considering a coupe-like Cayenne model. The new model is expected to share many of the design cues of an upcoming refresh due for the Cayenne due in 2017, along with sleeker roofline and sloping rear end. The interior will be shared with the Cayenne.

The coupe-like Cayenne will utilize the upcoming MLB platform which will debut in the next-generation Audi Q7 which is expected to debut sometime this or next year. Power will come from a range of gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Now, the model is expected to arrive sometime in 2018.

WOW, Talk about a waste of cargo space, rear head room and over all just an over priced, over rated 2 person auto! Guess the small man with a big ego will love it and buy it up as usual cause it has Porsche on the auto. :P

    ugh.

Not my cup of tea either.

They should make a rear engine SUV based off the 911.

I think they would have to be stoned to do this. However, Germans gettingvstoned could explain quite a few BMW products.

The production version of Porsche's Mission E will be arriving in 2019 and has the company wondering about expanding their electric lineup.
Porsche division chief Oliver Blume told Bloomberg at the Shanghai auto show that the Mission E brought a shift in thinking for the company.
“It’s more than just the need to comply with rules. We find the technology as such interesting, as electric cars allow a very sporty driving experience, which fits well with the core value of our brand,” said Blume.
The acceleration capabilities of electric motors has Porsche thinking about how they could integrate them into their lineup. One is by building out a group of EVs and the other is expanding their lineup of plug-in hybrids - currently comprised of the Cayenne and Panamera.
Vehicles like the Mission E will play a key role in markets such as China where restrictions on emissions are expected to become the world's toughest in the coming years.

Subaru is taking a page out of Honda's playbook with previewing new models via thinly disguised concepts. This morning at the New York Auto Show, the Japanese automaker unveiled the Ascent Concept.
To our eyes, the Ascent looks like a bigger Forester. Yes, it does have a more muscular look with a large grille and sculpting along the doors. The back end reminds us of the Levorg sold elsewhere in the world as it features similar styling. Move inside and the Ascent offers seating for up to seven people. The dashboard is concept-esq with touch-sensitive controls for the infotainment system, locks, and windows.
One interesting tidbit Subaru dropped was the Ascent would be powered by new turbocharged boxer-four engine. Specifics on horsepower and torque were not revealed.
The Ascent will go on sale in 2018. Expect to see the production version sometime later this or early next year.
